I stand corrected! Sorry guys!

My mind must have filled in the blank that it was a software issue (even though the story says it could be a HW or SW issue). I probably did that because it's not like the Proximity sensor is a new thing and just logically deduced that it would be a software glitch and not a HW thing.

So I'm pulling for a SW glitch and fix. :D Again... sorry... a mistake of the brain.

It happens to all of us. No worries. For a brief moment there, I thought I might actually keep my iPhone 4 if you were able to provide a link to an official acknowledgement from Apple.

Vista would have saved you from looking silly by asking to confirm you wanted to post that 4 times :) There was nothing not wrong with Vista...

Really - tell me HOW? Specifically. Step by step.

I hate this kind of complete false statement that are utter nonsense.

"you're going to be able to use a Windows Phone 7 and not have to worry about how you're holding it to make a phone call"

Really? Can you hold it upside down? Between your ass cheeks?

You have to hold a phone to your ear, and keep your fingers off the mic. On the ip4, you also have to keep them off the sour spot. No big deal, once you know where it is, and it is so worth it

This is minor issue as most, which has a quick fix that was taken care of quickly

taken care of?

which one of the issues iwth the iphone4 have apple taken care of?

i mean besides telling people to hold it differnetly.. which doesnt help the proximity sensor work

Don't be a retar*d Dude !

The problem is that it is the only normal way to hold the phone.

Don't your knees get chaffed after a while ?

I gotta wonder about people like you

Fair enough.

As far as I remember correctly, Apple did the same thing to Microsoft for the last few years. I guess it was fine because it was Apple. Now that it's Apple getting bad press from Microsoft, well it's different...

Bitter fanboys the competition is taking Apple to task for their blunders.

Aaaaaalways a one-way street when it comes to Apple. Taking cheap shots at the competition, but never the other way around. You people literally sicken me.

The Edsel wished it had sold the estimated 10 million in a lifetime let alone several months, upon it's release.

You know what, no matter how low class MS's products are (I'm sick and tired of Windows 7 I'll have to reformat my desktop again...) or how arrogant they may seem or how their retarded marketing department has failed so miserably, I kinda find that funny, because I remember watching one of the Apple keynotes where Jobs made fun of Vista and what a failure it was.

Sure he was right, but look at iPhone 4, MS is rightfully making fun of Apple now, but they should have at least waited to see if their Windows 7 mobile will not have any problems, especially when you're Microsoft.

This is the reason I got a new :apple: MacBook Pro i7 2010 because MICROSOFT VISTA, thank you Kevin Turner.

P.S I want my f@#%*& money back man.!

Haha. 261 comments and nobody has pointed out the ad was co-sponsored by Verizon. I bet AT&t is jumping for joy right now. If nothing else, it's safe to assume, that verizon will NOT be selling iPhones, perhaps in our lifetime.

Verizon is working on Apple's power position to make a better bargain for when the iPhone 5 is available. Verizon would still jump at the chance to sell the iphone.

Of course Verizon would do cartwheels to sell apples products. Apple won't have them and verizon just put a nail in their own coffin, IMHO.

For something that is supposedly doing so bad, why does iPhone 4 still have a 3 week lead time from Apple and I can't get a frickin phone call in to AT&T to complete my order from a week ago?

Its funny how Microsoft people make fun of themself.

And yes, calling "... that is their Vista" on anything, is really really rude.

sounds like your video card had crap drivers which the vendors provide which crippled Vista early on despite being informed by microsoft. apple has a bad hardware design and has insulted the consumers intelligence with their arrogance. Whether or not your handset is affected, their shouldn't be the potential issues other than manufacturing issues with their hardware. the phone is flawed from a design standpoint.

ok. I'll bite.

I have a Dell XPS 3 GHz Dual Core computer with 2X GeForce 8800 GT vid card. 4GB DDR2 Ram. Ran Windows XP just fine. Upgraded to Vista... Dog slow. Aero didn't ever work (even with the graphical horsepower) and networking was flaky. It's funny... as soon as win 7 came out, the computer was upgraded and things were running better, but still not as good as on Win XP.

I have downgraded to win XP and that is what I run now.

The unfortunate thing is that I have to run a windows machine for work, so I am stuck. I do, however, run a Mac for personal use now.

plus i would venture that the majority of the folks "reporting" issues just repeated all the other hyperbole and hype they heard and probably thought the "i'm a mac" ad's were clever.

"It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that," said Kevin Turner

This guys's not even anywhere in the realm of reality. I have an iPhone4, and I had PCs with Microsoft Vista.

Kevin Turner is smoking crack if he thinks Windows Vista at its very best could hold a candle to the iPhone4 on its very worst day.

I have no regrets about leaving my PC days behind two years ago, and I have no regrets about my purchase of an iPhone4. I dont' miss that BSOD at all!

I have a closet full of regrets disguised as PCs with Windows XP and Vista on them.

interestingly enough, with all the iPhones I've used, I could not replicate the issue no matter what i did. hmmm

Oh please not this again... I've been able to replicate the issue with every iphone 4 i've used... What exactly are you claiming? That the issue doesn't exist? That it doesn't happen to everyone? Well, I can assure you that the issue does exist and that it does happen to everyone. Of course, there are multiple variables. You can't just touch the phone on the lower left side and say "I don't have the problem". The moisture in your hand carries a huge effect, your location is also an important factor. Without a doubt, when you touch the lower left side of your phone the phone drops decibels, it may not be enough for a bar to go down, but the issue is there. You may say "ok it doesn't even drop one bar, not a problem". Yes, but when you try to use your phone after exercising (with a sweaty hand) or go somewhere else where the signal is less then stellar as is, you'll see the problem crystal clear...

If the two situations really are similar, how come Vista was being discounted within weeks of release, and I'm still waiting for my iPhone 4 - because the waiting list is so long?

No, Mr Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner, Vista is an a queue of Microsoft products and services vying for the title of 'biggest failure'.

What did it take to fix Vista? An entirely new OS. What did it take to fix Playsforsure? Cancellation. What did it take to fix Project pink/Kin? Oh, nothing could fix that one either. What did it take to fix XBox reliability? A recall and millions of Dollars.

Apple will fix this issue with iPhone 4, and those affected will be happy. It may take a recall, but it will get fixed. And that's the real difference between these two companies. Apple's biggest problems are minute compared with Microsoft's.

Microsoft keeps making promises about products that either don't exist, won't exist, or aren't out yet.

Never mind that MS doesn't make the hardware. To make any promises about hardware is dumb.

Well, I think they made a gadget called the 'zune' that was their answer to the iPod. Oh, but wait....... nobody ever bought one did they?

I call BS on that or a major case of PEBKAC. I've installed vista on several different configurations all much weaker than what u claim with no problems and aero ran just fine. I've even run aero on integrated graphics.

Next time u should let someone who knows what theyre doing install an operating system, since mac users arent used to dealing with such complicated issues.

Got my iPhone 4 yesterday, I can hold it however I want, no signal drop. I've tried my best. This story is just a story because they admit Vista sucked.
