It's hard to justify the price of their computers anymore.
I have thought about that and realised that the TCO over 4 years is not much more than a Windows thingy. Once you add in all the nasties that MS throws at you with every release such as replacing your video driver with a crap one that can't handle your monitor etc etc etc,
the TCO + Hassle factor for a MacBook Pro is far lower than a windows machine can ever be.
I spent the best part of two decades writing server side software that ran on Windows, Unix and Linux. The majority of our support problems came from Windows systems. Go figure.

Your loss. It's the best keyboard I've ever written on.

Wait some years – then we talk again – seems you haven't understood this scandal around butterfly failures: It's your longterm risk ;) then no repair program will help you anymore with this keyboard repair...

High prices and crap upgrades. I personally don’t mind the butterfly keys but if they really are flawed then they need replacing.

Also they need to put a discrete graphics card in the 13” MacBook Pro’s. It’s ridiculous they are supposedly “pro” with intel graphics.

Had a MBP 2016: Keyboard stopped working (e and space) got another MBP 2018: Device sometimes slows down or I have the feeling that the UI is laggy. The device had like 2 or 3 Kernel panics since I had it.
My Acer gaming pc has other small issues, that are also annoying, eg slow SSD if Steam downloads something to it, or just the random Windows 10 update bugs (start menu not working) - but I never had a bluescreen with this desktop and it cost me €1.300 instead of €2.800 with much faster CPU and GPU (well yeah, it is a desktop).
I don't mind paying a small premium for Apple products, but they have to deliver... not happening at the moment with buggy software releases. I can then also save some $$$ and use Windows.

Funny, because it seems that man with ‘no vision’ has put this company in heights that’s never been reached before under his leadership with Products and services that have excelled on new levels.

So did the guy last time Apple crashed into oblivion. Milking an already success only works for so long.

Enterprises do not like Macs. What's so fascinating about it? BTW what's happened to IBM and their claims about the benefits of Macs? What about all Google engineers using Macs? How about all iOS app developers having to use Macs? I am sure there are quite a few of those employed by enterprises.
There are, but do you realize the install base of windows in enterprise and government? Even the least significant machine is running Windows. The advantages of Macs per IBM remains, but most companies look at cheapest possible upfront cost when looking at contract tenders.

Impressive.
This is probably the best reply ever

Apple are you hungry enough? You could blow them away with such little effort! Don't be so pigheaded.

Please make a system people want.
  • The Monarch Butterfly has flown! Scissors are reliable & quiet! Don't ruin them when you redesign it this time.
  • Serviceable system - Even MS see's the light!
  • Upgradable RAM & Storage (2nd drive) Really need to embrace M.2 SSD's for second drive (T2 primary)
  • Cooling & Power! The CPU needs better cooling to get what it's designed to offer for performance. I shouldn't need to throw my system in an Ice box for a long vid render as the AC charger & battery can't offer the needed power to run it at room temp.
  • Ports! Back onboard! Please give us two USB-A ports with the four USB-C ports modify the back USB-C ports so a MagSafe plug can be flush mounted with a charging LED! And lastly give us Ethernet & SD card support. Even MS see's the beauty of a magnetically attached power connection (which you did first! And then abandoned!) and they have USB-A & SD support onboard in their Surface units!
I'm tired of waiting if this next series doesn't offer what I need I'm moving on.
I agree all the points, except ports. I want usba to die. That port is ugly and way too big

Show us where it says the PC customers are happy.

Very happy here with my 17in Dell Inspiron. Happy with:
17in
matte screen
various ports
user replaceable ram
user replaceable storage
user replaceable battery
discrete graphics
price
robust design and construction
cd drive (because there is space, and has been useful to me)

However, I much prefer macOS, 16:10 screen but not enough to overide this list.

I have a MBP 2018 - mainly bought it because all my previous MBPs end up dead because of GPU failure.
What I miss or get annoyed on this machine:
- real 4k display
- faceID
- I love butterfly keyboard - I don't like the size of the keys (they are waaay to wide)
- trackpad is too big - I end up moving the cursor too often
- runs hot - I am afraid of another gpu/cpu failure
- GPU sucks on these machines.

What keeps me on Macs is the OS. I sill miss SL's GUI. I like a lot dark mode but I miss the SL's interface and I am still suffering from strained eyes from these flat designs.

At work we have windows Laptops and while several Lenovo machines are pretty slick I don't fancy the OS on them and their trackpads are horrible after using Apple's implementation.

I don't plan to replace my machine soon. It's doing the job and I pray it will live longer than previous machines.

“Apple could see some growth in Mac sales next year following the release of the new ‌Mac Pro‌ and rumors suggesting a new 16-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ is on the horizon.”

Computer-wise, Apple has always been a niche market, fluctuating between 5-10% of PC sales worldwide. It is currently at around 9%, so all considered, they are doing quite well to be on the 4th place of that list. I would not expect the Pro computers shift that balance much due to their very high prices, so lower number of overall sales. People buying “a computer” nowadays can get a decent one running Windows, Chrome OS or Linux for about 500-700$, which also does not help Apple’s sales.

After the 2016 price hike, they are too expensive. My late-2011 15" mbp cost £1550. To buy a 15" mbp with 512GB hard drive (still too small for me) will now cost me £2800 ($3500). What a complete and utter joke.
I still wouldn't buy a new mbp anyway because of the butterfly keyboard and the touchbar.

I see a lot of folks blaming the price. The other night I looked at the Lenovo X1 Extreme 2nd gen and I put together a custom configuration pretty much on-par with my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 model for which I paid 2700 Euro on a Black Friday sale. The regular price would have been 3K. The price of the Lenovo ended up being 2931 Euro. Add to that some of the apps that come with the Mac for free but in Lenovo's case I'd have to buy, and I'd be looking at a 3.5K+ investment. Now, don't get me wrong, that Lenovo is an amazing machine, but it's also proof that the Macs aren't as expensive as people make them out to be.

I like the current MacBook Pro. Design is stunning. The form factor is great. Performance is great but if I'd need additional gpu power I'd add external one. I love the feel of butterfly keyboard, not so much its reliability. I haven't used a single emoji on it but I prefer touchbar to physical keys. Display is pretty much perfect, next gen could use micro LED for amazing contrast (higher res seems pointless though). Even if Apple adds Face ID I'd like for touch ID to remain. Price is high but then again it always has been and I'm willing to pay if the product delivers for my needs and likes.

I think part of Apple’s decline is many prior laptop customers are probably purchasing iPad/iPad Pro as their computer. This is conjecture on my part but I personally know of several friends and acquaintances who have purchased iPad Pros over a full desktop.

So the market has grown, Apple has gone the opposite way....
Perhaps if they dropped the stupid high pricing, ditched 5200 rpm hard drives, chang the designs once in a while, like more then several years.. they may sell their computers! Oh and get rid of the utterly useless failed keyboard design they came up with!

Apples keyboard is the perfect example of if it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it!

And they also need to design computers that don’t thermal throttle all the time too, looking at you new Mac Mini.

Right now it seems the best computers they sell is the iPad Pro if you call it a computer, and the upcoming new Mac Pro, unless it thermal throttles too...

It will be fine. Apple will respond with a new batch of emojis to fix the problem.
Don’t forget those seasonal iPhone cases and watch straps!!...

All this very accurate talk of laptops, but the desktops suffer too: Mac Mini WiFi and Bluetooth problems straight from the factory, to say nothing of the weak integrated gpu.

Can't trust the hardware builds, much less software now. Not to mention the increasing lack of customer service. Prices? Freaking ridiculous to boot.

Just 🙁

And do not get me started on iPads...
