M1 Air order delays?

Around here (Sacramento area), all Apple stores are closed. Even a few days before they closed, they were out of inventory.
My order for 8/8/512 placed on Dec 19 is still showing processing.
No 8c/16G/1T available around me, but checked a couple of zipcodes around the country (NoVa, MN, HI, WA, OR) and they're definitely pretty widely available rn. I guess I'll keep checking.

I dunno. Things are really backed up. My estimated delivery was Jan 7-14. Today is Jan 9 and it’s still stuck in processing. I’m starting to doubt I’ll see it by the 14th.
I ordered an M1 MBP early December and it had not shipped within the estimated window. I wound up cancelling the order when I found the config I wanted at a local AS.
Interesting. I just checked store availability. I'm in CA and all stores are closed. But the store in Reno, NV about 90 mins from me has my configuration in stock. If my order doesn't show up in the next week, perhaps I will plan a trip there.
Just keep in mind that inventory is fairly fluid and can change day to day. I checked the availability at the local stores for my config for a couple of weeks before I found one. That was early December. Hopefully, that gets better now but with Chinese New Years coming next month expect some slow down in production.
My order just transitioned to "Preparing to ship". Looks like I might actually get it by the 14th.
Had to hop on board here.... Was back and fourth with the air & pro.. Decided to get the AIR 8C , 8, 512 .. Still saying the same shipping dates as someone above that ordered theirs on 12/22 , I ordered mine on 1/10 ! UGH .. If I keeop getting bumped Ill cancel and wait... Do not see any airs at my local AS and I live in the NY/LI area.. Guess they never stock these ... As of yet..

Not even day by day - at my local Apple stores (not in US) it was changing every few hours (it seemed to follow a daily cycle though, they would be available late morning, then go out of stock either very quickly or later on in the day or very occasionally the next day).
I stalked my local Apple stores for availability for a couple of days (checking every few hours) before getting my 16GB/1TB Space Grey MBA.
Hahaha, very true. I checked between 10 AM and 2 PM local time multiple times each day. I think that is showing new inventory arriving and being stocked into the system. And certainly stock moves quickly. If you see your config buy it before it disappears (excluding base models which seem to show up more often).
UPDATE: I was just able to order the Air 8,8,512.. at a local apple store in NYC... Only had one, once I ordered for pick up that was it... No more left... Just to give my experience, although it was almost a month ago... MBA M1. I'd placed an order on 11/30, and estimated delivery date was 12/11-12/15. It finally shipped on 12/14 from about 30 miles away and was delivered on time on the 15th.
I was under that understanding as well. However, another day has passed and my order status is still "processing".
I think a lot of it depends on what Credit Card you used and how they calculate things. I'm using ApplePay for mine, and it's still showing as pending.
My estimate was the same, I got it on the 13th. It came from Nashville, not China. I have a friend who had the same 7-14 estimate. He finally got Preparing to Ship yesterday and it's being delivered today. Another friend, same result. Preparing to ship on the day before the last window day and got it on the next day. His was shipped from Ontario, California. All of these were base units.
I only have 3 data points but all 3 were base units and all 3 shipped from US cities rather than from China.
