Apple keeps losing ground.
Now even gesture or voice control for AppleTV will have no whoa-effect.
For two years i thought they are developing something big.
But these days every other company bit Apple comes up with something new.
I am losing faith. Apple's best time seems to have ended with the end of the first decade of this century.

And what is the "true mission" of this site?

I was under the impression that the true mission of this site was to post things that people could bitch and whine about for hours on end. So I didn't find this out of place at all.

What a piece of junk. The thing looks huge, same controller, same look, same separate motion sensor (they couldn't figure out how to integrate them?)... the tech specs are very unimpressive- this thing will be a sloth in 2 years. 8 gigs of RAM? My iMac has 32! 500gb HD? Do they realize how pathetic that will be in 5 years? Oh wait, they'll just refresh and make everyone buy the new one with more memory and some other useless features. Voice commands on a game console-- whoopeefriggindoo! Useless crapware.

Nothing new. Nothing innovative here. If I buy a "next-gen" console, it will be a PS4 because at least it's free to game online.

don't think you can play games or have a rich experience like you do with Xbox One. Apple cannot all of a sudden take a "hobby" and create something to rival the Xbox environment - that is simply pie in the sky thinking. Apple is going to lose the living room, the Xbox One demo was very impressive.

I find it funny that many people can only pick on the aesthetics of the box. I'll take that as an admission that the rest of it is wickedly impressive. And I am a big Apple fan, but Microsoft has done a great job here.

Given a choice between Microsoft and Sony, I will go with Microsoft because it supports domestic job growth. Sony is quickly becoming nobody.

I agree with what you say. Xbox will supposedly do much of what Jobs wanted, have ONE media box with a nice UI, that's it. Except supposedly Apple will have it built into the TV. Get rid of the multiple devices under your TV and the rats nest of cables.

Studios will never give any more to Apple than they gave to MS. I am still skeptical cable companies will let Xbox replace their crappy rent-to-own boxes. It sounds too good to be true and means that MAYBE Apple will be allowed to do the same.

Fall Holiday - Expensive as Heck!

All of Apple's new stuff will finally come out, new game consoles.... Parents, ouch....

The Xbox 360 has only 512MB and it seems fine, its a game console and they are m,ade different than your iMac, or a PC.
This is not for you, but why slam something that is not even out yet?

Oh, and try to play any games for your iMac and compare it to even the Xbox 360? No? Didnt thinkl so.

And Apple is innovative right with the Apple TV right? What does the Apple TV offer that the Xbox 360 oir the Xbox One cant?

That was a boring keynote. (ok everything is better then seeing tim cook presenting a keynote :p)

Where are the games, don't gimme that "games are for E3 blabla" This is a gaming console or is it?

Playstation 4 made it at least very clear, sure there where not a lot of games but they at leats talked a lot about it, spoke about helping out indy developers etc etc.

Xbox One (weird name for a 3rd generation) is focused mostly on taking over the living room by always knowing your there.
Most of the content shown on the Xbox One keynote was all USA exclusive so from a global point of view 2/3 of the keynote was pointless.

So my question remains... what the hell is the Xbox One going to be? Manly a gaming console or manly something else?

I completely disagree. I think this looks great. A ton of people have their systems in a position where integrating the Kinect would make it completely unusable. It HAS to be separate to be functional. Also the specs are great. They dont need 32GB ram to play games and provide entertainment and no one would buy a $3000 Xbox, so get real with your expectations.

IMO the Xbox One (because of the software and content deals) just kicked the crap out of the PS4 as an entertainment system.

About 50/50. Gaming is the main reason most people will buy it but something else is the main reason most people who buy it will chose it over PS4 or gaming PC

Might be time for my next games console, the last one I owned was a Nintendo 64, no joke!

Now I have my new iMac I have a spare 24" LCD with HDMI that I was using on my G5 tower so I'm set!

Did anyone else think about Apple during the Xbox One event?

The new Xbox One can turn on your TV, it seems instantly quick, multitasking (live NFL game and Fantasy football updates), pretty decent interface, etc.

I love my Apple TV, but this new xbox might make me use the ATV a little less.

Now would be the time for Apple to unveil what they have been cooking up in Cali. Which could be sooner than we think because of the increased competition.

Thoughts?

Move to the promised land aka USA;)

Apple TV =$99
Xbox One = Prob $499 and $50 a year for Xbox Live

Think I'll stick with my ATV and Roku 3

Am i the only one that's getting both ps4 and xbox one? I never understood why people just choose one and stuck with it. I guess It's better to have one, so you can go online and trash the other team til you're blue in the face right? What feels better than going online feeling superior so you can pledge allegiance to one multibillion dollar corporation right?

Ps3 had uncharted, ratchet and clank, heavenly sword, god of war and solid hardware.

Xbox 360 has halo, forza, gears of war franchise and xbox live is the best online play if you like to play with friends. Not to mention how much kinect is maturing from a useless gimmick to something that's actually usable.

If you like games, how can you only have one? You miss out on so much and are much less well rounded when it comes to gaming experiences. I just...i don't know. I guess i'm in the minority. I also like all the phone platforms too

Well maybe not everyone can afford both Pricy Consoles

Games are tied to your Xbox Live account and you have to pay a fee for them to usable on other accounts, but this feature is at the developers discretion.

In other words, no used games and MS has shifted the blame to the developers.

The response:

SNE is up 9% because they might spin off their entertainment division, not because the market is reacting to something nobody but gamers pay attention to

And MSFT is still hovering around their 5 year high

Apple screwed up its hobby! So now they lost the race to the living room...

AppleTV will also be something you talk to and cloud based with new UI for cable guide. Just smaller box.

Just a taste of things to come.

:apple:

But apple is too late for this... I love my Mac and idevices and despise windows/PC...
But MS nailed what apple has failed to accomplish with something awesome they have had on the sidelines as a "hobby" (apple tv).
What MS showed us today could have been apple tv if apple didn't screw it up... but they did, so props to MS. Xbox looks awesome! I hope apple at least does a decent job copying it for the next gen apple tv.

Ghosts looked amazing not good especially in the side by side comparison to MW3. Now I am not a PC gamer and I understand how consoles will always be behind that but I am impressed with what I saw today.

I'm not even comparing it to PCs. The game basically looked like an improved engine which was made for this generation. I take it you're pretty much a casual gamer? Nothing wrong with that, but Ghosts looked god awful and that's pretty much the consensus of people that saw the presentation.

I wish coax was dead and we could just stream everything through the internet

I can view my cable through the XBox 360, using a $20 coax to ethernet adapter and an app my cable provider provides.

I hope the skype is live so I can convince my wife to lose the landline.

Given what I pay for services, at $500 bucks this could pay for itself in months.

Frankly, I think this is going to replace everything but my amp.
