Very excited to see an Apple-specific post as opposed to AT&T and/or Verizon
+1 I'm pretty sick of the iOS news/rumors as well. Just let me know about the next version of it and the next iPod touch running it and that's all I care about.
The current MacBook Pro 13" is pretty out-of-date.
(I know, I know, the Nvidia card, but a discrete graphics card should not be an issue in the 13")
...but it is, it's too thin to support it and the optical drive isn't going to be ditched for it unless it drops the "Pro" moniker and/or becomes something new, and even then, it's unlikely.
I'd love to see a MBP with an SSD+HD no optical drive and a larger battery.
Keep dreamin'.
Yay! I'm going to buy a Mac laptop soon, and I hope the new Pros are cheaper and possibly have flash storage.
Uh...you can customize a 13" MacBook Pro today with flash storage at a price that isn't TOO ugly.
w00t, new stuff! Perhaps we'll see an iChip in the 13" model. While I'm dreaming, I'll take a high-res matte screen for the 13" and a pony.
At least you admit that your wishes for it are unrealistic.
I'm going to predict:
- MacBook white discontinued
- MacBook Air becomes the standard MacBook
Whitey has more time; schools still need an inexpensive and durable full featured Mac laptop, the White MacBook is still the only Mac in Apple's arsenal that fits that bill. The 13" MacBook Pro, however, doesn't, and in addition to that, both options for a future CPU/GPU combination for it are unacceptible to the users of that market, a problem that neither the MacBook Air nor the white MacBook have.
I think the line-up for laptops will be something like this for at least the next 6 months.
Macbook Air 11" Core 2 Duo
MacBook Air 13" Core 2 Duo
MacBook Pro 15" Sandy Bridge i5 and/or i7, NVidia GPU
MacBook Pro 17" Sandy Bridge i5 and/or i7, NVidia GPU
All models will come with SSD storage as standard.
All models will not have an optical drive.
We'll see a complete redesign for the Pro line with more space for battery.
Don't bet on it, you might lose money.
ehm, inconvenient, ehm
Light peak anybody? This is the year! Am i right?
Nope!
As much as I'd prefer the white being discontinued vs. the 13" MBP, I think if they were going to replace either with the air, it would be the MBP.
The air does not take place of the MB solely cause it's just too expensive (least for the equivalent sized one). The MB is aimed at those mostly who want something a little cheaper, not more features.
A little cheaper, but also full featured. The 11" Air, for being the same price as the White MacBook is lacking in things like battery life and performance.
Agreed,
I don't think the world, specially Pro-sumers are ready to leave optical drives just yet.
True facts. Though nor are those wanting to install things like Final Cut Studio or StarCraft II; both of which would take a day at best to download and install.
