Whew! I was trying to reason that one out… 🤣🤣Yes lol
Wonder what time will you depart in Louisville, KY?AppleCare is responsible for collecting customer feedback from Support Calls and the data IS used and provided to VPs etc at pre-determined intervals following a product launch OR if there's an unusual spike in a specific type of issue. As for returns, the data isn't nearly as detailed but what is collected usually is a general return reason and that data is also provided to the same level of people. I only know this because I worked at Apple in the past and saw how the data was used (especially during things like Antennagate and the 2010-2011 MacBook Pros with failing video cards).
Yes, if it doesn't "automatically" confirm you and they send the letter, then you will need to confirm your address that way.
Oh good idea! Do they leave any residue when you take them off (assuming you have experience with them)? This is exactly why I'm pre-ordering a dbrand skin lol
... My belief is that Apple isn't legally "in possession" of the packages until they clear US customs and can't release them to customers until they do clear, so they don't commit to a "shipped" status until they have.
The 14” seems to be a very popular model. I debated for a while before deciding to go with the 16”. Most definitely don’t NEED anything that powerful, but am looking to keep it for 5-7 years. In other news, the 16-inch is less than 4 points behind the 14-inch in the poll. I bought the 16-inch, but I thought the spread would be a lot bigger.
Looking forward to it!!! 😏I suspect Monday is going to be a very hectic day in here!
Nope, no residue. I’ve used skins for years and have never had any issues. I find that dbrand is one of the better skin produces.Oh good idea! Do they leave any residue when you take them off (assuming you have experience with them)?
I would actually go as far as saying that this forum is the ONLY reason that the prices went up for this new gen
They do not sell open box really as it is either new or refurb, but for their margins and amount they sell, a lot of the returns are absorbed. This is also why you do not hear them banning or restriction accounts for return abuse unlike Amazon. What’s the usual discount on an open-box unit? $100 to $200? Wouldn’t take many returns before they’re felt in the bottom line.
Again, Apple might not care because its fanatics — er, customers — will pay crazy prices that offset the losses, but it’s not a trivial amount of money in question.

There have been a lot of canceled orders and re-orders, and if any are like me, they are going for longevity. I was also including the other threads such as the UK where I see a lot of people more interested in the 14.I would have guessed the 14 would be 10 to 20 points ahead of the 16.

Apple doesn't own the factories, but it's all based on what I assume is very complex legal contracts for parts sourcing and assembly. I know the Foxconn factory in ZengZhou, China, where iPhones are made, is actually a weird "customs free" zone in China where the products are considered to be on US soil and don't have to pass traditional customs out of China as some other products do. It's all very complicated and interesting. I don't remember the details, but if you google it, you should find lots of info. The “possession” thing is interesting. I always think of these as coming from Apple’s factories, but that’s actually not the case.
I’m @TheYayAreaLiving’s mini me 🤣.
What hooked me on going with the 16” instead of the 14” is that I want to keep the MBP for at least 5-7 years and don’t want to regret getting the smaller screen.
My last MBP was a 15" and in 2016 I went for the 13" and have forever regretted it. Ordered the new 16".Not for nothing, but going back to my 13" MBA, I don't regret getting the smaller screen, and seeing that my wife has the 2019 16" MBP, I would also have no regrets in going to the 14". I get the fact that real estate = real estate (especially for my wife; she's legally blind and needs the larger screen), but the 14" gives me greater portability.

It seems as though with each progressive Apple purchase I make and as I get older, I’ve gone for the larger screens. I sit in front of a computer between 8-14 a day for work/school, so for me, the extra space is welcome. Granted, the 16 will be docked for most of the time, but those circumstances where I want portability, I’ll really appreciate the extra screen. Not for nothing, but going back to my 13" MBA, I don't regret getting the smaller screen, and seeing that my wife has the 2019 16" MBP, I would also have no regrets in going to the 14". Na, the bezels are too thicc to be the previous 16". It's the older, thinner 15" with them butterfly keys. Another big hint is the keyboard not having a physical escape key.Isn't he comparing it to the previous 16" model? tech sites are saying it's the 15" ?
BestBuy sells open box and so does Amazon to some extent but they are electronic or general retailers, so it is a different situation.Right, but places like Best Buy sell open-box.
Amazon cracks down on return abuse because it doesn’t want returns to put upward pressure on prices. Apple, on the other hand, let’s its other customers pay for them.
That may be true. But does MacOS support it?![]()
Apple's new 2021 MacBook Pro only comes with an HDMI 2.0 port which cannot output 4K at 120Hz on an external display
Even though Apple has finally improved the native connectivity of its all-new redesigned 2021 MacBook Pro, the included HDMI port is unfortunately not completely up to date, which results in certain limitations when connecting the laptop to an external display or monitor.www.notebookcheck.net
Both USB-C ports are Thunderbolt 4 which supports 120hz via Displayport connection. You just need a USB-c to displayport cable.
I think I got more than I need also. I did so, in part, because Costco doesn't let you customize, so I opted for the higher specs than I would have otherwise gotten. Ready to use it!I ordered maxed out 16” with 2tb … I don’t know though, seems like overkilll when my current M1 pro handles everything I throw at it … $4200 to get negligible performance. It doesn’t deliver until December so I have time to decide while in queue.
I've gone back and forth on this. I ordered the 14" to replace a late-2013 15" MBP. When I am at home, my laptop is docked to a 4K monitor, so the size really isn't an issue. While I thought I'd like the extra screen real estate of the 15", I found that when I travel on planes and trains the size of the 15" is just a little too big to comfortably work on and the extra weight was a bit of a hassle. This was particularly true if I'm sitting behind someone who has reclined their seat. The weight of the new unit will be a lot better since I can drop the ~1 lb of having a separate charger and even the 16" is lighter than a late 2013 15".It seems as though with each progressive Apple purchase I make and as I get older, I’ve gone for the larger screens.
