Funny how people badmouth Microsoft for these Ads where they compare products.

If I remember right Apple started that with the Hey I'm a Mac add's

Sooooo Apple is just as embarrising.

Anyway.... I have both. For fun my iPad is WAAAYYYYY better. For work my Surface is a 10000x times better. And I say that as a Apple fanboy. But Surface is brilliant for work.

But then again... Should I sell one, I'd keep the iPad. Mostly because I like having all products in a line and my iMac's, Macbooks, iPad's, iPhones and Apple TV just works together like a charm.

But hope for some new inventions soon.... It starts getting "the same old" and never something new...

----------

Well a surface RT at 32 GB only comes with 15Gb of actual space, whereas a 32Gb iPad comes leaves about 29Gb or so..... Now tell me which is better?

Thats almost true... I have 19 GB's left on my surface eventhough I have a lot installed. But you're right that Windows RT takes a lot of space.

Maybe yours are broken or you're just holding it wrong ;-)

Surprise surprise, Apple fans call Microsoft ad 'desperate' and 'embarrassing'. Saying that comparison ads are stupid.

...Despite Apple using comparison ads as one of their flagships to advertising their products like the Mac.

...Next year ill go to Europe (brothers wedding, so lots of RAW photos i need to transfer and convert), I don't want to lug my MBP and hard drive, so again you start looking at an iPad. 64Gb, well, thats $800, so im open to finding alternatives. Windows RT 64GB is $500. $300 in my pocket and my dilemma fixed? Yes please. The iPad may be nicer, but we can't always be spending huge amounts on tech, it is consumption and i do think Apple does take the p***s sometimes.

As someone who shoots RAW photos I'd never go for a tablet of any kind.
Other options you could consider, now that you don't want to bring your MBP.
(1) Buy some more memory cards for your DSLR. (Convert when you get back).
(2) Buy a MacBook Air.
(3) Bring your MBP and save hundreds og dollars.

MS will soon have to follow Blackberry and start putting popular bits of their product lineup on other platforms. This Surface junk is just throwing money down the drain.

Put a good MS Office solution on the App Store, watch the money flood in. Plough on with Surface - lose money.

WHOA hold the phone!

GAIS... GAIS... IT COMES WITH OFFICE!!!

zomg iPad killer right there, omgomgomg everyone time to take your money out of that Apple stock! Apple's end is here!

Also, video conferencing while working on a document in Office? EVERYONE needs this! this is vital! Because who needs to put their undivided attention on their work? That's just dumb. I mean welcome to the future, hellloooo.

It's my girlfriend needs my attention 100%, duh.. Can't you tell by the faces she makes how much she loves me?

Getting this Surface RT was the best thing that could have happened to me. iPad owners are so dumb, they don't know what they're missing.

iPad sure does look pathetic here. I cannot believe the iPad still does not have an integrated kickstand or full-size USB port! No wonder the Surface RT is beating it in the marketplace. Apple is doomed!

Fanboy aside... thats pretty impressive. If Apple did that, you'd be lined up around the corner. The only turnout is the name Microsoft.

Its very different. Apple did that in the past, when it was a small and struggling company. And stopped doing it when it became a leader. The fact that Microsoft is doing it now just show they are in the position Apple was before, and Its sad. Besides, Apple ads were really funny. M's are just awful.

What a silly and ridiculous ad. Furthermore in my opinion 16:9 tablet display suck because it's like they are forcing you to be used always in landscape.

Actually to be honest I liked it how in a way they did do a relatively far comparison, showing that the Surface is indeed heavier than the iPad. Either way the Surface for the price actually seems rather reasonable and enticing.

The 32GB vs 16GB is deceptive (14Gb vs 16GB usable space), and the touch cover isn't included.

It is enticing tho..esp the multiple apps are pretty good.

While they're comparing dimensions, they should show how nice the Surface RT is to use in portrait compared to the iPad ;)

Yep and MS had to get this ad out before the new iPad 5 comes. Smart move on MS part, but horrible and misleading ad. It's funny what apples competition is doing these days just to stay alive. Even Samsung just hot caught cheating on there benchmark tests.

Don't know why they would go to all the trouble with the comparison and not compare the price with the same 32gb version, to make the iPad look even worse! One of the downsides of Apple is definitely the price increases for doubling memory, all about profit rather than component cost.

The Surface RT only comes in 32GB and 64 GB versions and by showing the 16GB iPad you now have MS saying "Look we give you DOUBLE the space for cheaper the price!". Unfortunately with the 32GB model you actually do only get the same amount of space that the 16GB iPad offers after the OS is installed. That flash drive is a must for these Surface tablets.

The microsoft ad style is outdated. Looks like Apple in 2007. White background, children music school style with clapping hands to look simple. It's really old and really tired.

Rt

Well I luv my iPad, but have always wanted a tablet with some native printing support, which would be the holy grail for most of us business types. Enter the RT, with printer driver support. I went right down to buy one. Ah..it Does have printer support, just not all of them---ergo--not mine. Back to the store back to my iPad. The issues of lap use VS kickstand for business is a no brainer. The Rt comes with it, the iPad you have to purchase. I liked the speed of the RT, but it got warm. I liked a full Browser..ALL the sites were great.

NO APPS ----At least not the ones I like

Apple get the printing sorted out without buying a special printer or using a third party App...Then I'd never buy another of your laptops

Just putting this out there - I have not watched the ad. However, if your company is marking down the product in your ad because of poor sales, last thing I would do, would be spending money on comparing your item against a competitor that has been selling at a profit since it was released (no mark down).

It's in poor taste and they should be focusing on getting themselves out of a hole before it gets any deeper. Not kicking around sand.

3. Made a tablet that works for business.

You don't mean the Surface RT, do you?

Because that one does include Office - but only in a Home&Student edition, so businesses aren't allowed to use it commercially.

I got the info from here
SurfaceRT
http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/surface-with-windows-rt/specifications

iPad
http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

1. Try to use a wide screen tablet in portrait mode? Not a good experience.

2. iPad - 2048-by-1536, that is 3.145728 million pixels
Surface RT - 1366x768 - that is 1.049088 million pixels
The iPad has 2.99x the number of pixels compared to the Surface RT

3. Apple says it's iPad is 264ppi
MS does not say what ppi it's Surface RT is.

4. Apple says it's Battery is Built-in 42.5-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and Up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi‑Fi, watching video, or listening to music
MS just says 31.5 W-h. The majority of people looking at that don't even know what a Watthour is. And even if they did, how many real world hours of use is that? MS does not say.

5. Size of the OS, knowing this lets you know how much real space you have to use.
Apple does not say but itunes tell me in my iPad it's taking up 1.57GB. That's the space allowed for the OS and similar things. (The other category). That is not much really.
MS says "System software uses significant storage space."
So neither side tell you this. But if MS admits it's a lot and that it's a potential concern on a 32GB tablet, then that's a worry.

I can go no and on. But you get the point. MS are just pointing out the one thing the Surface RT has larger then the iPad. The diagonal. And that's not even a good measure. If MS was smart they would advertise the RT on it's own without bashing Apple so much.

Isn't that surface keyboard like $100?
