I had the problem last night and this morning but after my battery totally drained and I recharged to 100% it's back to normal. Thankfully I didn't have to repair.

I did a re-pair after installing WatchOS2. Battery dropped from 100% to 83% for 6 hours. And this includes moderate fiddling with some apps. Battery life is around the same as 1.0.1 for me.

Same here, except I did most of my playing around last night so just normal use today. 77% after about 10 hours, which I think is even better than before I updated. No idea what the difference is between those with battery drain and those without.
I took mine off the charger at 100% at about 9:00 this morning, after finishing the update to 2.0. Did not unpair/pair the watch, reset settings, restore from iTunes or anything else - I simply rebooted both the phone and watch just for good measure. Now, over 14 hours later, it shows 61%. Battery life is as good or better than it was on 1.0.1.

It seems like there's a "massive battery drain" thread after every OS update ever. Still can't figure out how it causes it for some people but not others.

I think people are just using their watch more than usual, trying the new stuff out.

When their usage goes back to normal, so will their battery life.

No there was a definite drain. Same thing happened on the GM. Drain doesn't go away until you re-pair the watch. I can usually take the watch off the charger at 2pm at 100% and work a 16 hour shift (4pm-8am) and when I get home it's at 45%. The other day it died by 3am. Once I re-paired when I got home, it was fixed. After updating to the newest build, battery issue came back. Just finished re-pairing again and will see if the drain is fixed tomorrow.

Unlink and restore from backup did wonders for me. Took if off the charger at 08:30 and I'm still at 100%. Compared to yesterday I would have been under 70% already.

Not true. I have to take my watch off because I can't wear it at work. When I took it off I was at 94%. When I got back 8 hours later it was completely dead. Usually I'm at around 70%. Like I said though it seems much better after I let it completely drain and fully charge. Maybe there is an initial huge drain the first few days when it's trying to resync all the data such as emails and pics??

So far, so good. Haven't reloaded any third-party complications yet, but feeding in a couple third-party apps at a time.

What I'd like to see in an update to the Watch app is a screen of battery usage stats, similar to what the iPhone does for itself. It would have narrowed down the runaway app(s) easily.

I had battery issues the first day. I thought I was playing with the watch more but it was a definite drain. I was losing about 10% an hour. I read on this thread, that unpairing/pairing would fix it. I did that and today the battery has been much better than before so thank you for that!

I put on the watch at 7:50 am and now at 1030 am it's still at 96%.

I think the 'live' wallpaper sucks up battery juice.
I haven't used any "live" wallpaper (whether time lapse or photo album) for more than a few seconds, so I wouldn't suspect it to be a problem.

Possibly. I updated mine around dinnertime on Monday, and it spent most of Tuesday morning in Airplane Mode, eventually landing below 17% at lunchtime. It should have synced enough on Monday (in fact, it appeared to be fully ready soon after restarting), and should not have been trying to sync anything for the first half of Tuesday.

Anyway, it looks good now. I only had a couple third-party complications before, and I might try adding one to test.

I'm experiencing the power drain too, but I don't want to reset my watch as I've got two days worth of data that hasn't yet synced to the Activity App. I got an award yesterday.

I noticed the power drain last night as I was getting into bed. It was at 9%. Usually I go to bed and its at about 55%. But I did go to the gym last night and go a bit crazy.

This morning I went to the gym, didn't go so crazy, but I'm up to 880 calories since 6:30am.

I've tried to force a sync, but no matter what I try, I can't get todays data or yesterdays into the Activity app on my phone.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've restarted my watch and phone about five times this morning, I've fiddled with airplane mode and handoff (which incidentally errored) but I can't get the data to sync. Usually its pretty quick.

Thanks

Doesn't the iPhone sync and store all the data as you unpair it? At least that's what the phone told me when I unpaired it yesterday and the workout I had 30 min before I unpaired was in the activity app after the restore?

Can anyone tell me if your Apple Pay cards are stored if you restore from an iTunes back-up? My bank weren't the most efficient in authorising my card the first time around, I don't fancy the idea of having to go through it again!

Any un-pair is going to cause the cards to be added again. However, you'll be happy if you give it at some point. It feels like I'm having to add cards back to my phone or watch 2x a week. ha.

The battery drain is real. My watch has been fine since the update. My wife's, on the other hand, goes from fully charged to stone dead in about 4-6 hours.

One thing: how was your upgrade experience? My watch, which has been acting fine, upgraded smooth as silk, took about 20 minutes. The wife's watch, upgraded simultaneously with mine, took hours to install. Coincidence?

My wife is having massive battery drain on her 38mm.

I had her unpair and repair and then restore this morning. At around 7:50am she was at 91%. Now she's at 81%.

I think she's gonna have to start as new.

My 42mm is working fine.

Mine is the same. Normally I get to the end of the day with around 50% battery left. Full charge this morning currently at 36% I've barely touched the watch today too, as I've been busy at work. Dropping at an alarming rate too, will try the pair and unpair when I get in.

Worked for me.

I'm a little annoyed with Apple on this one. I contacted them via their online chat earlier and explained that there was stuff still on my Apple Watch that hadn't synced to my iPhone, but they made me go ahead and do an unpair and re-pair. I've now lost yesterday and todays work outs (I've manually entered them into Health, but they haven't synced over to Activity), but hopefully this will have sorted out whatever was draining the battery.

Yesterday was 100% to 10% in about 4 hours. I re-paired yesterday afternoon, charged overnight and now off the charger today for 4 hours and at 99% currently. I lost a day and a half of activity data (otherwise perfect month) but it has taught me to un-pair and pair again after each upgrade. Just seems like a good habit to get into. I will time my updates for the time of day too that will give me time to recover activity if its lost.
