Twice as powerful, but I don't recall reading anything about a cpu?

Ok...just looked...an 8650U? Yeah, load of BS from MS...that's nowhere close to 2x as powerful. Marketing crap like that pisses me off...

Lets see how it handles real life tasks. I'd love a 1060 in a MacBook Pro.

Hmmm that 15” might just tempt me away from a MacBook Pro if it’s priced similarly...

Eh... 8th generation quad core cpu vs dual core? Plus you forgot (for your convenience) the NVidia 1050/1060? Seems there is not much reason to get pissed off about.
The Apple fans are in force today. Whether you love or hate Microsoft, at least give some credit for making a nice, competitive product. Good competition helps everyone. Computers and OS's are made by imperfect humans, and each OS has its issues.

You run both?

I run all three and anyone who brags about Window stability does nothing more than surf the net, chat with a buddy and play a few well known AAA games. Throw some heavy engineering apps at it, large mesh renderings and more, and count the moments to a blue screen.

On macOS and Linux you're most likely to get a segfault on the app or in Linux case an Xorg lock up. OS X will be humming along.

Nah, macOS drawbacks are few and over time well dressed as “Best not first” as said Tim.
They each have their own set of benefits and drawbacks, honestly can’t say I’ve had more issues with one than the other, they’re both fine OSes.

I was going back and forth between a new Macbook Pro & a Surface Laptop for work in the past few weeks. I would've bought the Surface Book 2 over the Macbook Pro without a doubt. I guess since I spec'd out my Macbook Pro & it's shipping from China I can't return it now though.
Apple gives you 14 days.

Be careful about spreading misinformation. The new Edge browser is not "Internet Explorer with a new name". It is a fully-reborn browser.

Stale in terms of appearance? Is that more important to you over things like reliability, efficiency and productivity? macOS wins hands-down in those areas.

Stale in terms of innovation. Really just the overall desktop environment that both utilize.

I've had more issues with bugs and issues with the latest releases of OS X, then I have with windows.
I hate to admit, but me too. MacOS and iOS. There are bugs in Safari I’ve reported to Apple years ago and still persistent. I had those same problems in chrome. I reported it to google and one month later it was solved.

I’m wondering if Apple has enough coders to keep up with the pressure from all their competitors.

I would for a tenth of that.
You wouldn't even have to pay me to run Windows, I do that for free already. But you'd have to pay me to use macos. Every single person that i know, that was stuck in Apple's walled garden, has been freed. I have convinced everyone in my circle to make the change long ago, and not one of them regret it. As matter a fact, they are doing the same for their circle of friends.
