If it is just a matter of not wanting to appear to stand out from the crowd,

There will always be occasions where you are the one who stands out on something like skin colour. And if you avoid those circumstances then you are sadly helping to create segregation. You should still try and go along and not worry about it too much :).

I'm sure Macrumors has members of all shapes, colours and sizes! :D

+1

And yes while I'm white I've been to South East Asia/Japan/China where actually you are the one who stands out (well aside from on the advertising ) and it simply shouldn't matter.

I might try and make some little apple cupcakes if i can figure out how to do the flavouring (might try it like the G3 iMacs - blueberry, raspberry etc) :D

The Snow might be a problem, this is the south east and in August....

I'll see if I can come down, Ayr to London shouldn't be too hard thanks to Ryanair.

Couldn't Arn make a remote appearance through iChat? That would be awesome! :D

That would indeed be awesome. Arn, talk to us!

Fortunately, that's so not what the day is about. It's about lazing around in the sun, drinking beer and wine, eating food, listening to music, playing football and frisbee... meeting up with new people and generally larking about. You might get the occasional geek-chat, but it's not an official MacRumors event.

Don't bring laptops.

Sounds about right, whoever you are. :p

Should I come, I will have my laptop with me. Hey, 3 hours on the train (return) I need to entertain myself somehow!

I might even bring some homemade gingerbread cake with me. :D

Alright, flight and hotel are booked. I will arrive a day in advance, so if anyone wants to show me some nice pub the evening before, raise your hand. Gracile, young single women's hands preferred. :D

I'll be at the cambridge folk festival, gutted. we should arrange a liverpool one, other end of the country, so its all fair!!!!

Then go ahead. You're not going to find the London Demis organising anything elsewhere since we don't know the areas/pubs etc. Someone in the area (any area) needs to seriously think about whether they've got the time to commit to setting something up and then post accordingly to find out if anyone else is interested - that's how the first London one came about.

Yes please. :)

Makes me kinda wish I could bring a thermos of tea with me.

Excellent. The more the merrier. Pity we're not having a barbecue, otherwise you could bring some bratwurst from Germany... still, I can imagine the combination of MacRumors members, sunstroke, strong ale, footballs, frisbees and combustible materials meaning a potential turn for the wurst.

:::::::

I'm just posting today to let you all know that details of exactly where and when the picnic will take place will be posted in this thread within the next week or so when I've got round to organising a few bits and pieces.

I'll update the first post in this thread and also tack on the details in a new post, just to make sure that everything is clearly signposted.

So, stand by... and all will become clear very very soon.
