in europe the back to school starts around 15 september, if the new macbook is out, should it be possible to get an ipod with the new macbook or will they still sell the old ones

I just hope they revise the macbook pro...its about time. Oh and I dont mean just a small speed bump or other crap like that. I want some cool new case redesign and some actual improvements...bigger HD, better battery life. You know the usual

From the past history of MacBook Pros, it seems that generally:
  1. A chipset change delivers a small bump in numerical specifications while an upgrade to components (ex. GPU goes from X1600 to 8600M, VRAM stays the same, displays updated)
  2. A processor upgrade delivers a larger bump in numerical specifications while keeping the same components (ex. GPU stays at 8600M, VRAM goes from 128/256 MB to 256/512 MB)
So this Mac notebook update would be the chipset change (2). Look for GPU and display updates but I'm expecting the RAM, HDD, etc. to be similar to the Penryn MacBooks.

So where's this supposed confirmation at AppleInsider?
I'm wondering that too...

Beware the 'C' word...

So where's this supposed confirmation at AppleInsider?

Although you can pick up some interesting tidbits and hints, you shouldn't be looking at AppleInsider, MacRumors, etc. for "confirmation" of anything. Confirmation will come from Apple alone, although some of the prognosticators may turn out to be darn close:eek:.

The main thing about Macticipation is to not take it too seriously;), lest you wind up some screwed-up, frustrated cat.

Apple Fan Boys make me sick! you guys are really whipped! Open up and look at alternatives. Sure the macbook pros look amazing but the dell xps m1530, hp dv6800t etc.. pack more punch for a lot less.

What has happened the informed consumer?

As a graphic artist and web designer the Apple Brand Image is worth the money. My clients expect me to have Apple's latest and greatest. Even their IT guys now. Everyone makes a 'snide' comment when I show up with my HP laptop. When I goto a sales meeting with my 17" MBP high res running Windows XP or Vista under VMWare, heads turn.

iPad ?

This isn't real.
It's just a photo I made of what an iPad might look like.:D

For those who believe that the optical media is dying... well let me remind you that USA and Europe arent the only countries/continents in the World! We live in the US (and other developed nations) but conveniently forget about other countries where such bandwidth provision is nowhere to be seen!

Fact Check:

"The United States is behind in broadband deployment, speed and price. Despite what some advocates and analysts claim, the United States is behind in broadband performance and its rank has been falling since 2001."

In previous years it was always possible to get the back to school ipod with the latest computer hardware (eg. the new Alu-iMac of last year), however they limited it to the old ipods. So you could not get the deal on the new ipods that came out in last september...

I'm actually hoping for September... my bank account needs a breather.

Though I'll probably wait a bit to see if any bugs need to be worked out. It'll be a tough wait, though.

New!!

Wouldn't that be amazing to get a newly designed macbook with the newly designed ipod touch!! I hope that apple doesn't try to squeeze by and release them on Sept. 16th.

Riding past an electronics store in Vietnam

And saw a poster hung out with the "tall-like" nano in multi-colors.
I was confused...

Online, cable, and satellite content delivery, and new compression formats, will effectively destroy blu-ray as a mainstream distribution method. It will hang around in a niche format for the next five years but in effect it is dead already.

I dunno about that. With the talks of ISP's "capping" the amount of monthly traffic they allow, I don't see downloading movies as being viable. Download a couple of movies and you're already over your monthly quota.:mad::mad:

I wonder what they would redesign on the touch. Would they go with a plastic back like they did with the iphone just to reduce manufacturing costs associated with different backs? I would think the touch would look the same or at least relatively the same with the exception of a small hole if they added a camera. I can't think of how it would change.

Camera?

If the new iPod touch has a camera what would become of Apple's signature shiny scratch/smudge prone backing? I doubt they could incorporate both.. :p

All the sarcasm that's in this thread right now is about to make my head explode.

C'mon guys, it's a little sickening. Not everyone can be witty. You guys are trying too hard.

Anyways. I'm still not sure what to expect in the new MacBooks. :( Like no idea whatsoever besides 'glass trackpad'. MacRumors needs more rumors.

I totally agree but I've heard rumors of adding a camera and possibly GPS. You know how it goes...the rumor mill. My point is, if they did update the touch- I wonder what they would do with the exception of more storage. Maybe they would update the touch by introducing more models with bigger screens - transitioning the touch into their "tablet" line or something. In my opinion. I see the touch right now as a small tablet. it just needs a more traditional GUI. the macbooks use to come with 20GB HDs and ran OSX..maybe they'll just go that route with the touch and make the screens a little bigger. They could still keep the existing model in a more traditional ipod role. Who knows
