Belligerent ignorance.

Vista is software

iPhone 4 is hardware

Continue to ruin your image MS and Apple stock owners will continue to dance in money.

Think.

Microsoft fixed Vista - its called Windows 7.

Where's Apple's fix for iphone 4? <crickets>

On a sidenote, I just saw another newspiece on TV about an iphone 4 recall, and I hardly watch the news.

HOW long did it take for Microsoft to "fix" Windows Vista? First of all, I still think Win7 is worse than Vista but other may disagree.

But the fact is that Windows 7 was released WAY after Vista.
The iPhone 4 just came out.

Next thing ya know, you'll be comparing hardware and software problems. Oh wait....

I'm guessing you never actually used 8.5. Nothing slow or buggy about it.... pair it with Powermac G3 and you had one screaming machine!

Actually, I've used just about every version of the Mac OS from 7.1 to 10.6 with at least some regularity. I liked 8.1, but I found 8.5 to be glitchy and slow by comparison. For what it is worth, 8.5 was much better than the "crash of the minute" 7.5, but it definitely was not better than 7.6.1 or 8.1 as far as stability was concerned.

In all fairness, I Don't have any experience with 10.0, but I'm guessing it is as slow and buggy as 10.1.

Got to love the irrelevant and obnoxious fanboyism in this thread. Windows 7 is the best OS on the market.

Anyway, the iPhone 4 has a glaring issue that needs to be fixed, or more accurately, should never have shipped.

I'm getting an iPhone 4. But not until they fix this nonsense.

It's agreed that the problem with iphone 4 is a hardware defect, right? So i guess to fix iphone 4's problem u have to wait till iphone 5 ;)

kin

the only reception problem it had was the marketplace and MS not wanting to sell it. saved on a recall i guess. lol

ROFL.

I had to quote you on my facebook, sorry, that was just a great quote.

What?! I loved OS 9 in general (fact I was a bit resistant to OSX to tell the truth but it was me not wanting to change. And honestly, I am still not a fan of the first OSX but I never gave it a fair chance. Once when I was being stubbern to change, and once years and years later after using Tiger where they had much more improved OS's to compare it to).

8.5 wasn't too bad (in fact it was a fix for imo Mac's worst OS, 8.0.... or maybe I'm getting that backwards, maybe it was 8.6 that was a fix for 8.5. Bother... I can't remember. I just remember one of the OS 8's, and I do think it was 8.0, was slow and horribley done and just ran like crap. It really felt like a beta that wasn't really ready to be released yet. And then they updated it (I think 8.5) and pretty much it ran a lot more efficiently and well on my computer (the update felt like what they should have waited for to release). 8.0 I would say would be Mac's closest equivelant to Vista. It really sucked (and really that's the only Mac OS I would outright say sucks, I'll admit I'm a bit of a macintosh fan).

And I didn't have a newish Mac at the time but it ran just as fluidly and fast as the OS before the crappy one, in fact maybe better. Despite being a newer OS that did more running on an older Mac. I think 8.6 I didn't really notice much difference. 9.0 and later renditions though had some really neat new features I loved using.

The fix that you are likely referring to is 8.1. I agree, 8.0 was a dog. 9.0.4 was crap, and "9" didn't really get decent until 9.2.2, but by then 10 was king. Also, you couldn't run 9.2.2 on anything pre-G3. What was up with that? Talk about adding insult to injury. The poor bastards with 9600's got screwed, Much like late G5 owners and 10.6, only worse.

I try to stay out of the MS bashing so I don't appear to be that much of an Apple fanboy, but this comment is purely idiotic. He must be joking.

To say that one issue (albeit an important one), is even close to the horrendous pile of absolute crap Vista is just plain wrong.

Moron.

Is Ballmer so dense that he doesn't realize he just admitted to Vista's crappy-ness?

Nowhere in the article does Ballmer's name even come up.

Maybe you should know who your talking about before you start calling people dense, otherwise people might think that you are dense. I'm just sayin'.

Your right - one teensy tiny little issue - the iPhone doesn't work properly as a phone. no big deal.

lol. ah...COO, not CEO.

STILL....at least there's admission of Vista as a failure.

Everyone hated Vista and even paid to downgrade back to XP, businesses and regular consumers alike. On the other hand, Apple sold over 1.5 million units the first day. And almost no one is downgrading to a 3GS. Microsoft never fixed Vista. Apple doesn't have to fix the iPhone 4 because there is no issue with the hardware itself but AT&T's poor network service.

This has gotten so out of hand. I haven't dropped one damn call on my iPhone 4 and love it about 10X as much as my old iPhone 3G. I have NEVER owned a gadget let alone a phone that works this well. It is unbelievable how ridiculous this has gotten. It really is sad that everyone isn't having the same experience I'm having, which has been flawless. I'm not lying either so don't give me that crap, even though just because I said that, people are going to call me a liar.

I do hope Apple does something soon though, as I am getting tired of defending this phone, and having no one believe me.

Amen to that. I love showing the iPhone 4 off. What gets lost in this whole anti - Apple smear campaign is the fact that the iPhone 4 has significantly raised the bar on all its potential competitors.

Everyone I know seems obliged to chime in on the 15 second "news" stories about the reception issue. This is too nice a device to have to be on the defensive over.

Hurry up and solve the issue, SJ, so we can focus on making fun of Microsoft's next big debacle.

Amazing

If this guy actually thinks this is similar to what the Vista problems were like then they are in some serious denial.

That is AMAZING. Microsoft thinks that they have one up on Apple, when in reality, Microsoft has dropped the ball thousands of times.

Apple>Microsoft>Nothing

Which is absolutely correct. A lot of problems people have with their PCs is they give themselves admin privileges and unwittingly install crapware or certain programs would do things without telling the user what they were doing.

UAC warns people about stuff that's going on. if u dont like it, or dont need MS to hold ur hand, just turn the damn thing off. Of all the nits to pick about vista, thats the stupidest one.

Indeed. However, most people find them annoying and lots of people have no idea they can turn it off. Therefore a lot of people just click every "Yes" they see, which is of course a stupid thing to do.

LOL, but I thought the little alligator takes a bite at the big one?

HAHAHAAHAHAHAHA.

That was totally on me.

You're correct. That's why I stick to being a Chemistry Major instead of Math. Buuuut, you could take it either way. They could be less than nothing, and/or greater than nothing. either way, we are dissing the incompetence of MS.
