Suit yourself. I will happily upgrade to apple SoC Mac.

Stay on a piss poor Intel Mac thats heats up, has horrible battery life and fans that sound like a jet engine when watching a 4k video.

Its funny cause Intel is legacy on the Mac platform. So if you are using Intel Mac, thats IMO worse than HDMI, SD card and MagSafe returning.

There will still be 3 USB-C ports.

oh if you wanna skip this gen of macbook. You will be waiting 5 years for the next gen. Good luck using a Intel Mac for that long.

If I were you I much rather put up with SD and magsafe, they are MUCH better than having to deal with Intel CPU going brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr all the time.

I actually have a M1 MBA :) that I expect to suit me just fine for the next 5 years ;)

My M1 MBA replaced a 2019 15" MBP and I do not miss those whiiiiiiiiny days LOL

Not for nothing, but I'm 10 years on Sandy Bridge, so it can be done. Would I do it with any of the Lake processors?

I have one of the old usb-a that sticks out maybe 5mm or so, similar to SD card, I assume those exist for usb-c but haven't really checked

I have to agree. I'd be surprised if it came back as well. I mean, I can count on one hand how many times I've used the SD slot on my MBA, and still have fingers remaining.

I'd like a 16 or 16+, 32 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD and that's it. It would be nice to be able to minimize dongles. I have a USB-C to USB-A port hub and hopefully that would be enough for when I use it at a desk. I have used SD cards on my MacBook Pro in the past. They are a way to get a lot of cheap, slow storage to carry with me on trips. I also used them to move files around from system to system but I just do that using a NAS at home these days.

I'd love two USB-A ports for when I'm on a trip and I have a keyboard and mouse with me (car trip; I don't carry a keyboard on a plane trip). I'd like Ethernet as well and I expect that to be on the Magsafe brick. I guess I'll need to order an extra Magsafe brick unless the MacBook Pro will have USB-C and Magsafe charging. I don't have a USB-C charger though I have an 18-Watt USB-A charger and that might be a possibility.

Wow, they've already removed the Jobs tribute entirely from their homepage! That does open the possibility up for today... Sure would be cool. I still think next Tuesday or the Tuesday after that are far more likely, though. :(

Thinking about specs I would love a 32GB with 1TB of storage.
But truthfully, I'll buy a base model if it has magsafe, just so I can pick it up at my local Apple Store.
I have a base model M1 Mini and it's incredible. If the 14" base model has an M1X, I know there's nothing I can't do on my Mini, so the sky will be even higher on the 14"!

Just joined to join in on this joint right here. Good to meet ya kids!

16" was my vote. Hoping for 32gb/1 TB from the jump. This will be my first Mac. Go easy on me 😉. I am done with Windows & PCs. Although I will admit these new Framework laptops turned my head. Hoping their thing catches on in the other side.

To repeat a question from like pg 2 that I think went unanswered - does anyone know whether the education discount will be applicable to these new MBPs???

Also, is it best to pre-order on the website or line up at a store? Anybody got covid era experience with the rush from last year? I have been desperate for these things, miraculously holding my flow together with spit/paste/tape and swallowing the stress. Been saying "just a little longer... " for a year or so now. About to bridge the gap by pulling maneuvers, working the system. The m1x pros coming out this year will literally be a life changing event for me. I am not being dramatic nor exaggerating. I am so looking forward to moving on the next step. Please, please, please announce soon, Apple!! 🙏

I cannot wait to order the 14 inch! I am still using a MacBook Pro (the first retina) from 2012 and I would be GLAD with HDMI making a return. In fact, I am using it daily to hook up my monitor from work.

The euro price will probably make me want to cry (16 GB version at least!) but it has been so long, I can justify it now. Was just waiting for a redesign

Education discount should be immediately available on the new MBPs.
