Did anyone stop and think maybe Apple was playing a practical joke on us? Maybe they read these forums and saw we all were waiting for a MBP so they pushed the order dates back for those that had shipping dates of Feb 10-13 to Feb 20-22.

Apple Employee: Hey Steve want to have some fun?
Steve: Yeah sure...how?
Apple Employee: Come check this out (reads and points out all the threads in the MR forums)
Steve: Yeah so what they've been saying that for weeks
Apple Employee: Yeah but watch this...
Steve: What are you doing?
Apple Employee: (changes shipping dates) now...just wait for it...wait for it
Steve: (watches).....
MR Forums User: MY SHIP DATE CHANGED TO Feb 20-22. IT'S A SIGN!
MR Forums User 2: Let's see Tuesday ;]
MR Forums User 3: my CC is waiting!
Steve: Brilliant!
High Five!!

Now that's just cruel...

i think we should all buy the current one off ebay second hand,

itll be really cheap, 9 months old but THE LATEST APPLE MBP.

that way apple wont get our money, and apple can shove their new mbp up their assss

pah....ive had enough tuesdays to last a lifetime

First post on the board.

Let me tell you, I've been lurking for about 6 weeks now. Getting caught up in the maniacal Tuesday race and this has been the first week I had zero belief in the systems being updated.

Sure enough, we got a new iPod Shuffle. Didn't know anyone still used that, but hey...it's new..:D

Here's to another week of gut-bursting laughter about new chips that do drive-by's and more threats to SJ's well being.

PS: 6 days and a wake-up!

I'm seriously starting to question my decision to hold off. I'm starting to think it'd be a much better idea to get a 2.4Ghz 15" and start using it than to wait a month or two to have a BTO MBP in my hands. Time is money and I've already wasted quite a bit of both with this waiting on a refresh. Argh!

I'm gonna be leasing it anyways so it's not like I can't get a newer MBP when the lease is up.

hmmm

Its not lookin so good right now is it? Nothing today and still no word on the supposed event at the end of the month. And the dwindling inventory theory just doesnt seem too sound either.

Was SDK absolutely confirmed for Feb or was that rumor as well?

Amen! I was kinda hoping for a refresh that would make it easier to justify the extra cost for an MBP... looks more and more likely that I'm going to be picking up a hi-end MB instead.

What makes you think this?

The Montevina chipset will be available this summer, however it will likely have to wait until 3rd or 4th quater to be available in the quatities Apple needs. Apple will not release the new system close to Xmass, they will hold off selling them until Feb or March. The new chips will go into MBP and not MB at first. MB and iMacs are the primary target for Back to School, so little to be gained in using the new chip set as it would make the MB more powerful than the current MBP.

The current chipset (Santa Rosa) is not as exciting, so basing a new redesign on an older and hotter chip and chiset makes little sense.

Expect speed bumps, LED and larger drives, redesign in 2009.

I don't think the rumored Feb 26th event is happening since Apple hasn't made an announcement for it...that article about MBPs being updated on March 16 is looking more and more viable (I know 3/16 isn't a Tuesday but let's just say 'sometime in March'). UGH, this really sucks.

on the 27th of feb i am buying a $1999 MBP, whatever it is. i need it and i will buy it and i will suffer if they update....... the next tuesday

i guess you dont care much. but i really need one.

We wouldn't know until after the mail has been received by the media. Exactly 2 years ago Apple had a last-Tuesday-in-Feb event, and those invites were received the Tuesday before by 2:00 (at TUAW). Link: http://www.tuaw.com/2006/02/21/apple-special-event-feb-28th-this-time-for-real

Lets not run off the edge of the iCliff for another 5 hours or so... It still could happen.

And I would be perfectly happy with a speedbump!

The current MBP is about as perfect design as it could be. About the only issue is that Alum weakens the WIFI signal, but that is about it.

I will be happy if the redesign doe not occur next year or the year after.

id like a redesign, but im kinda up in the air about it.

if it means a HOTTER running mac, then leave it be steve!

what's up with this waiting game...
it's better be next Tuesday for new MBP update.

will there be an Apple event next week?
Since this revision on new MBP is so big,
I think they will introduce it with iPhone SDK.
Right?

Someone please say yes to next Tuesday!!!
I really need new MBP!!!
I can't wait longer!!!

what makes this "update" so big, besides pure speculation, and a time-table?

not a whole lot to go on.

We all think the MBP needs a redesign, but why should it come now? Why shouldnt they wait till they have a new platform to work with in JUNE?

i dont think its gonna happen. All we get next TUES( i really hope), is a bump to the new chips.

No HD upgrades, no more standard ram, and NO NEW Videocard.

Here's to hoping though. If we get a chip bump, ill buy. If not, ill probably just buy a cheap HP to hold me over.

Probably not. As much as I'm waiting and hoping for the new MBPs to come out so I can throw my Vaio into the Pacific Ocean, I have a feeling that 'ol Stevo is going to reserve next Tuesday (assuming that this isn't just yet another rumor) solely for SDK.

Who knows, maybe we'll even get a pink iPhone out of it?!?!

I'm right with you with doing something unforgivable to my VAIO. My thought is that, if there is indeed an event next tuesday which invitations could still be coming for, the iPhone SDK may not be a "mainstream" enough event to warrant such press. Yes, among iPhone users and "nerd" types like myself, this is an exciting thing. But the only other community that will care about the SDK release is the developers. Many people out there may not even know what an SDK is, and what will be important to them is when 3rd party apps come out, not when the ability to make them happens. Now its not completely ridiculous to have an event for an SDK, but it just makes more sense to have an event about a mainstream product line like the MBP. Or maybe my craving for a redesign is just skewing my logic.

I hope you are right...but unless Apple is making a more significant upgrade to the MBP than everyone is expecting, I can't see a new chipset and the addition of multi-touch warranting a special event for the MBP release.
