The first pic is fake too.

Notice the side of the display cover. It's supposed to be aluminum but you can see through it because the power cable is showing right through what's supposed to be aluminum..

Look at it. It's got to be fake.

You do need to consider that it was most likely taken with an iPhone and it will often have that ghosting affect when movement occurs as it loses focus.

...The second picture looks fake though.

Saw something else interesting:
http://www.tuaw.com/2008/10/13/could-this-be-the-new-macbook-pro/

Apparently this picture was geotagged 1.6 miles from infinite loop!:

Yes the first picture is convincing, but the second one is terrible (as has been pointed out several times so far in this thread by myself and others).

Interesting about the tagging, can anyone here verify that? If it's true it could mean:

- Someone faked or edited the tags to make it looks like they're near Infinite Loop
- It's genuine (although I find it hard to believe considering the second photo)
- It's an Apple HQ employee trying to throw people off the scent.
- It's a fake and just a co-incidence that they're near HQ.

Nice work sherlock.

So what that REALLY is, is the ExpressCard slot.

You mean the thing that has a cover that wasn't seen in the shell but would be present in the production models, so was airbrushed out of this POS mockup? (Which is built from the empty shell images)

Left side blurry, right side sharp?!?!?!

OK, I have this simple question to photographers here. How can it be that the left side is blurry while the right side is sharp? It doesn't seem to be a focus issue (the two sides are too similar in distance from the spy-cam), but how can it be motion related, i.e. how can the photographer have moved faster with respect to the left side than the right side of the MBP?

Just wondering...

I can't believe I'm saying this.. I like hp's laptops better. The black keyboard on aluminum is the ugliest thing EVER. It plagued the macbook air and now the MBP.

If this rumor is true, EVERYBODY GET YOUR OLD MBP NAO!

I don't really mind the design--I have the matte Penryn machine, but don't see what the big problem with the glossy is (it's just ultra high contrast). I would like to know what "2 full symmetric NVIDIA GPUs" means.

trackpad does have a button

uhh... We've already seen the keyboard and trackpad with button in a previous spy shot. I think this is just a blurry photo from an angle that doesn't show very much. Just like everybody who thinks cause the lines of some of the ports are a little blurred that it must be a fake... It all looks real to me and I think it looks really good. Trying to figure out how they can pull off a matte option though, would the entire surface be matte including the bezel? I guess it would have to be...

Also, looks like I was right about the bottom of the case having a taper. You can see the black shadow under the side on the second photo, and then a reflection of the light gray aluminum with the ports. It shows that there's about a half cm from the bottom of the ports to the actual surface of the table. And obviously we're also seeing that the back of the screen is also tapered. Cool stuff!

You guys complain too much!!! You know your going to purchase one. I think the new look is nice. It's an adjustment. Just like you guys complained when the iPhone received a plastic backing.

LOL so much negativity here.

I just wanted to say I love the glossy screen. I've had my 15" glossy screen MBP for a year and a half now. Glare isn't much an issue for me. The LED screen gets really bright and if you're not in direct sunlight then it's really not an issue. And I love the vivid colors and dark dark blacks... :)

You obviously have no need for remotely accurate colour. The glossy displays are trash for people who want things to look correct, not shiny.

if thats what you got apple for me tomm then i saved a lot of money... i am happy with mine current macbook pro...

For all you bitching about not being matte...
We have ONE spy shot! ONE!

There could very well be a matte option, but we have to wait and see

kthxbia

EDIT: Gah... beat me to it, Twenty5!

You obviously have no need for remotely accurate colour. The glossy displays are trash for people who want things to look correct, not shiny.

They're also impossible to view in ANY sunlight (my reason for not wanting one).

EDIT: Arn beat me. :(

Well... I must say I think it looks absolutely beautiful. However, a buttonless mouse sounds... Well if it is buttonless, it better be pressure sensitive, not touch. (you have to push down on the pad, vs just touching it) or I would accidently click on things all the time.

thats a fake picture, it looks hideous for sure.
Look at the bottom left and right corners where the screen meets the base.
One looks sharp cut where the other one looks like a handful of a s s h o l e s.
No way Apple will release such of POS laptop, that would be a huge gamble on their part.
I wouldn't buy that laptop even if it was under 2k.
Tomorrow will see which one of these wannabe pictures came even close to the real thing.

^ thats been photoshopped. the original poster of that pic even admitted it was 'shopped just to see what the black keyboard looked like on the new MacBook Pro case *facepalm*

Given that I've never even SEEN a current MBP with a glossy screen, I can deduce that :apple: sells a helluvalot lot more with matte screens - and it's a big differentiator for the pro market. Graphics pros won't buy glossy, as it'll be nigh on impossible to calibrate it against whatever second monitor they're using for design and proofing.

Im a pro photographer and I actually prefer the glossy screen. Of course, I have my system set up in an area that does not cause reflections.

I also like the missing trackpad button. With my old macbook I NEVER used the button, always tapped.

I do think that something looks off with the pic though... I cant pinpoint what it is, but I am thinking it has to do with the color/design scheme, it just does not appeal to me. It works GREAT on my 24" Aluminum iMac, but it just looks a bit funny as a notebook, especially the black keyboard.
