ahh, so that explains why Steve has delayed a few things... all the stuff he comes up with... poof! gone! starts again... and so the cycle continues

You got it in one ;)

Yeah, I hear ya, however I will be getting 4GB, So I can max it out and be done with it... this way, when leopard comes out, I know already have the fastest Mac I can have to run it on, and hopefully it will prolong the useability of the computer.

And increase the resale value of the computer when the time comes... 6 months down the road to upgrade again :p

DDR2 667MHz SO-DIMM Modules are in mass production, and are very cheap to produce compared to DDR2 800MHz SO-DIMM modules which are scarce, produce more heat, and are more expensive.

DDR2 667 is the standard for laptops, its not a big deal. The Cooler running modules, and less $ will bennifit you more.

The 965 chipset used in SR platform also produce more heat, use more power. Intel could have released 667FSB Merom at 2.5GHz (166.66 x 15) and 2.66GHz (166.66 x 16) to keep memory at preferred ratio with DDR2-667 (1:2) rather than (3:5) 800FSB:667MHz combo on SR. Intel will shift to 45nm 800FSB/1066FSB Penryn with DDR3-800/DDR3-1066 (1.5v) in Q1 2008. It really makes SR upgrade less appealing other than the rumored LED screen or 13.3" MBP.

Interesting...

Thank you for shopping at
the Apple Online Store

Apple's Online and phone Order Status services are temporarily
unavailable due to a scheduled upgrade to our systems.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

I ordered a new keyboard Saturday as a spacebar, command, option, control, and shift keys are kinda important when coding. So I go into check my order status, it's a friggin keyboard and you would think it would ship today, and I get the above notice.

I'm not saying that it means anything whatsoever. Just saying it's a "little odd" under the circumstances.

Hmmm....

128 MB video RAM on the low end for the MacBook Pro? Ouch, might just get a refurbished model then.

Apple is really cutting corners when the stock is 512 MB.

yeah its been this way for well over an hour. I am trying to check the status of my RMA and can't get anywhere because I don't have the RMA # in my email and web is down.

If this is true then it will almost certainly be the same same form factor. There would be no way that they do a silent upgrade with a black MBP or something different, right?

I find it annoying. Crap like that can be done in the middle of the night.

Maybe I'm just tweaked because of having to type everything in text, since I remapped my tab key to produce a space and Safari (and FF, and Camino) don't recognize it's remapped. :(

It's a keyboard. C'mon. They can't be "low" on those. lol

But, considering the possible impending update, they would have to update accounting sometime, right?

I just remembered... it might be the keyboard with the iPod dock built into it!

And still be $29 bucks?

I'm not sure about that one. lol

If my keyboard "was delayed" a few days for that, to be honest I'd be pretty pissed off.

$19 for overnight shipping was worth it vice driving an hour and forty minutes to the closest Apple store from the gas savings alone. I could handle a day or two of decreased production, but a big delay would be tough.

Those specs don't sound too bad. A new case would be kinda groovy (please don't yell at me powerbook/mbp case fanatics :D ) but with those something like the rumors suggest would get me to buy one this summer.

Anything less then maybe I just buy a refurb Macbook and be done with it :p

The Geforce 8600M is a big leap over the ATi X1600. The other stuff is just so-so.

I'd have loved to get the new graphics card, but hey -- can't complain. :)

Aw crap, now I'm all amped up again. I was definately thinking WWDC. But instead I will be sleeping next to my ill-fated PB waiting for it to show me the new trick on the block, like a girlfriend that introduces you to your next girlfriend.

c'mooooon decent color reproduction!

I am DESPERATELY praying for a change in form factor. Don't get me wrong, I've loved the aluminum design of my 4 year old PB, but an aesthetic change would be very nice.

Honestly, this time it's the looks, not the specs, that's keeping me from buying a MBP right now. Sad, I know.
