According to the Apple Store tracking, mine made it from Amsterdam to Daventry, where it's hooking up with a cute little video adapter before heading for the Sussex Riviera.

Maybe tommorow?

UPDATE: Out for delivery!

Woo, Yay & Houplah!

Grrrr. Still stuck in Arnhem.

Has anyone made a Bridge Too Far jokes about that yet? Or was that somewhere else.

Never mind, the 1Gb memory stick will be here today so I can play with that over the weekend instead ...

:D My 1GB memory will arrive today as well, and my MBP is stuck in the
Netherlands till the beginning of next week..

Looks like memory playing for me as well! ;)

Thats what I thought I'd be doing, after the TNT lady said it was in customs hands over the weekend, and there was nothing I could do to get it bwahhahahaha...
Right now thats over, I'm still waiting for a delivery! Every van and car that goes past my door is playing tricks with my mind. Even the wind blowing the letterbox is getting to me! Sweet salvation release me!

- Knock knock!
- Who's there?
- (From the other side of the door) Mr. Antiquote?
- Yeeeeessss? (Eyes closed and hands together in prayer)
- We've got a package from... let me see... App...
- IT'S HERE, GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY, GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!! :D
...
(shuts the door - sounds of cardboard tearing and styrofoam cracks)
- OMFG! It's beautiful!!
(runs for digital camera and begs girlfriend to take a picture of every single step of the unpacking process from every single angle...)

Photos on way...

Quick first impression:

1 - I find it kinda heavy, especially to carry about.
2 - Power brick is not "large" about the same height as a 3g iPod, slightly wider and twice as thick.
3 - The protective case seems pretty good quality.
4 - Damm its sexy.

Edit:

WTF is that hissing sound? Started almost as soon as it got to the blue loading screen.

Be careful! Sounds like the camel picked up a snake friend on it's trek across the world ...

Mine is exactly the same way. There is a discussion about this on the apple discussion boards. Looks like everyones got held up if it was going to the states.
Can you post the link?

Looks like they removed the post. Everyone one was basically complaining that there fedex package doesn't show it ever left china. It really had no relevence to the Macbook Pro for say so i'm sure the apple moderator removed it.

I'm very interested in seeing how the apps I use fair running under Rosetta. If anyone else uses Maya, After Effects or CS please post the speed differences between the old PC processors and the new Duo's. Run the same? Slower? Faster??? I can handle the same speed or faster just not slower.

I guess that still applies, because it usually goes to the states first, but then it has to come over here to Canada.

Mines just arrived!

:D

Fits in my Crumpler Gimp OK

I'm running extended hardware test (including another 1GB of 3rd party RAM) and then I'll zero out the drive and install the OS X components that I want.

I hear no odd noises!

:D

Is it a 1.83 or a 2.0?

Here is an update for all of those with a 1.83 that has been stuck in China for a few days. I just checked my tracking and it shows as of 7:14 it is in Alaska. I know that a few of us are in the same boat, so I just wanted to give everyone a heads up to check your tracking- it now is being updated. The bad news of course is that my hopes for a fri delivery, or a pick up by me on Sat are now dead. It still shows that it will be delivered this Monday by 10:30.

I can't complain to Apple- as I selected free shipping- but given that they all went out "2day" I would hope that Apple sticks it to fedex and gets some sort of rebate for the shipping on their end. Mine times 900 laptops would seem to be a big chunk of change...Man, who am I kidding, like a large company like Apple cares that 900 laptops were stuck in China for almost 3 days.

Well, time to cut myself off from the "checking these boards every 5 min" and get back to my normal life. It is just a computer after all, right? Must resist urge to go to an Apple store to get one 2 days earlier....must....resist.....Rational thought that I saved $200 with edu discount is worth a small delay slaps me back to reality.

Mine also shows that it arrived in alaska at 7:14. Our MBPs are shipping buddies :D I also was hoping for a friday delivary or a saturday pickup but i really doubt that will happen now. Oh well. I'll have to check what flights are departing ancorage to go to indiana. I think they are supposed to go to indiana next anyways...

Well, stayed up all night last night waiting for the FedEx tracking update on my 1.83 ordered on 1/10 and apparently it has been sitting on the shanghai airport tarmac for over 36 hours. Someone needs to review their math skills, I paid for 2 day shipping and my est. arrival date on the FedEx website is 2/28. I mean REALLY, are they shipping this thing on a rice boat or what? Some have called FedEx and their excuses have been everything from bad weather to the pilot having a little too much Saki. I have my suspicions that NONE of the 1.83's have even left CN. I think that these FedEx trackers were initiated so someone could make good on their "promise" that the 1.83's would be shipped this week.
