I'm not convinced the iPhone X will be such a huge success as previous phones. I mean, what does it offer over the 8? Face Recognition - that's about it. Is that worth another $300?

Does having women all over you every evening cause you are carrying around and iPhone X seem worth an extra $300 per year?

Yes? Ok then, spend the extra $300. Stop being cheap, or pay the price... lol

Is that site some kind of satire?

He seems to be basically saying the web developers who are developing a public site that will be view of thousands of different devices should actually take into account Apples odd design choices on a phone that hardly anybody will own when building the site.

That might work when designing native app layouts for iOS apps intended to only be viewed on iOS devices but not the web.

Absolutely bizarre.

Did you forget the massively superior OLED display with a much higher resolution? The previous phones are dinosaur technology compared to the iPhone X.

Anyone know where I can see some side by side comparisons of the two colours? Really struggling to choose right now.

I'm in the same boat. Dilemma.
[doublepost=1505504271][/doublepost]Aren't they always supply constrained until around the end of the year? This is nothing new.

For me its the amount of trade offs for what amounts to a slightly bigger screen real estate than the 4.7 inch phones (in reality despite the 5.8 inch screen hype it will be less than the plus models as they are wider).

That's not how it works. Screen real estate is a function of the hypotenuse. The 5.8 inch screen is larger.

Some things are just beyond your control man. There’s only so many OLED screens they can procure no matter how much money they have. Remember other manufacturers require OLED screens in mass quantities as well

From claimed sales numbers, the galaxy range of phones is mopping up around 500K units per day, so I reckon Samsung can afford to let Apple have their 10K units per day without much problem....

I have to say, I wasn't crazy about the X at first, but the design is already growing on me...

Dammit Apple.

Nah, it was delayed because of Touch ID.

Not to be trollish or to be provactive, but it wouldn't be a shock to me if the release was ultimately delayed beyond the pre-order date. If it was ready, it would have been released with the 8 and Apple would not have been worried at all about which phone was ordered....hell they still the 6 and 7

I know, I saw that too. But as it is, how many websites are iPhone X users gonna see like that because no one knows about the meta tag they need to add, or to make sure that there is a background color set on <html>?

The default is going to be white bars, and thats a poor user experience.

I tink apple will eventually fix it in an ios11 update. can't see how they would leave it like that

No, that's not about it. It also offers:

Augemented reality
A11 Bionic chip
Tru-Tone display
OLED/HDR display
Wireless charging
Glass backing
Portrait Mode lighting
Upgraded Camera with Dual OIS
Stainless steel
Better battery (Two hours added over iPhone 7)

What something is worth is only valued by what the consumer appreciates. So that's completely variable.

You have compared the X to the 7, he was comparing the X with the 8

No not at all, screen real estate is defined by the diagonal a la TV screen sizes not the hypotenuse. If a screen has a 6-inch diagonal screen it's called a six inch screen regardless of the measurements of the other sides and their mathematical relations.

Yep, if folks want the X, they'll get it. I personally think it is way overpriced for what it has and how little it is really different from the 8. But as an example, the 8 is $29.12 / month and the X is $41.62 / month on Verizon. Most folks who can afford a new smartphone can afford an extra $12.50 / month to have the latest and greatest if they so desire. I'm not crazy about the design myself. I'll either keep my 7 or maybe get an 8.

Here in the UK, you can get an SE for around £22 a month, a 6 for around £28 a month and the 7 for around £36-38 a month, on a mediocre call / data bundle with no upfront costs. This morning the 8 has turned up for anything from £60 to £85 a month, again with ordinary plans and no upfront costs...I can easily see the X touching a £100 a month when it launches on some plans. That is a lot of money....you can get an S8 with no upfront costs for £32 a month....I think these numbers may well deter the casual buyer and even the most ardent Apple fans might squeal a bit too.

I know this guy has a positive track record, but as a general rule I consider anything said by an "analyst" (of any sort) to be complete hooey. If such statements are proven true, that's fine. I'll always be happy to be proven wrong by the truth. Yet I can't help but feel that many "analysts" are working within the inner-circle of business, attempting to steer people's choices in the direction desired by big business. Exaggeration, mis-information, and unfounded nonsense are all on the table.

I mean, doesn't the iPhone sound like a much more attractive product if not everyone can get one? Perhaps it's true, perhaps not. But don't listen to some stranger (like me, or like this analyst) without doing your own thinking first.

So if one has to wait until March-April to get the $1149 iPhone X, it will be yesterdays news in 6 months when the new one comes out?? If my pre order doesn't have shipping in 2017 it will be canceled.

The Galaxy phones are typically announced in Feb /March which will add a new dynamic
