Windows10 is a god damn nightmare. I regularly used win7 on my MacBook for years and I had to drop it when win8/win10 happened. The UI is bipolar, they’ve randomly hid “power user” features, updates that are unclear, managing audio recording peripherals is difficult and by default Cortana is extremely intrusive.

I want the OS to suppliment my software experience. OSX stays out of your way once you open up your programs, it lets you easily organize and juggle tasks. Win10 is intrusive, it gets in the way and becomes a hurdle.

Literally found this out just a few weeks ago... In MacOS if you click and hold the green maximize circle on a window you can drag it to either half of the screen. Essentially exactly like the snap feature in Windows (only half screen, no quarters). Have fun!

It's not the same, it takes you into full screen mode :/

I have a SP3. It's pretty neat, but I can't find an actual use for it. The keyboard/touchpad is really horrible, but I've heard that they have made some improvement on that front. My main gripe is that Windows doesn't work in tablet mode. The second you go into settings or something, you're right back to 0.2" buttons that are almost impossible to press.

But hey, at least it's a full touchscreen. They are working to make it a real advantage. Can't say that about MacBooks.

I think even Godzilla could press these buttons so, what's wrong with your hands?

I just don't understand it. So many fanboys choose to hate on Windows and Android, yet use absolutely nothing to back up their foolish statements. The ones that do try to prove a point, use some experience from windows 98 or the original G1 android phone. Then to make matters worse, you check out some of these guys post history, and you see soooo many complaints about MacOS issues or ios11 bugs/glitches/crashes, data corruption. Yet they post how horrible Android/Windows is, and how perfect Apple is. What do they serve in that small walled off garden, for people to come off so ignorant? I honestly thought competition was a good thing for everyone?

So many edgy people here hating on Windows. Is there an "edgy" school I can go to learn that? Or is it automatically embedded into idiots?
Are you just finding out that there are people disliking Windows?

It is. Which is why it would be preferable if Windows were much better than it actually is.

Couldn't I reverse that statement and say, "If Apple were anywhere as good as Microsoft or Android, they would have a much larger market share than a measly 10%." There has got to be a reason they don't sell as much or why so many people prefer the "superior" options.

Windows has come a long way. It's a lot better than what people think.
I must admit Windows10 is not half bad. The only thing killing it for me is the non unixbased core, but that is a personal preference. Sorta like some people like blonds, some like brunettes.

If this thing performs as well as advertised, it could truly be a game changer.

I've never saved so much money in my life ever since Timmy Cook took over Apple. Haven't bought anything from them in over 3 years! Good thing I didn't go the Windows route, I'd have to buy this one too! I'd be so poor!

Trust me it will suck just like all the other surface books. Just buy an iPad Pro and be done with it. And anything that runs windows is a train wreck.

Completely true, except that all the other Surface Books don't suck. Did you know that the Apple production line is running on and controlled by Windows? Must be a real train wreck in your words.

It would have to be.

I used it daily. It's fine, more or less

This is exactly me feeling. Win 10 is fine. I love the window management. But hate all the tiny little things that build up to annoy me. Death by a thousand paper cuts.

Very tempting with that GPU, but the cost is crazy high from what I was expecting. Bet these things don't hold their value well either.

It helps MR fanbois preserve the bubble of brand enthusiasm which is critical to their identity. Its not really hurting anyone. Anyone who uses computers at a high level is somewhat agnostic about apple pc culture wars.
Agnostic about Apple/PC culture wars maybe, but not so much wrt preferring Unix-based systems over Windows.

Actually Microsoft long term planning has paid off. You can now have a MacBook Pro and iPad in one with the same software. Each release Microsoft is perfecting it while we need two different expensive devices for apple’s solution. If Apple keeps innovating at the pace they've been done the last five years they surely will be needing those billions rather sooner than later.

Windows 10 is as stable as Mac OS is today. Same for viruses. Where Apple stalled these last five years everybody else has been delivering and perfecting their products. Kudos to Microsoft.

Great perspective! I appreciate your reply. I guess Microsoft will also need to take a lead role in software development again as they have done with all this gorgeous hardware. They need some killer, must have applications that will draw people over and reinvigorate the small developer interest IMO.
