Anyone else experiencing VLC freezing when playing MKV files on macOS 27 Beta 1? Mine freezes every time I try to play an MKV. Works fine on macOS 26. Wondering if it's a VLC compatibility issue or a Beta 1 bug.
Just tried it myself, no issues. While trying to play the fight in VLC, check the errors and warnings panel.

Try another MKV file as well and also check for the same issue in the new user environment.

AirPlay from the Music app on my MacBook Pro M5 is being wonky. The song will be playing to either a Sonos or Bose AirPlay speaker and even though the song is still playing and the time is moving on the Music app, the sound cuts out from the speakers. If I move the slider in the song time back or forward, sound resumes but will cut out again shortly after. I feel like this happened last year too but I can't recall when or if it was during the beta testing. It was fine previously on 26.5.1 and previous to that during MacOS 26.

Edit to add: No issues AirPlaying from the Music app on my iPhone also running the iOS 27 beta to the same speakers.
Same, sometime it will quit playing on airplay then start playing on my Mac. It seem very random.

It appears the new Siri voices and dictation model are not available for macOS yet.
There is nothing related to the new voice in the Siri settings like on iOS and iPadOS and no preview of the new dictation model in the keyboard settings like iOS and iPadOS.
And even on iOS I'm pretty sure the new dictation toggle doesn't actually do anything yet, Apple said that was a massive LLM that*require* at least 12 GB of RAM and nothing less and yet there is absolutely no indication that any massive LLM is being downloaded to the phone.
No progress bar, no "Downloading" text near the toggle, no heating up of my phone, nothing. And dictation is still as hit and miss as ever.
I'm pretty sure it's just a placeholder toggle in Beta 1.

Has anybody tried to use their phone for continuity camera? Nothing I do can get it to recognize that my iPhone is available for it. Wifi and Bluetooth are on, phone is right by the computer, restarted both devices, no luck. I have tried plugging the phone into the computer as well.
Was thinking about installing the beta but this is a dealbreaker for me since I use continuity camera for work. Is it still broken for you?

Apple Watch unlock not working on MacBook on beta. Anyone else having this issue?
I had the same problem. Please check the following points — after that, it worked again for me:

  1. On your Mac, go to System Settings → Touch ID & Password (or Login Password) and make sure your Apple Watch is enabled for unlocking the Mac.
  2. Verify that:
    • Wi-Fi is turned on on the Mac.
    • Bluetooth is turned on on the Mac.
    • The Mac and Apple Watch are signed in with the same Apple Account.
    • Two-factor authentication is enabled for that Apple Account.
    • The Apple Watch has a passcode set and is unlocked while being worn on your wrist.
  3. Turn the feature off, restart both the Mac and the Apple Watch, and then turn the feature back on. This often resolves pairing or connectivity issues.
After following these steps, it started working again for me.

I hope so too. Wish I had another Mac on 26 still to compare to, but I feel like before the box *behind* the active tab was the same color as the inactive tabs. Now it just looks.. weird.

I'm sure they'll fix it!
Looks like a visual glitch which I'd assume they'll fix in the betas but after Tahoe, all bets are off

Should work now. But I am still on Sequoia and can't test it.

When checking from within Little Snitch, it still reports “No update available” to me; I'll try using the dmg file.

For now, in order to access the network, I haven't uninstalled Little Snitch, but rather deactivated it in System Settings→Network→Filters. It's easier than uninstalling (I thought I'd share this possibility, as it hasn't been mentioned in this thread).

I must say I am more and more tempted to install this on my one and only M2 Air
I did, on my M2 MBA, and have been very surprised by the stability and speed. Used to Sequoia, still haven't noticed any speed difference, except perhaps a bit in network latency and the response to ejecting USB disk connected via an Anker 7 to 1 adapter (USB-C connection to the Mac). It can take several seconds longer to eject disks, compared Sequoia, but it is not a huge difference. I do not use any esoteric software, just Office 2021 and the Brave browser.
Still, for a beta, this has been the best first version of macOS I have ever seen, since OS9! Hope to see the final version soon.
