I also wonder if people are unaware of trade in with Apple? It's what makes upgrading the easiest decision for me (at least) in this process.
The new M2 iPad for me costs $513 (since I added AppleCare). I'm reusing my Pencil and Magic Keyboard. 0% 12 months no interest, and cash back using the Apple Card. The trade in on my older M1 iPad was $415. More than half the price of the new one.

I really wonder why they didn't upgrade the screen on the 11 Pro. I might have been tempted to upgrade mine, just because I only have 256 in my current 11, and I would have liked to have upped the storage. But it's not worth it without a new screen (to me).

These ridiculous "nothing" updates have got to impact sales for them at some point, no?

I mean the entirety of what they released today was an amazing nothing burger

It will slow down people's upgrade cycles, but they will still sell reasonabe amount.

I just ordered a 12.9 with Pencil 2, upgrading from iPad Pro 10.5 with Pencil 1. I will still keep the 10.5 whenever I want a smaller iPad that's easier to handle.

Wow, not even an improvement on blooming which is my least favorite thing about my 2021 model. I thought for sure they’d improve it since the 2021 MacBook Pros have significantly reduced blooming in comparison.

I’m glad I didn’t wait for this update. I got my Pro almost exactly a year ago, and I was concerned I was too late/my model would get outdated quickly since it was released in April 2021. I guess not!

So M2 Macbook Air with 256GB SSD is 1499 Euros
M2 ipad Pro with 128GB SSD is 1449 Euros

Both devices are base configs. You do the math. This has rip off written all over it.
iPad Pro does a lot of things the MacBook Air cannot, and vice versa.

That's like comparing a $50K truck to a $50K car from General Motors. GM is not ripping you off by charging the same price for both, the products do different things.

I’m upgrading because I want the 12”, upgrading from a 2018 11” pro. Wish it had the landscape camera and hoped for a better display but I’m ok with what it has. I could care less about the quality of the cameras and would order without the rear camera is I could.

Now just to make the iPad more of a computer replacing as I’m hoping this will also replace my old 12” MacBook. Ordered the Magic Keyboard for it too

Honestly believe this is more due to the current state of the supply chain for technology related items. The tech industry as a whole are still kind of stalled from covid and the current world events. Sadly, since parts are not soley made in any one country or place this will likely continue to be a huge bottleneck for on going large advancements.
Totally agree. Apple is still feeling the effects of a slowed economy. Hoping next year will be a banner year for Apple products.

Sorta agree - except for the fact that the hardware is virtually identical. Just the Macbook has a keyboard, usb-c, hdmi ports etc for the same price :)

Well I'm an idiot for not taking advantage of the education "back to school" deal on a 11" M1 and keyboard yesterday. No way I'm paying for the M2 with the new prices. Just had to roll the dice and wait for the "latest and greatest"......😒

A new customer could have walked into an Apple Store yesterday and purchased an iPad Pro with M1, or walked in today and purchased one with M2. Which is better?

Neither. They should've bought the M1 models for $200 off last week during Prime Day 2. Hopefully that deal will return during Black Friday season for those people because there isn't anywhere near $200 worth of upgrades in this new model.

iPad Pro M1 (12.9 in) + Magic Keyboard = £1381 vs iPad Pro M2 (12.9 in) + Magic Keyboard = £1748 here in the UK. Is the M2 worth nearly £400 more? I was waiting for the M2 to replace my 4 year old iPad Pro. Needless to say I have ordered an M1 and keyboard (from John Lewis) while there are some left. I know the 26% increase is mainly down to the devaluation in the £ vs $ but it makes the new machine very unattractive - especially when the ‘upgrade’ is minimal. Sales in the UK will be very poor.

Paying $500 to upgrade from M1 iPad to M2 iPad is just a bad decision. Now if you were coming from a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9 then MAYBE it may be worth it, but even then it is still the same iPad. It functions the same and everything. People do not upgrade yearly on tablets compared to phones. I am still waiting for full OLED display iPad and more freedom on iPadOS then I will consider upgrading from my 2018 iPad Pro.

Dude Apple messed this 11' model so bad. Unlike annually-launched iPhones, most people wait for years to upgrade iPad, and when they launch such useless updates, entire planning goes to waste.
Now am I supposed to wait for 2024? And then boom, they announce that 11' model is discontinued lmfao (3 ipads of 11' make zero sense)

So an iPad Pro 13 -512 go with the folio keyboard (not the most expensive one) is 2168 $CAD.

The MacBook Air M2 512go is… 1750$ CAD.

So the iPad Pro is + 430$, ( +500$ including taxes).
I can almost buy a mba + a base iPad 9th gen for the same price.

WTF.

Not sure what's so flabbergasting. They are two completely different devices for different use cases. Last time i checked, I can't very easily remove an MBA's keyboard and use the display as a standalone device with a touch interface 😉

Speed bump. Worth if if you're on an a-chip model, but not if you're on an M1. and they telegraphed that next update will be a redesign with the landscape camera. So penciled in the budget for next year.

Cannot believe that they put the camera in landscape on the entry-level iPad but left it in portrait on the new iPad Pro...ridiculous.
Was the entry level iPad just a spec bump? If that’s all the Pro was then I can see why they didn’t mess with the camera placement.

Look like a weak euro + 15% vat. it's almost on par with US prices.

I preordered as soon as the store came back online, to get one on launch day. Did this knowing I could cancel if I didn't like the specs. Really expected a relocated camera, now I'm on the fence.
This is one of those items no need to upgrade until the old one breaks. Absolutely nothing to see or get excited about with this release.

I'd gladly pay you $700 for said iPad.

What? New customers don't benefit from "improvements" to products. Existing customers do.

I'd ask you to explain the "logic" behind that statement, but I'm afraid it will make matters worse 🤣

Many forget this fact. Also that not all people are upgrading from the M1.

Most people tend to be wrapped up in their own little world and forget that not everyone shares their needs/wants. Apple should have them, and only them in mind! 😉

$999 on Amazon right now. I have a 3rd Gen and it's tempting.
