OK, this rabid fanboy will speak up. HEY APPLE, YOU SCREWED UP THE ANTENNA RECEPTION ON THE iPHONE 4th GEN!!!

Now, can I have one of these horrible iPhone 4's? Because, you know, they're STILL more freaking awesome than anything else out there on the market. :p

See, again the brainwashing...

It's not the antennae reception, it is a massive design flaw. The phone was not tested rigorously enough, it was released to meet a predetermined keynote date.

It's not like the Microsoft executive said something nasty about your mother, he joked about a competitors ******* up! Good on him, Apple mock Microsoft at any given opportunity.

I can't understand why fanboys take it so personally, it really is some kind of cult like pathology.

BTW OS 9 was an unreliable POS.

Yeah, it's funny how people forget that every version of the Mac OS between 8.5 and 10.2 was slow, buggy crap. And let's not forget 10.5's teething problems!

This "Apple can do no wrong" mentality that plagues this forum is pathetic. I will admit that I to had it for a long time, but I am now over it. When I think back to some of the crap I thought and wrote it makes me a little sick.

LMAO. ya it could be like vista, or it could be like ME, or wait maybe like the first 5 revisions of xbox 360, oh, wait, maybe its more like the kin, no wait its more like..... one thing is certain, microsoft knows about fallout from crap products.

Microsoft fixed Vista - its called Windows 7.

Where's Apple's fix for iphone 4? <crickets>

On a sidenote, I just saw another newspiece on TV about an iphone 4 recall, and I hardly watch the news.

So Apple gets like three weeks while Microsoft gets two and a half years to sell us a service pack?

lolwut

Who's taking it personally? Don't worry, I'm not. I have an iMac and it is like a marriage to a beautiful woman: she has flaws, but she's waaay better looking and more fun to be around than the rest of the choices out there. Same with iPhone 4. It isn't perfect, I fully agree that the way Apple handled the antenna issue was wrong, but the phone is still soooo much better than anything else out there that the joke is still on the critics of the day. iPhone is *not* Apple's Vista.

Yes, probably to get their iMac screen looked at, their over-heating macbook pro swapped out, perhaps exchanging their iPhone for one that actually works, or any of the other myriad array of problems that plague Apple products...

You're right; Apple stores *are* pretty busy. :p

You're beef with Apple isn't their products. Face it, they look gorgeous. They are well designed inside and out. The software is phenomenal. IT JUST WORKS AND WORK INCREDIBLY WELL! Name any PC that comes remotely close to what Apple has. You can't. Why? Because you probably build yours. Go by a Dell or something. You wouldn't dare.

Windows OS sux, everything from 95' to 98' to ME to Vista, 7... XP was the only one that was rock solid. You guys are still dependent on XP, and OS from about 10 years ago. That's just silly.

And now all of a sudden Windows puts out these silly commercials about how "They listened". They had to listen because the PC community was pissed off with that pathetic attempt called Vista and now windows 7. All these years the huge success of Mac has left PC owners wondering, "Why can't my PC do that?" "Why do I have so many viruses?" Nonetheless, they never listened...

There is a reason why Windows is having this huge marketing push. Apple lit a fire under their a**!

The iPhone may be experiencing an issue, but damn, it's amazing what they developed and designed. It's incredible. Nothing comes close to it.

PC's and windows don't have the BALLS or talent to do anything new. They're getting their butts kicked not just by Apple, even google is smacking them around. And what was their answer? 'BING'.... Bing??? Huh? All they could come up with is BING????

The only thing Microsoft is good for is the XBOX. Wait, I keep forgetting about the red ring of death, Way to go Microsoft...

But does the iPhone crash constantly? Is it really really slow? Does it take 10 minutes to shut down? Does it refuse to install apps that were made before it's time? Does it go: "Are you sure you wish to open the following program: "Apple Safari"?"

No?

Oh. Well then it isn't a Vista is it :p

Apple really need to pull their head out of their ass and release an update for this. I understand that they are indeed working on a fix, but they should release it standalone, not with a bunch of other fixes unless they are required to help with this issue.

I do not believe this will ruin Apple's reputation as this will be fixed in a matter of weeks unlike Vista which took 3 years to fix.

The new models don't have the RRoD issue as much. The Xbox 360 is actually very good. I got one a couple of weeks ago and love it :)

At least there is an easy work around with the iPhone issue. The work around for Vista was to throw it in the garbage and buy a Mac.

This couldn't be more backwards!

If you have an issue with Vista, you have many options, including installing a different OS.

Solution for issue with iPhone 4: Fatal hardware design flaw, replace iPhone with any other phone on the market.

Say what you want about MS, but even Ballmer wouldn't say something as arrogant and stupid as "just hold your phone differently". I'll hold my phone however I damn well please. Someone needs to tell Mr. Ives and Mr. Jobs that there are certain things in this world that plastic is the best choice for - like phone housings.

Same here. No vista. No problems :D

Seriously, Vista was an issue because it was a resource hog and had annoying features like "Did you initiate this action" or whatnot. Windows 7 is soooo much better. But I still prefer Mac OS X any day.

LOL u prolly dont know that u can turn off UAC

iPhone 4 actually has two significant issues. One is reception and the other is the proximity sensor. Apple has been quite vocal on how to somewhat get around the reception issue (buy a case/bumper), but they have been strangely silent on the issue with the proximity sensor.

Why do people keep saying this (the proximity sensor)?

I honestly think that's a defect that you should just exchange the phone if you have it. I know not all phones have that cause mine does not, my roommate's does not, and my mom's does not. My mom would have told me if hers has it, my roommate probably would do the sensible thing and exchange the phone if it had that problem, and I'd exchange the phone if it had that problem.

I agree the proximity sensor thing would be helluva annoying and I wouldn't stand for it (if it was something all iphone 4s had though it would have me on the fence if I go back to my 3G or get a 3GS as I don't make many calls but it would make it pretty useless as a phone).

I really don't understand why you can't just exchange the phone if you are having proximity sensor problems. I know for a fact that not all iphone 4s have this!

I'm guessing you never actually used 8.5. Nothing slow or buggy about it.... pair it with Powermac G3 and you had one screaming machine!

Doesn't anyone find it funny that microsoft itself declares that Vista is the new benchmark for all things that go horriably wrong?

LOL

ROFL.

I had to quote you on my facebook, sorry, that was just a great quote.

What?! I loved OS 9 in general (fact I was a bit resistant to OSX to tell the truth but it was me not wanting to change. And honestly, I am still not a fan of the first OSX but I never gave it a fair chance. Once when I was being stubbern to change, and once years and years later after using Tiger where they had much more improved OS's to compare it to).

8.5 wasn't too bad (in fact it was a fix for imo Mac's worst OS, 8.0.... or maybe I'm getting that backwards, maybe it was 8.6 that was a fix for 8.5. Bother... I can't remember. I just remember one of the OS 8's, and I do think it was 8.0, was slow and horribley done and just ran like crap. It really felt like a beta that wasn't really ready to be released yet. And then they updated it (I think 8.5) and pretty much it ran a lot more efficiently and well on my computer (the update felt like what they should have waited for to release). 8.0 I would say would be Mac's closest equivelant to Vista. It really sucked (and really that's the only Mac OS I would outright say sucks, I'll admit I'm a bit of a macintosh fan).

And I didn't have a newish Mac at the time but it ran just as fluidly and fast as the OS before the crappy one, in fact maybe better. Despite being a newer OS that did more running on an older Mac. I think 8.6 I didn't really notice much difference. 9.0 and later renditions though had some really neat new features I loved using.

Agreed

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 1.6; en-us; Archos5 Build/Donut) AppleWebKit/528.5+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.2 Mobile Safari/525.20.1)

Vista was Microsoft's Windows ME. :D

For the win :D

Yeah, I hate to break it to you, but other than slapping on a few bandaids here and there, they released the same os with a new name. Most of the problems remain, including the horrid user interface.

You are right, it does have a horrid user interface. For one thing, some programs use different overall "themes", including some of the most popular ones. Some even have different scroll bars than the rest of the OS. It is also sometimes difficult to tell what programs are running. To make things worse, clicking the close box on a programs window will only cause some programs to quit! The worst part is the file management system, which is a crippled version of it's early 90's predecessor...

...Wait a minute, which OS were we talking about?

Really?

Who the heck buys a Windows Phone? I just love it when Microsoft decides to promote the Windows Mobile OS and gets pwned in the face.

All you have to do to fix the iPhone's problems is to get a case. Really, who doesn't have a cased iPhone???

This article is a joke. (Not insulting MacRumors or the writers, I meant that what the guy said is a joke).

He might do, but then "it'll leave your computer unsecure, and Microsoft highly recommends not to do that".

Which is absolutely correct. A lot of problems people have with their PCs is they give themselves admin privileges and unwittingly install crapware or certain programs would do things without telling the user what they were doing.

UAC warns people about stuff that's going on. if u dont like it, or dont need MS to hold ur hand, just turn the damn thing off. Of all the nits to pick about vista, thats the stupidest one.

Yes, but XP is outdated. All of the new stuff is made for Win7 and Vista.
To fix the iPhone you add a case.

And really, you're comparing hardware to software. Everyone is. This Microsoft executive is a bozo. I hope Microsoft buys Facebook so Micrsoft goes away and then they screw Facebook up and kill it :D

I don't have problems with Vista nor Apple's new cellphone.
Perhaps I'm just undemanding.

Their worst ad is still this internet explorer thingy, where actors shout at me and a weird eye-jabbing yellow tries to drive me mad (rather successful).

Life without walls = computer with viruses :p
