I tried my luck today too (US AT&T customer here). Here's to hoping!

And if the restore via iTunes truly does unlock the phone you won't need to have a different SIM. From what I understand, when you get an IMEI unlock iTunes tells you "Congratulations! Your iPhone is now unlocked" or something of the sort.

Can anyone that got this to work verify?

How will that help? I dont think they are going to let you cut up one of their sim cards are they?

pretty sure they will let me buy one.........

anyway, i DID do a restore this morning but never received a "Congratulations your iphone is unlocked etc" message, I figured I needed the non ATT sim to do the unlock, restore or not.

I just gave it a go, got the first email, we'll see if I get it, not expecting too much. US AT&T locked phone. If it doesn't work I'll go the jailbreak and unlock route.

There appears to be a few troll posts in this thread.

As confirmed by a Vodafone UK Help Forum Moderator the conditions for unlocking an iPhone through Vodafone are;

1. The unlock request must come from the person to who the phone was originally supplied with a contract, or the orginal buyer if the phone was purchased as a Vodafone PAYG (receipt required).

2. The IMIE of the handset must have been logged on the Vodafone UK system and been active on Vodafone for at least 28 days.

Well they obviously were not doing their jobs properly as I'm no troll and this 100% worked for me, which is why I posted it on here,

And you don't need another network sim for the unlock to happen, I didn't have one and did a restore, then when I got home I put my wife's O2 sim card in and it worked no problem

did you ever see the 'congrats your iphone is unlocked' message?

Just sent my information to Vodaphone. I've got an AT&T iPhone so I'm not sure if it will work. Not expecting anything actually.

Edit, just got the first email a minute ago.

Very interesting... USA AT&T customer here, just tried it. Going to see how it comes out. Any success, fellow Americans?

I have received the first email nearly 12 hours ago I will post as soon as I get anything else.

I hate to be that guy, but has anyone been able to navigate through the website to this page? I just don't want my name and phone information sent to somebody who copied the website design and whatnot. I have already submited the form as stated above just wondering.

No because to get that you need a 'foreign' sim in at the time, but all that is really needed is to connect to apple's database which happens when you do a restore

I've heard that if you deactivate your phone via sam, and then let iTunes reactivate the phone, you'll get the congrats message (assuming the phone's IMEI is indeed in the unlock database)

How do you deactivate your phone via sam?

It's a valid point - I certainly can't find it when searching or navigating the site. It's also the first hit on google, not sure what that means. General vodafone policy is not to unlock phones until after the contract has ended, and even then there used to be a £25 fee when I've enquired previously..

Unless vodafone.co.uk is not Vodafone's real site, there's nothing to worry about.

So what did you type in the "Model" section?

And has anyone with an AT&T iPhone been able to confirm that this works? It looks like anyone who's gotten the success email doesn't have a T-Mobile micro-SIM to try the unlock with.

The link provided doesn't work for me.

I'm on Telus in Canada but I don't think it should matter where I live to visit the site.

Maybe their server is overloaded with requests?

EDIT: Just got in after multiple tries.

Stupid question probably...

Any benefit to doing this on a Verizon iPhone and can you even do it?

Im guessing no benefit because we dont even have sims...
