Horror story.
I ordered my M1 MacBook Air on November 20 with an estimated ship date of December 15-22. As of December 13 I hadn’t heard a thing, so I checked the Apple Store app. Lo and behold, the order was canceled. Very disingenuously, the order said, “You canceled this item on December 11.” Which is BS: I didn’t cancel anything. Apple canceled the order, for no apparent reason, with no email or notification and no explanation.
To make matters more confusing, at the very same time that they canceled my order, Apple created a second order, with the exact same order number, that said the computer would be delivering
between December 15 and December 22.
Talk about weird.
So I called into Apple and eventually spoke to a senior rep. She clarified that the order was canceled as a result of a “backlog cancelation.“ I’ve literally never heard of this before, and it makes no sense considering that people in this very forum ordered after me and have had no issues.
But the rep said that it looked like Apple was still going to ship it in December, hence the duplicate order saying it was still shipping.
Now, for no apparent reason, the estimated delivery date for that order has been pushed back to the
end of January. Specifically, I am being told that the computer won’t ship until
January 18-25.
What the actual f*ck?
