Bought a Droid - Warning!

I bought a droid yesterday and I love it. However, the back battery cover would not stay on very tightly. Not sure if this happens to all or just mine. So needless to say I lost it. It must have fallen off while taking it out of my pocket because doing applies pressing in the direction of taking the back cover off. Less than 6 hours with a new phone and it's missing pieces....

I still recommend it though.

Droids are nice but IMO definitely not an iPhone killer.

Verizons closest thing to the iPhone, yes, but a killer no.

Thats sad you lost your backplate. Your best bet is checking online cause if you try and buy a replacement at the store itll probably cost you $35 :/

Glad you enjoy your new purchase though.

If it just fell off while coming in and out of your pocket, you should go back to your service provider's store and complain... they should provide you with a replacement cover. That's ridiculous. (Actually, replaceable batteries are ridiculous to me, but that's a side issue).

I'm just talking in terms of stock prices here. Motorola is overhyped and it will Hurt the stock because ther are not any lines at verizon stores. There stock was already down 4.5% on Friday. If they don't sell well over 1 million phones before the new year they will have failed in wall street's eyes.

Yeah...I'd go back and get a new cover. Not much they can say when it fell off on the first day.

I think the Droid looks nice for verizon users, but I'd still go with the iPhone if I had the choice. If I had to have verizon, the droid isn't something to spit at..

Are you talking all batteries? It seems to me that a non-replaceable car battery would be a really bad idea. lol

I seem to run through enough charging cycles in a year that my phone battery usually starts to become weak. I kind of like a replaceable battery in my phone.

I don't know about you, but I rarely hear 'WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY DROPPED CALLS?!' and 'HOW CAN I NOT PULL DOWN DATA WHEN I HAVE FIVE BARS ON 3G?!' from Verizon customers.

AT&T is awful, and if it weren't for the iPhone I'd be back on Verizon right now.

+1

And I am back on Verizon now, happily enjoying my Storm 2 (which really is a great device unlike the Storm 1).

No dropped calls. Data everywhere. Works with my corporate email.

By the time the battery in anything becomes super weak, it's usually time to replace the product.

(Especially if it's a GM.) ;)

I had a hard time getting the battery door to stay on with my magic mouse. it bent a bit because of the tape that held it to the packaging. so even apple can have problems.

They are getting me a new cover so it's all good.

You recommend a phone that falls apart hours after purchase? Nice...

The phone didn't fall apart. The cover came off. Not really a big deal. And yes I still recommend it because it's probably the best phone verizon offers. I do agree the iphone is better and the droid is in no way an iphone killer, but I don't want to switch to at&t.

I also picked up a droid, mine is working great. I havent had any issue with the battery cover falling off.

The only issue i really have had with it is i cant sync it on my macbook pro. isync says that it isnt supported for sync.

Overall though it is a great experience, not quite as "seamless" as an iphone is but overall a very solid product.

I just wanted to hop in here and share my 2c.

I got myself a Droid on friday and I love it. Do I think it is as good as the iPhone? No! In general Apple does an amazing job with their products (hence why I love my Mac) and they manage to make a very user friendly product that offers a great experience.

The thing about the Droid is, most of the things it is lacking in can be fixed by simple software updates. Things that need to be improved on are the media player interface, camera software stability/picture quality, being able to put apps on the SD card, choppy animations in some spots, lack of more than 3 home screens by default and other random little bugs.

The other thing that Google needs to take a lesson from Apple on is the App Store. There is a good selection of apps on the Android Market, however many of them don't work, only work on a few phones or havent been updated yet for Android 2.0.

I also believe that Apple can take a few lessons from Google on how open the Android platform is and the avaibility of 3rd party applications.

Would I still recommend this device? yes. Even with the issues ive had it works great and provides a good experience. It's just not as "seamless" as the iPhone.

In the end though, all that really matters is competition. If the Droid becomes a big success, that will make Apple work that much harder on the next iPhone which means we, the consumers will benefit the most.

At& T does not suck. My service is better with At&T than it was with Verizon. I wish people would just say the service didn't work for them and not just plain out say, blah blah sucks.

After owning all 3 iPhones and now the Droid, I can honestly say I do prefer the Droid. On-screen keyboard is a little better on the iPhone, but only because of the lack of multi-touch. I just feel like I have a lot more control over my phone now.
