Installed watch OS 2 last night. Usually by this time each day (around 4PM) I have 70 - 80% battery still remaining. After the update, at this time of the day (4PM), I'm down to 39% ...

10 hours off the charger and have been playing with the watch more than ever today... and still at 74%

So my Watch was on the OS 2 GM for the past few weeks. Today I got a 12.5 software update that I assume was to patch the critical bug that delayed the OS 2 release to the public. I never have less than 40% battery left when I go to be (between 11pm-12am est). However, after updating there seems to be something causing massive battery drain as I got an alert that I was down to 10% at 7:55pm and by 8pm I was down to 6%. Anyone else experiencing the same problem and if you are do you have a fix?

Here is my story---After Updating to OS2 yesterday I too noticed significant battery drain. During my normal day I average anywhere between 2% -3% per hour battery drain with OS1. I'm retired and at home most of the day, but I do use the watch to view and respond to messages, look at emails, check weather, small tasks like that.

After upgrading I was using as much as 5% -8% battery per hour doing my normal watch activity!

So earlier today I did a encrypted backup of my phone on iTunes, then un-paired then re-paired the watch. Once that process was complete I then charged both units back to 100% and began monitoring my battery.

It's been 2.5 hrs now and my battery remaining is 99%. That's way better than with OS1 now! I have been checking emails, a few messages and check MLB.com for my Detroit Tiger page since re-pairing. I'm using the watch as normal and so far getting great results.

I'll continue to monitor the battery throughout the day.

I was actually going to post a question asking if anyone noticed the opposite. My battery life has significantly increased after updating to OS2. Weird.

Had to do the unpair and re-pair dance to get my battery life back to normal. Lost 1/2 the standing goal but still was able to get the exercise and move goal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I updated last night so I lost everything from last night to about an hour ago. A perfect month of move gone. Bummer.

Battery on my Apple Watch Sport 38mm is dying in no time after I updated from the watchOS 2.0 GM-seed to the final release... I was baffled as I did update my watch right before I went to bed yesterday and I take it off the charger and have in on me during sleep as I use it as a silent alarm in the morning, the haptic feedback is more than enough to wake me in the morning and thus I'm not annoying my girlfriend.

This morning I notice something odd, as I wake up about 1,5 hours after I would normally and noticed my Watch had ran out of battery. Strange as it was 100% when I went to sleep at around 00:30, it should not be able to die out on me during the night as it's just sitting idle for 7-8 hours before my alarm goes off.

I just figured it had to be some kind of freeze or something that made the battery vanish in no time. So I put it on the charger and it got to about 98% before I had to leave in the morning. Before 13:00 at work it was starting to nagging me about there only being 10% battery left.. Normally I use it for a 30 min bicycle ride but this morning I had to carry something to work at that made me take the bus instead of the bike so there was no reason why the battery should drain this fast. Having no charger at work I simply tried to force reboot it to see if that help, but it just dropped from 10% down to 8% down to 0% in a matter of minutes..

I did fully charge it when I got home from work and took it on me while I did some weightlifting and after being on my arm for 1,5 hours it has already dropped from 100% down to 75% which quite frankly is insane....

Normally I would take it of the charger at 100% at around 08:30 in the morning, use it for about 60 min workout each and everyday and use it for all kinds of notifications etc during the day and still have 30-40% at around 22:00 when I put it to charge in order to reach 100% before I go to bed as I'm using it while I'm sleeping and then it will normally have above 95% when I wake up.

I have been on every developer build for watchOS 2.0 and expect the first few ones that was very rough and with some huge battery problems I have not seen anything like this at all.. What's even more fun is the fact that the GM-seed with it's major bug worked much better compared to this final build... I didn't have any battery issues with the previous build at all and now my Apple Watch is pretty much useless.

After I did my unpair and and repairing with restoring from the back up, I cant say the battery has improved yet but now the watch does unlock when I unlock my phone which for some reason stopped after I did the update last night. I am currently now at 41% which is still horrible considering a average day I am at 55-65% at about midnight, and on weekend I usually will not charge it Saturday night and it will last all Sunday also.

I was losing 10-15% per hour this morning, I re-paired the watch , charged it again and it seems to be back to normal, give it a try I hope it helps you guys.

glad i'm not the only one having problems. took mine off the charger at 8am, just died at around 4pm. hopefully the unpair/pair works when i get home.

I put mine on Power Reserve during lunch at 13%, and after five hours when I got home, it was at 10%. Unpaired and re-paired, and added some juice to the battery. I'm heading to the store and will see how much it drops while I'm out.

[adding on] I didn't seem to lose any Activity data at all. The watch didn't track anything while in Power Reserve (normal behavior, right?), but the rings are now as full as they were earlier today. No big deal since I woke up around 0430 and already had logged nine hours of Stand time.

I usually end the day with ~60% battery, was on 15% today without using it significantly more than usual.

May try an re-pair (just struck me that that's kind of a funny pun in this situation, but I digress) at the weekend, half hoping we get 2.0.1 soon though to fix it before I do that!

Same here, except I did most of my playing around last night so just normal use today. 77% after about 10 hours, which I think is even better than before I updated. No idea what the difference is between those with battery drain and those without.

NO data loss? Nice. Starting today, I will unpair and pair again after I update and only update early in the day so I have time to recover if I lose anything.

I took mine off the charger at 6 a.m. and it was at 10% battery by 9:30 a.m. I just wiped the watch and am setting up as new to see if this solves it. I had no problems with the previous GM build...

Glad to say that after dropping down to 9% last night before putting on my charger (not normal usually in 20-30s after that many hours but then there was the upgrade to take into account and playing around), I took it off this morning at 9:45a and here at 4pm it's at 75%. Been making calls, setting alarms, using Siri to perform some tasks, checking activities ring, reading some mail. So hopefully I'm okay.

I did add Battery to the complication on my watch face just to keep an eye on it.

Update: now 11:20 pm and only at 48% so feeling good about it.

I'm not sure either. Another user said he had trouble with the Dark Sky complication loading, and I did, too. I may try loading apps and complications one at a time to see which ones go crazy.

I took mine off the charger at 730 this morning... At 52 now. One 20 minute walk tracked... Normal use. I typically end the day at midnight with 50-58 % left- so I am running 10-15% lower than normal with os2. I don't really want to re-pair.. I am a little ocd about creating another duplicate source entry in health...

Wearing since 7AM. Almost 13 hours later and it's at 48%. No issues here.

I wasn't having an issue before, but it finally got me today.

So the resolution to this problem should be unpairing the watch then re-pairing it?
