Just playing around I prepared a not-BTO MBP order on the Apple store. And, whereas most things ship within 24 hours, the site told me 'Ships the 19th-20th Feb'. Nothing big, just thinking. And getting ready for another patient Monday.

im sick of computers getting thinner, its not like my laptop case is getting smaller or anything, i want it to look cool like an ibook, not like a piece of cardboard spray painted grey. titanium would be cool, heck why not tungsten or iridium, or gold, why isnt the macbook GOLD, forget aluminum being attractive to recyclers make that sucker out of gold and people will look through heaps of garbage and fight wild dogs for that sucker. and why cant i see through it, it should be so luminescent that i can read what fortune cookie i didnt notice as i put my laptop down, and the bottom should be a scanner a scanner that can read CD's so i can throw all my cds in a big pile and just put my computer on top and have everything read. this penryn update is nothing NOTHING compared to what it should be and i am appauled to even hear of its existence. i hope that :apple: realizes they have been living in the past and embrace slavery, slavery of insects slavery of viruses, imagine a box full of inslaved micro-organisms they could out perform any duo smuo processor pedes down.

I agree, I hope they keep the same size and put a bigger battery lol

Really? I tried too and it just told me Ships within 24 hours.

How nice if we may post up this message..

"The long awaited MBP has finally arrived !"

I do hope this week or the following week will not be another so-called 'rumour' again. Looking forward to the new MBP.
Apple should at least give some idea stating that something is coming up. Just like Dell XPS 630.

I have been reading a lot of rumours from this website and this is my first post. :)

Ha! I love it!!

And I think to heck with the "chicklet" keyboard, the multi-touch track pad, and mighty mouse, why don't they just come out with a psychic computer? Then, I could just lean back, put my feet up, and think up a memo while my new MacBook Psych does all the work for me?

:D;):p

Originally, yes...

Do you think perhaps theyre delaying the MBPs because the think it will alter the new MacBook Air sales?

Apple probably when the Penryn chips would be ready, and should have set their sights accordingly.

I'm convinced that pro users would probably skip the MBA if new MBPs were already out - as many users really want a new MBP, but the MBA is a nice to have...

So if Apple knew Penryn's were in Feb and they could release an MBA with all the hoopla of a MacWorld, as they knew there's be a certain percentage of those needing the instant gratification and get the same suckers to pony up for a new MBP when they come out just a month or so later...

Of course, now I just wonder if those MBA buyers will be happy or frustrated come Tuesday...

I'll stick to my trusty 12" PB for portable email, web and fun stuff. Just wouldn't want to rip a DVD with it... :)

A sale is a sale. I'd bet they make about the same from a MBP sale and a MBA sale, so I don't see how they would lose money in the process. I just do not see someone going into an Apple store to buy a MBA, then sees a revised MBP, and walks off in a huff and does not buy either one.

I think its them trying to get a set amount of CPU's in stock or they are trying to extend the hype wave, as the MBA buzz dies off.

Urgh....

I just signed up here out of a deep-seated sense of brotherhood. I've been an adherant of the Church of Tuesday for a few months now, but now I'm ready to add my name to the official roll.

I feel like a walking contradiction. On one hand I'm deperate to replace my ailing PB but on the other hand I'm almost hoping it's not this Tuesday as the longer we all wait, the more significant the update is likely to be.

...Probably....

*sigh*

I hate this, but it's strangely comforting to know you're all out there with your refresh buttons too.

There's a good old firefox extension i think for auto updating pages at a set time interval of your choosing. I'm still thinking Intel put too early a date on the chip release, and it's taken them a little longer than planned to fill the bins for Apple (I imagine, that similar to previously, they filter chip quality in terms of what it can clock to etc, so to get the top bin for Apple, they will have to have manufactured a lot more lower level CPUs)... If it ain't tomorrow, it's a week tuesday for the event. Maybe it'll be a bit like MWSF, where something gets released tomorrow "to make way for" the 26th? (Though it was a bit strange in retrospect to think that the slightly less filled keynote thisyear didn't include the X Serve and the Mac Pros in it to bulk it out).

anyone...?

Can someone tell me... If this Tuesday the new MBPs are announced. How long will it be until they show up in US Apple stores?
Will they show up in all stores simultaneously the day they're announced?
Will thy trickle in to varied stores irregularly over the following weeks?
Do people that order online get theirs faster than those who buy in retail?

I just need to know how to get mine as FAST as possible. If it means a day trip from Vancouver to Seattle to pick one up, then so be it. But that new MBP cannot be in my hands fast enough. I need to have a laptop to start a new job and it's seriously holding me up.

Like MP the new MBPs will be shipped imediatly after announcement in the standard version. Only the BTO MBP you and I are looking for will take 5 to 8 weeks ;)

More evidence on Amazon rebates for current MBP's that are valid on purchases up to Monday February 18.

All things pointing to updates very soon!!!

Awesome. Please be a sign. I can't even get the 15.4'' 2.4Ghz model now if I wanted to, out of stock EVERYWHERE, and no sign of new orders either..

i've seen that Asus are refreshing there laptop line, G2 model: 17" 4gb mem 300gb hd + 160gb external hd, 8700gt 256mb, intel Core 2 Duo T9300. for 1750€.

But im really sick of windows and really want a macbook pro, just like to see in the new version, basic model: penryn 2.5+, 4gb mem, 250gb hdrive, more usb ports, 8800gt, and the multi touch track pad.

I'm waiting since October 1 ou 2 more weeks wont kill me.
