This may not be the right place to ask this, but, OK. Dumb question. This will be my 4th iPhone and I seem to screw up the setup everytime. Is it best to just sync the new phone to iTunes or do you "restore" from your last backup? My contacts, etc. will sync through MobileMe so that is not a problem; and tunes, movies, etc will sync right in. But I want to be sure all my Apps will retain the data that they contained in the 3GS. Any advice?
Back up your current iPhone first, forced back up.
When you register then set up your new phone you can choose to restore from an existing backup. Do that and all your existing stuff will be restored.

Thanks. I'm hoping this will be a smooth transition (and soon!).

With as big a deal as these things are, I'm still surprised they aren't broadcasting live. Especially if they let the TV networks re-broadcast portions, it could really give them some huge play.

If the government can do it (and well: wh.gov), Google and Microsoft too, Apple seems behind-the-times. Might also free up some seats for REAL developers to attend instead of flooding the place with reporters and blogers.

But then there wouldn't be a point for the press to go there and paying money to have the exclusive.

I personally would not be bother check the twits or the forum if would be streamed, of course I like it, but what journalist would gain? And you are right, maybe would free up some seats, which means also why bother spend those money?

Money DOES help resolve a LOT of problems and it allows choices. Can't argue with that.

I'm unsure about Jobs' responsibility to investors though. For many years investors in the large part ignored Apple - recall Steve had someone else in charge when the IPO was announced & official and was ousted. However I completely agree as a CEO and Apple as a team they've done GREAT; first best move: iMac, then iPod, going Intel! That Intel move helped the fanboys and juiced up the investors sweet spot like sugar addicts.

I think its time I figure out how to purchase some stock directly (via online trades). I think its set to go north of $350 in less than 8mths.

Going to have to wait IMO. I would have agreed with this until the at&t cap on the iPad. A year from now iPad app developement will be to the point where 2g is a weeks use for many.

We have spent a Trillion dollars on fibre optic infrastructure capacity for the internet since 1995. It's going to to be many years before the iPad can be used as it was designed with cellular.

IMO, this time next year APPL will still be under $300 unless they do a 20-30 billion buy back which is very possible. Don't know how the market will react to that. Although I would like to see Apple do at least a 20 billion buy back.:apple:

It seems like forever for this event to get here! I'm ready to retire my iPhone 3G. It's starting to show its age. I don't want the 3GS because I wasn't to thrilled about it last year. I think the iPhone that most techy guys were wanting last year will be seen tomarrow. None the less it will be good. Some of you guys that think its gonna disappoint should be more positive. You never know what else they have in store, so just sit tight and relax!

Since MacRumors didn't mention it, I will.

The keynote address is scheduled to be delivered by Steve Jobs at 10am PDT (1pm EDT) on Monday 7 June 2010 from Moscone Center (San Francisco, California).

Thank you.

Deliver Now!

The Guardian seems pretty convinced that Apple will release new 4G's in 32GB and 64GB, whilst keeping the 3GS, but lowering it to an 8GB model.

Perhaps 16GB is dead?

if Apple keeps the old technology keeping 3GS when iPhone HD available android market will win ...

unless of course they are selling the 3GS with out 2 year contract ($55 x 24 )= $1320.

i see this WWDC for iPhone as "Deliver now or regret later"; ;)

definitely people are keeping eye on Android regardless of it's shortcomings (only thing stopping them is iTunes and App store; app store can be created by Google, iTunes?)

And the massive fragmentation that exists with Android and will continue unless Google gets the hardware makers in line.

"We're calling this new magical device....the iPhone GSM...and it starts shipping late in Q4 folks...plenty of time to get your pre-orders in...."

Unless Jobs' opening line is that^, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be disappointed.
:D

Just a quick question guys, do you reckon the iPhone 4G/HD/3GSS will be sold unlocked by Apple in the UK? Seeing as large amounts of carriers now carry the iPhone - I really hope they do because I'm on an 18 month contract with 3 :(

I'll be in school at the time of the keynote:mad: I'm going to bring my iPod to school to see if i can secretly check macrumors under my desk or something :) I know the WiFi password at my school, so it may work.

I always waited when I was in high school. Never worried about it. I knew I would be able to read about it later in the day or hear it from someone else at school.

When I was in college I would follow as best as I could. Bring laptop, check on my phone, whatever.

As for tomorrow? I'll likely be driving between appointments so I'll stream TWiT and use the audio-in on my head unit. During the appointment I'll be getting updates on my iPhone and maybe check my computer while installing the applications I need to.

for us on the other side of the pond, who are just as excited...

At the moment you can buy a PAYG O2 Iphone 3GS, then pay 02 £15 and get it unlocked within 3-4 days (have done it twice). Hopefully they will continue this with the new iPhone.

I use mine on t mobile solo sim - 600 mins, unlimited texts and tethering all for £20 and a 30 day contract.

Love my Macs, but after using an EVO all weekend, Apple is going to have to have some monumental iphone announcements to keep me as a customer.
