That doc leak from Quanta a few months back showed HDMI. Those specs are almost certainly what we‘ll get in the new machines, so I’d say it’s almost a lock that we get it.

Unfortunately not 😔 It would be great if we got ProMotion this year, but I have a feeling Apple will save that for ‘22 or ‘23. Samsung has started to produce high refresh rate laptop-size screens, but I don’t think it’s to the point we’d see theirs (or anyones) in MacBooks this year
I have a feeling it is Atleast 2-4 years behind. Apple is all about focusing on performance and battery life right now. The market is still very immature. Look at how many years it took Apple to implement 120HZ on an iPhone.
I can play this game as well Timmy boy, we all know these new macs with these M series chips are more than capable and ready for 120hz.
They will hold back 120hz until next year, so they can push more sales.

I'm still using a 2007 MBP that needs a new right fan and an optical drive. A 2021 M1X would be a huge step up.
Going to be a MASSIVE step up, I was blown away by the M1 chip, this thing is going to destroy it. 😬😳😱

and that comes from a guy with a DSLR with a SD card - I do not want a laptop with a SD card slot.
And I also do not want MagSafe, standard USB-C charging works perfectly and adding MagSafe just adds cost and no benefit
unfortunately for you, most of the ports are making a comeback.

The latest rumor about the surface laptops is that AMD is designing an ARM chip for MSFT… so maybe in a couple years…
I am really excited because I need to replace my maxed out 13" MacBook Pro from mid-2015. It has been a fantastic machine for Python dev and some light photo editing. I nearly jumped onto the M1 MacBook Air, but with a first child last year I needed to hang on a bit longer.
I think I'll be going for a pretty maxed our 16" given I'll be doing much less flying for a few years at least. I'm pretty comfortable with just having a much faster machine and don't find I need a lot of ports - so all updates are likely an improvement. A magsafe port would be useful and a nod to fantastic design for what is normally an ordinary component.

For me its an easy way to add an extra 1TB for cheap. It will be great for movies and songs and photos
