QUESTION: So I got charged for my MBP 14, got a definite delivery of Oct 26, in preparing for shipment, but still hasn’t shipped yet and nothing in UPS my choice or when I track by reference. I see many others already on planes. Anyone else in my boat?

Springfield has multiple Mapple stores and even a glass cube.

I have three around me but only one is a flagship.
This is my go to… Cherry Hill, NJ

Damn that looks nice, I have been to the Grand Central Terminal which was really nice even compared the Toronto flagship.
I love the store in GCT! Whenever I go to NYC, I purposely take the train just so that I can wander around terminal. Also, driving in NYC is a ******. I don’t know what‘s worse—trying to drive or getting into a cab. I’d rather take the sub.

There's definitely a good chunk of us in this situation, the running (maybe more hopeful) theory is that those ones are already stateside somewhere

Yeah we actually stayed in NJ, got a Lyft into NY and just walked around.

Jealous here that you've been charged... 16" with delivery date of 10/26. PFS but still not charged and no UPS updates. I just want to track you, MacBook!

We may not be able to track until Sunday or Monday. The lucky ones are traveling during the weekend.

So is the anchorage > louisville path the same for all orders coming from Asia? Or is it different for us west coast people?

Hard to say without seeing the tracking results from others. While Louisville is UPS's largest facility in the world, they do have major sorting hubs in Ontario, CA, Chicago Rockford, and Dallas-Fort Worth (and a few other east coast locations). I know at least a few of those places have direct flights from Anchorage so UPS may decide to fly west coast shipments into a different sorting facility.

For those of you who had your MacBooks come into Anchorage on UPS 109 via Narita, Japan, the flight to Louisville will be departing in approximately an hour:

If you want to take tracking your shipment to an extreme level, you can tune into the Ancorage air traffic control frequencies at the below link. You'll want to listen for "UPS 109."

The easiest one to listen to will be the one called "PANC Del/Gnd/Twr/App." That covers all the frequencies that the plane will be on but it could get a little congested since it is scanning between a lot of frequencies. You could also start on "PANC Del/Gnd/App" but then will need to switch over to the one that says "Tower" when the plane gets near the runway (which will be indicated by ATC saying, "UPS 109, contact tower on XXX.XX" and the pilot reading back the instruction).

Once the plane takes off it will be handled by the ANC tower for a few minutes and they will hand it off to an ANC departure controller. Eventually they will be handed off to Anchorage Center which also has a Live ATC link, but it gets pretty boring at that point.

When they are getting into SDF you can listen to them come in the same way.

Hope this is interesting for someone!

As a former flight simulator enthusiast this is the cooler thing ever :) How do you find out that sort of information (like what flight would contain your computer)?

I think it's the same for everyone. Louisville is THE hub for UPS. All of my day one Apple devices have gone through there first.

It's the same for nearly everyone. There may be the odd chance that it goes PANC-KONT, as Ontario is their west coast hub, but primarily they go PANC-KSDF. In fact, all cargo effectively makes a stop at PANC, as it is the biggest airport to accept all of those flights, especially as they fly the great circle route. If they are flying a B777 or anything twin-engine, to be ETOPS compliant they would have to stop at PANC.

If they were on FDX, they'd fly the same route, except stop at MEM instead of SDF. Coincidentally, the cargo, if headed to the US, would clear customs at PANC.
