Fact: new Macbooks are overpriced and partially outdated.
And so are Surfaces.
Not sure on which grounds could Microsoft think they are superior, though.

Fantastic claims often require fantastic evidence. So, sales numbers for both categories of devices are... ?
Exactly this. If 5 people switched from Mac to Surface in the first 3 generations and they've now had 6 switchers in this generation, it's technically a true statement. It says nothing without hard numbers. Macs are still infinitely superior to PCs and I for one am glad Apple hasn't tried to make a hybrid PC–tablet that does neither thing well.

Well,, u do see more and more people *switch * to Mac....... Isn't that proof enough ?

Apple claims that MBP sales have been significantly higher than any MB introduced to the market ever before.
Microsoft claims that more people are switching to surface than ever before.

The laptop sales must be skyrocketing straight into orbit and back as we speak.

Yeh I'm extremely disappointed to the point of leaving the Apple ecosystem but I'd never buy a Windows machine, been looking at the various Linux OS for development opportunities and the Razer laptops.

I'd be tempted with Linux over Windows
There's nothing substantive in this report. You can't tout an increase in product sales over the competition without including comparative market analysis/details.

Same could be said for Apple's claim.

Microsoft has announced November was its best month ever for consumer Surface sales. In a blog post, the company said more people are switching from Macs to Surface devices than ever before following the "disappointment" of the new MacBook Pro, particularly among professional users.

Shortly after the new MacBook Pro launched, Microsoft launched a promotion offering MacBook Pro and MacBook Air owners up to $650 credit towards a new Surface Book or Surface Pro 4. Microsoft also unveiled the Surface Studio in October, and the all-in-one desktop has been met with positive reviews.

Microsoft's Surface Book starts at $1,499, the same price as Apple's new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a standard row of function keys. Touch Bar-equipped models start at $1,799 for 13-inch models and $2,399 for 15-inch models.

How sad and disappointing - even more so when you consider truly how basic and reasonable the wish lists are for Apple products.

It's all about counting beans anymore.. never mind the user experience or value.
On iMore today I saw this;

Says it all.

Saw this on iMore today and it made me think of you…..

Anyone dissatisfied with battery life should return their MacBooks for refund and wait for the next one. Apple will not reconsider their thinness/battery life calculus until they feel it in their wallet. Thousands of returns will be a good start.

If you don't have any problems with the battery life, fantastic! However, there is no earthly reason to keep rewarding design decisions you don't agree with by suffering with a device that doesn't meet your needs.

Sorry, its happening. Were a small development company with 30 employees and we were buying MacBook's and now were not. Not only is it the new MacBook and lack of innovation but the costs and a dramatic change in how Apple's stores and Business Teams have been changing. Its like night and day!

More people are switching from Macs to Surface than ever before.

So, two people now, instead of one? Microsoft doesn't get it. People that enjoy the Mac OS aren't going to switch to a PC, no matter what gimmicks Microsoft throws at them.

Does microsoft covers on the surface portable family:

  • > 16 Gb RAM
  • 8 MB Cache (if you don't know what this means, you know CACA about performance)
  • 1 year without format and reinstall the OS
  • the lovely crystal clear sound system that i only felt with apple computers
No? Ok, i'm still fine with my MBP late 2016 with the gimmick touchbar (it's gimmick AF) and my 2 dongles.

The biggest insult was removing the SD slot. I will not buy a MBP again without one.

I've never had to reinstall my OS on any of my PCs.

I have two surfaces. I only like my 2 but my pro 4 is awesome..

I see your point, but after a certain degree packing a laptop with high TDP chips is going to turn it into a mITX computer with a screen bolted on. Apple's latest laptops are more than powerful enough for what a laptop needs to do at a 'Pro' level. Apple thinks anything more is best suited to a desktop computer and I agree, I'd like to point out their Mac Pro but, we all know the state of that now almost literal trashcan (it really is living up to it's nickname).
They are only "Pro" if you're a Pro Blogger or Pro Hipster.

It is even worse. Due to current lineup of Mac products our school will switch from iMacs to Surface studio line as well replace all MacBook Pro's with Microsoft products. Not only will all 100+ Apple products be replaced also all students will be adviced to move to Microsoft products since the MBP line has become to expensive. As an Apple fan from the early days I am dissapointed in the current direction Apple is moving. Apple is becoming a consumer brand instead of a professional leader in the tech & design industry.

Didn't we use to say that once you go Mac you never go back?
We did say that. It was never true, but we said it. We said (and continue to say) a lot of things that aren't strictly true.

There have always been specific situations, such as software that wasn't available on the mac or IT departments that didn't want to support the Mac, that might cause a Mac user to switch or to use both. A colleague of mine recently switched because he wanted a laptop with a 17" screen.
