My dreams:
A. A customizable, configurable Mac desktop (i.e. a modern pre-2013 Mac Pro)
B. A non-soldered Mac laptop with powerful GPUs, no need for dongles of any kind, upgradeable drives, and a 17" screen (i.e. a modern 17" MBP like the 2011 I own).
Real-world options today:
A. Hackintosh. That's it.
B. Leave the Mac platform completely and go Razer Blade Pro. That's it. Which kinda negates item A.
The fact that "Windows rot" is even a term should tell us something, and full-time AV programs go hand-in-hand with 'slowdown'.
Little competition? Everybody is running circles around Apple these days... And what’s Cook & Co doing? Nothing! Just counting their profits and pleasing investors instead of giving their customers something to be proud of again.
The Apple of today is past it’s prime. I really wonder how their employees see their own products. I remember a few keynotes back that they were reacting like they had taken sleeping pills.
I think two years and Cook will resign, leaving a company who’s lost it shine after years of working very hard to become a recognizable brand. Cook & Co managed in less than five years to turn a vibrant, nimble company into an overpriced elderly home.
I find it amusing how someone could treat Windows as such as POS OS, when it's powering so many businesses
It’s assumptions from the past people like to refer too. Same those who hail everything Apple does todayI've had my HP Spectre x360 15" for 7 months now running Windows 10 with no BSOD or any other major crash. No viruses or malware detected in that period of time. I use Chrome or Firefox most of the time.
I find it amusing how someone could treat Windows as such as POS OS, when it's powering so many businesses (particularly financial services) responsible for trillions upon trillions.
The OS isn't that complicated, or rubbish - and let's not pretend macOS is some kind of perfect OS either.
Anyone who says "too bad it runs Windows" clearly hasn't used Windows lately.
I have tried the full Windows experience full time (and for a while) after well over a decade of using a Mac exclusively and while I would say that I definitely prefer macOS, I don't think Windows is bad. In fact, we are slowly approaching OS parity where both platforms are very stable, have awesome features and are fast and fluid.
Whatever the preference, I would not bet against Windows at this point. It's moving in the right direction and fast.
Be careful about spreading misinformation. The new Edge browser is not "Internet Explorer with a new name". It is a fully-reborn browser.

Stale in terms of appearance? Is that more important to you over things like reliability, efficiency and productivity? macOS wins hands-down in those areas.
Hardware looks awesome. The irony is that Microsoft —the software giant—has a software problem. They will be in a world of mega hurt if they can't come up with a multi-platform software strategy.
your right...i don't...if i did I'd buy the appropriate device to use with that app .And if you want to use an App like ZBrush? Which of course you won’t...
This also puts to rest the silly fake news that Microsoft is dropping the Surface line.
"Windows rot" isn't a term, its BS sprouted continuously by people who dont know better. I dont believe in luck or coincidence so If I can run a windows 10 box with multiple VMs, media servers, etc simultaneously and not have an issue...so can anyone else. The fact that "Windows rot" is even a term should tell us something, and full-time AV programs go hand-in-hand with 'slowdown'.
I agree with you when looking what they've been done with messages. But the youngsters over here want freedom and total customizable phones. Many of the youngsters over here find the iPhone the perfect solution for elderly people. They want the latest tech and certainly not that big bezel 8 phone.Actually they are turning their back on their traditional fan base and focusing on gimmicks that appeal to the emoji generation . It's turning into an emoji company trying to be super hip and cool run by old men .... Angela like all her other appointments has helped out rising the prices .... profits are up while more and more traditional fans leave.
Problem with aiming at the young.... they switch so quickly ...
Not sure what business Apple wants anymore anyway. Just iOS/devices ?? Their new retail configuration dedicates more space for iPhone cases than computer hardware.Am I the only one that thinks Apple is getting confusing for customers:
- 8 different iPhones
- 5 different MacBooks
When Steve Jobs returned to Apple after being fired, the first thing he did was get rid of all the duplicate products.
I wish he could come back again.
But you still have to run a dogs breakfast of an OS on it.
Twice as powerful, but I don't recall reading anything about a cpu?
Ok...just looked...an 8650U? Yeah, load of BS from MS...that's nowhere close to 2x as powerful. Marketing crap like that pisses me off...
Actually Microsoft long term planning has paid off. You can now have a MacBook Pro and iPad in one with the same software. Each release Microsoft is perfecting it while we need two different expensive devices for apple’s solution. If Apple keeps innovating at the pace they've been done the last five years they surely will be needing those billions rather sooner than later.Hardware looks awesome. The irony is that Microsoft —the software giant—has a software problem. They will be in a world of mega hurt if they can't come up with a compelling multi-platform software strategy.
Hmm Just spent several hours trying to find why a game on my son's Asus doesn't work and it was the graphics driver. Auto update said it was the latest and everything was fine but in fact you need to go to the Geforce site and download it yourself to be sure because update doesn't really work properly.Windows has come a long way. It's a lot better than what people think.
