MacBook, MacBook Pro To See Merom Upgrade Next Month?

Changed the HDD in my iBook from the 30gb 4200rpm to a Hitachis 100gb 7200rpm and what happened?
I get about 5-15min of extra time of the battery nowadays.
The hitachis have done a exelent job on the drive and powersave modes.
But the previously completely silent iBook keeps a constant very,very silent
shoooo nowadays.
So no, the added rpm doesnt neccesary equal to worse battery consumption.If you get your ***** gotten faster from the HDD, you save time and battery on that.
Not to mention if you happen to do any production on your computer,then you will even save some time/money on your stuff.
Since the difference in the rpm´s are that big on those drive,i wont even start how it affected the performance...
But the heat output increased.Dont know how much,but the pooper runs a bit hotter than before.Nothing dramatic anyway.You still can wear you leotard strings and you precious wont get burned.
Just some toughts, scottie. If you are working with your computer with applications where you might need the extra speed,then it could have been a good buy.

Question about the New York city 5th Ave. Apple Store:
Let's say today is monday, and Apple announces new MBP's tomorrow (tuesday), the store opens 24 hrs., if I go to the store about 3 or 4 A.M., Will I be able to buy it at that hour? or I have to wait at 9 or 10 A.M. when all the other Apple Stores opens?

Sooo I posted a couple pages back about the MBP that my Dad had sent me, and Multimedia gave me the great suggestions on how to return it??
Well, I went to the PO box expecting the machine...(dad had asked for a saved cart etc etc...) and what I actually got was a check! YAY!! So now I have the cash (assuming no price increase) to grab one the second the new models are announced!

Well, in fact the post was about the release of the Mini's with Merom upgrades, personally I'm interested in the MBP too, but if we see the Mini's by then, surely we'll see the MBPs with Merom's too, don't you think?HecubusPro said:

From what I've heard we wont see new MB/MBP's in September. Apple has yet to receive the desired quantity of Merom chips. They are worried that they wont be able to meet the huge demand on the new laptop models. However they do plan on making a *very interesting* product announcement the second week of September. As for the new laptops we will see a quiet update early October.

But please turn the tables on your naysayers. Do you have more evidence as to why what you said is fact? Do you have a proven track record (like Macrumors or Appleinsider for example) of rumors/fact that end up as truth? Please elucidate further.

I think you got me confused with walshb6413, who thought he was receiving a MBP from his father, but got a check instead. Mine has a ship dated of the 29th and will arrive on 9/3. However, I do wish that I was receiving a MBP or a check from MY father.
Hold up a minute, walshb6413, if I send you my address, will I get a check too?

) was now powered by merom--Apple was just waiting for their overseas shipments to come in before shipping out the MBs or MBPs or Mac Minis. This is getting really exciting.

That'd be awesome but wouldn't it more be Apple selling out of the Core Duo's and instead of bulk ordering and trying to sell a bunch before September 5 and haveing left overs. They push back shipping dates and wait to ship Core 2 Duo?
