There should be an iPhone X Edition, in actual real solid gold (well, the frame anyway).I really wish there was an iPhone X in Gold, so all the people who lose it for a new color could fight over them while I quietly buy a silver one.

It's a waste of screen space! They could have done something much better about this. This is half-assed.
I dunno, I don't buy this one. Something tells me those who want one will get it.
No, that's not about it. It also offers:
Augemented reality
A11 Bionic chip
Tru-Tone display
OLED/HDR display
Wireless charging
Glass backing
Portrait Mode lighting
Upgraded Camera with Dual OIS
Stainless steel
Better battery (Two hours added over iPhone 7)
What something is worth is only valued by what the consumer appreciates. So that's completely variable.
Yep. Usable screen real estate is slightly better than the current 4.7 inch phones. Disappointing.
Extremely constrained supply and selling out in three minutes would make it a failed launch. There should be no reason I have to wait until June to buy an iPhone X.This is not a fair statement. You can't state that Cook could not secure a successful launch, because the iPhone X has not even launched yet. If that means it takes longer for the iPhone X to launch, I don't want a rushed product to begin with. Not to mention, this is not going to stop the iPhone X from selling any less. This iPhone will sell out in under three minutes or less, and be the most successful iPhone likely ever.
At that point you might as well wait for the 2018 iPhone. You're already half way there.October 27th is gonna be a massive ''slaughter'' for the tens of millions of people around the world trying to get that iPhone X in the same minute
If you order 5 minutes after the pre order starts, you'll get a confirmation email some what later with your shipping times '' April 22th-29th 2018"![]()

Could compare to ip8 which would be $300. Closer on size minus lens.At $799 (8+) vs $999 (X), the price difference is not material. It's simply product segmentation and personal preference. Recent updates have been pretty transparent that the higher cost is related to supply chain bottle necks, e.g., OLED supply/cost.
I'm not convinced the iPhone X will be such a huge success as previous phones. I mean, what does it offer over the 8? Face Recognition - that's about it. Is that worth another $300?
I believe for iPhone X you cannot buy carrier free iPhone , right now you don't have an option for iPhone X on the site but works with iPhone 8
Uh oh, I found a fly in the ointment: I'll be out of the country in January so I need an unlocked phone instead of one attached to my Verizon account. Some googling indicates I can only buy one at a physical Apple Store?
Well at least I'll know on the 3rd if I'll have an X for my trip.
Edit: looks like I can actually buy a SIM-free iPhone through the online Apple Store. Just confirmed by trying with an iP8. Now whether I get one for my trip is in the hands of the FSM!
The Verizon version is unlocked out of the box even when attached to your account.
This is internally inconsistent. Apple sets release dates based on achieving enough inventory for the stated regional releases. If the iPhone X hadn't had development delays they would be shipping this week. But they did. So now they will ship when there are "several million" in inventory. Simple as that.In addition to supply constraints, Kuo said the reason why iPhone X pre-orders won't begin for another six weeks is likely because Apple doesn't want to cannibalize sales of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Hummm...could be. I was wondering about naming too. We have the 8 and the 10 this year. Next year will we have the 8s or the 9? Will there be a 10s or 11? If we have a 9 ( or in 2 years if we have an 8s next year), what will the next one in that cycle be? It can't be a 10 obviously since the 10 is this year's premium one. Will they stop with the touch ID / top and bottom bezel versions after 1 or 2 more cycles and all iPhones will then be of the new form factor? Hummmm.....I am wondering if the X series will be a two year cycle update while the regular series (8,9 etc) will be yearly.

What are you talking about? X display is 5.8'', bigger than the Plus. not "slightly better than the current 4.7 inch phones"…

When I picture Ming-Chi Kuo, I picture a guy who sits at home in shorts and a t-shirt with a computer and a phone collecting bits of information from various sources, adding some of his own thoughts, and then feeding it to all these Apple sites. Seems like a pretty easy job and he's probably making a really good living. Lucky bastard!![]()
I picture him with a really sweet beard and mustache combo.

LOL!
Which seems like the bigger issue when it comes to the divisive attitude toward the X.
Is it the notch or FaceID?
I don't know about iStockNow...I just checked and they report that the iPhone X is now available, lol.

Note to anyone thinking of an iPhone X - Your content will appear smaller than it does on your iPhone 6+ or 7+. The iPhone X screen is dimensionally narrower in width when holding it upright while it is longer due to the removal of bezels. This allows Apple to advertise the screen as 5.8" diagonal, but content size will be restricted by the width of the display. It's also not a true 5.8", since video playback size will need to be reduced in order to avoid cropping or having the dreaded "notch" interfere with your playback.
Overall I'd say the iPhone X is sexy, but in some ways it's a step backward. I would be standing in line if the iPhone X had the same screen width as the iPhone 7+, plus the added vertical screen real estate, but sadly that is not what we got. We basically got something slightly larger than a non-plus iPhone with a taller screen that is not fully usable.
In many ways, the X seems like a step back.
Have you seen this at all?
