MacBook Pros Trickling In

Order times....

Yeah, I placed my MacBook Pro order (originally for the 1.8, custom-ordered with 100GB 7200RPM drive and 2 512MB memory chips) around the beginning of Feb. and they're estimating it will ship out around March 3rd. - delivered "by March 8th."

(Actually, I paid extra for the 2-day delivery upgrade, so I'm personally expecting more like March 7th. -- since there's a weekend between the two dates given.)

I ordered with the educational discount though - so not sure if that is also slowing things down? In the past, I know several people who felt their edu. orders took about an extra 4-5 days on new products ordered soon after release. That might make sense if Apple gives priority to people who paid full sticker price....

For us 1.83 watchers- I just wanted to chime in that mine shipped- Feb 22- one day early. This was stock ordered 10 min after the store went back up- with edu discount- so to the post asking if this slows things down, I would say no.
 
The education discount didn't slow down the arrival of this beauty in front of me! It is a nice computer, and all my doubts are gone. The CD drive is a little loud when I'm ripping cds - probably to be expected. These "noises" other people are hearing... well, there is noise. But it's a machine. So it should make noise. I'm usually pretty sensitive about stuff like that, and I really have to say that this would never bother me. Still wondering about battery life... I'm gonna configure it today.

I also want to say - and I don't think this has been talked about much yet - Frontrow on a laptop is brilliant. It's easily the feature that's getting the most wows from housemates, etc. The next party I host, I'll get to play DJ while I mingle!

But after a quick trip to the World Clock widget, it looks like that was technically last night and, as of this posting, its about 4:30 in the morning now – almost time to open for business again!

I am not sure if this makes a difference but i opt'ed for the 2.0ghz and added the 120gig HDD. Has anyone seen/experienced "custom" machines taking this long to ship?

I ordered my 2.16 Ghz with a 100 GB HDD on the same day as you and my estimated ship date is the 16th of March too! :( It'll probably ship much sooner, though...I hope.

Are you sure it left China? It doesn't say "Package received after FedEx cutoff"?

I guess is that the received after the FedEx cutoff means the 22 won't be included in the shipping days, thus my 2-day package will be recieved on the 24, or something like that:).

I checked this when I got home maybe 15 minutes ago, wich it wasnt quite 3:48 EST, but it said shipped. When I checked it at school that latest entry wasnt there. It recently shipping and I am assuming times are EST, but I didnt find it on the page.

Too bad--I like to leave my flash reader installed all the time, and something sticking out (worse than CardBus already does) to catch on my laptop bag (and transmit force inside the machine) is a shame.

But it's the standard I guess, not Apple's choice.

I'm starting to hope there is NOT a smaller size Core Duo MacBook on the way. Because it will be very hard for me to be objective about whether I truly need one :)
 
What is the shipping weight on you guys' packages? Mine says 4.5kg and I thought I remembered seeing a screenshot of the Intel Powerbook's ship tracking and it said 3.5kg.

Looking at those pictures, is that the Core Duo visable in the battery bay? Even though it probably isn't, it sure looks like it and would be a nice touch. Not noticed it there in any of the other pictures before.
 
I ordered a 1.83 the 19th of January. Estimated ship date of teh 28th. Still hasn't shipped.:(
 
Mine says it is still in China. I have my fingers crossed for a fri delivery. Does anyone know if they way it was shipped, will they try to deliver on a sat? Apple shows it to be delivered next Monday (God, I hope that is wrong.) It seems like most received it much faster- any thoughts?
 
I got a shipping charge invoice e-mail for my 1.83 MBP today, and I can no longer cancel the order. Hope it ships out soon! I want it so much.

I'm so happy with my awesome MBP - hope you guys get yours soon - and notice that the 'cut off time' didn't seem to affect my delivery at all! In fact I got it inside 2 days :)
