apple.com/macbookpro

If they were going to update the MBP, wouldn't apple.com/macbookpro have to be down too? Or would they just wait until after they update the store.

That's what i thought. But last week when the aperture came out, the aperture page was up the whole time.

look on the bright side

Look on the bright side... next week is supposedly a "event", so if we have to wait until then, maybe they'll be announcing a redesign cause it's a bigger deal.

PS: Is there really an event next week, or are we just basing rumor upon rumor?

The page for Aperature 1.5 was still up, with white plastic iMac and all, a few hours after the 2.0 update was released.

I am not aware of anyone receiving an invite to the event. Ussualy we hear about it here or another of the Mac rumor sites. No hard news yet of invitations so if it is happening, nobody been invited yet.

Expect redesign March 2009, not this year. Several nice things should be changing in the mean time including LED, but no redesign until 2009

we would have been sure about an event if apple had sent out invitations.. they apparently didn't.

When does Apple usually send out the invitations?? I was thinking that engadget and such would say something about receiving an invitation for an event the following week. So hopefully, invitations are on their way, and we can expect a big announcement next week. Something like "Oh the iPhone SDK has been delayed, and we won't be updating MacBook Pro's until the 22nm process hits shelves in 2010."

"And one more thing......You can now get itunes gift cards in 15, 25, 50 and 100 dollar denominations!!!!!"

there is always next tuesday.....;)

I am so tired of this game, and I haven't even been playing it nearly as long as many of the people around here. So, in the interests of trying to decide whether to just go ahead and buy one now or not, is there any concrete, factual evidence that an update is coming? The number of days since the last update doesn't count. Rumors about an update being ready for MWSF and then pushed back don't count. I mean, is there anything on record that says it's imminent?

Edit: I ask because as much as I hate the idea of buying one and having the update come out in a couple of weeks, I hate the idea of sitting here refreshing the store every Tuesday morning until June just as much.

Well yea!! I mean theres the rumored event next week, and the SKUs that showed up in Best Buy's system, and everybody is running out of Macbook Pros all over the place, and the price of refurbs is dropping so fast!!!

So basically no. Everything anyone knows is speculation and desperate interpretation of fact. Sorry. This is excruciating.

Did anyone stop and think maybe Apple was playing a practical joke on us? Maybe they read these forums and saw we all were waiting for a MBP so they pushed the order dates back for those that had shipping dates of Feb 10-13 to Feb 20-22.

Apple Employee: Hey Steve want to have some fun?
Steve: Yeah sure...how?
Apple Employee: Come check this out (reads and points out all the threads in the MR forums)
Steve: Yeah so what they've been saying that for weeks
Apple Employee: Yeah but watch this...
Steve: What are you doing?
Apple Employee: (changes shipping dates) now...just wait for it...wait for it
Steve: (watches).....
