It would have to be.

I used it daily. It's fine, more or less, but still really stupid in that stupid windows way.

"Can't modify the name because that item is in use" alone is enough to prove windows is crap. 30 years of that same nonsense, can't even tell when an application is running or not.

Eh.. correct me if I am wrong, but I can't modify a file name on a Mac either when it is in use... That has nothing to do with a crappy OS but with file integrity. It would be a crappy OS if it allowed you to mess up the file system.

It's WINDOWS!!! I don't care how fast or glorious it is, whatever version from vista to 10 or whatever heck their latest version is, it's WINDOWS operation which I HATE with a passion. Very very different than Mac OS X that I'm very very much in tuned with and I just am a sucker for Apple products. But that's my preference.
Yea alot of people like inferior products that's how apple is still a profitable company, because of all the consumers like you

I do this all the time on my iWork files. Avoids the proliferation of misnamed/poorly named files and the “save as” mess. Frustrates me I can’t do this in Word but then I hate Word and try to avoid it.

Still using Windows 10 Big Brother edition? No way in HELL I am going to have a Windows 10 machine as a main machine.
I love consumers like you .... Acting like osx is the god of software news flash it's not. Microsoft caught up.. I know it's hard to swallow but acceptance is the first step.

Hey Einstein, when did I mention OSX or macOS?
Microsoft caught up? Caught up to what? Do you even know what I was referring to?
Meh.

MacOS of course is not perfect but every business I've worked for have issues with Windows and the security breaches lately have been getting out of hand. I trust MacOS way more than Windows right now.

Well, at least Windows is capable of running the business.. whereas MacOS isn't.

...Not to mention, one of the most useful things about Win is the snap to half screen...

Literally found this out just a few weeks ago... In MacOS if you click and hold the green maximize circle on a window you can drag it to either half of the screen. Essentially exactly like the snap feature in Windows (only half screen, no quarters). Have fun!

Okay, simmer down people.

Given that Apple stole from Xerox PARC, and Microsoft stole from Apple, and PARC, WHO CARES! I'd still rather use macOS, than Windows 10.

And Microsoft 'caught up'? You must have never used a version of Windows prior to 10. There are scads of menus and utilities that reek of Windows 2000, and later. The 'face' has changed, but a surprising amount of the 'guts' hasn't. But whatever...

*sigh*

Huh? You don't pay attention to their products but you still have an opinion about those products? Illuminating.

How so? I've been in IT since before you were born, I'd wager. I can also read, and when I see that the Surface has an abysmal reliability rating, I don't hold out much hope for their other Surface products. I also don't need to drink *all* American mass produced beers, but am acquainted with enough of them to know that I'd really rather quaff something else, when given the choice...

Windows is a core product for Microsoft: they live and die by it. They devote massive engineering effort to getting it right. Their hybrid tablet and laptop functionality is generations ahead of Apple's Touchbar. Their keyboards are exquisite.

Meanwhile Apple's core product is IOS. OSX is legacy software: there is no longer an OSX specific dev team at Apple:

Many of the new Macbook features are designed to push users towards ipad-alike machines (ultra low travel keys, no legacy ports, no expandability). It's clear Apple's heart is elsewhere.

I write this on a 2016 Macbook pro, so I'm still using their machines. But I'm a specific case (heavy user of the command line). Once Windows develops its Linux subsystem a bit further, I'll consider switching.

Windows has come a long way. It's a lot better than what people think.

I run windows 10 on my gaming machines (well, 10.1). It's still a piece of junk. It has stabilized some, which is a definite improvement, but adjusting different types of system settings still requires you to do it one of three entirely different places, and sometimes searching for the setting you want still doesn't find what you need. The whole thing is a mess, the UI is very inconsistently applied, etc.

If I didn't play games regularly, I wouldn't bother running windows on anything.

Again, to have such a strong opinion you have to inform yourself better. And never assume things like "being in the IT business longer than someone else". You have no way of knowing and it is quite personal/arrogant and has nothing to do with the subject. You simply stated a wrong fact (in a previous post) which I pointed out. No excuse like "I don't pay any attention to their junque....". You know what you are talking about or not and you are factual correct or not. It is as simple as that.

Yeah, technically it has become a solid and fast and stable system. Too bad they now ruin it with integrated Spy- and Adware and take away the control from the user. The unbelievable bandwidth consumption of that OS even when it says it is not downloading updates is another thing that totally kills any chance for a positive experience.

From a pure technical perspective, Windows 10 most certainly mops the floor with macOS or even desktop Linux. But with all the stuff that's in it that nobody asked for and that cannot be turned off or removed or even in a basic way controlled, it just feels... dirty. To the point that you want to take a shower after having used it for a few minutes.

An OS with the label "Professional" in its name that downloads and installs games with ads and in-app-purchases from the Internet WITHOUT asking its user for permission is just not acceptable.

I'm sorry Microsoft, but showing an older MacBook in your hero shot as a comparison smacks of intentional deceptive conduct.

I guess the iPhone 8/X commercials aren't any better. They show the spotlight effect working in motion/video. It only works in photo mode in reality though. Or when they boast about "creating x,y,z", when they purchase this sensor, display, tech, etc. Even their videos of Mac vs PC were extremely misleading back in the day.

I like it but it's a shame that the 13" couldn't get the same GPU as the 15" one. I much prefer a smaller form factor for coding during long commutes and still play a good Heroes of the Storm game when I have the network.

It can be twice as fast but it has twice as much spyware telemetry attached to it. No thank you. Apple lets me opt out.

Am I the only one that thinks Apple is getting confusing for customers:
- 8 different iPhones
- 5 different MacBooks
When Steve Jobs returned to Apple after being fired, the first thing he did was get rid of all the duplicate products.
I wish he could come back again.

I see your point, but one thing to note is that, if I recall correctly, when he came back Apple products weren’t selling well at all and the company was near bankruptcy. Today the products are selling very well to say the least.

So while I agree that a little more focus in the product line might be good, this is a very different situation than back then.

How is this twice as powerful as a Macbook? They claim:
Those aren't indicators of a laptop being more powerful.

The 13" Surface book 2 has a quad core processor with 1050 graphics vs the 13 tbmbp having dual core and integrated graphics.
