MMS Beta 2 Thread! AT&T only!!!

One question is missing from this thread that should be a part of the five.

Are you using Edge, 3G or WiFi?

Mine does not work on wifi/edge...no 36
Have unlimited family plan.
Did not do anything to the phone.
 
1) MMS? No
2) GB? 16
3) Location? MN
4) Plan? iPhone Unlimited Texting
5) Restore? Tried updating to b2 from b1 and it corrupted into DFU mode
6) Edit any files? Yes used someone's carrier file to enable tethering and keep mms
 
Where do you get the ATT_US ipcc or whatever it's called? Does someone know where there is a guide. That would be great.
 
Ok. Got the MMS working.

All the instructions are correct.

After downloading beta 2:
I had to call ATT and ask them to turn on standard next (not iphone text)
Turn of WiFi
Turn off the phone and turn it back on.
 
for some reason mms and wifi are related.
check your voicemail. is it still there?

Did you have to change your texting plan? or did they just change how it works in there system? are you paying the same amount? I right now get 1500 texts for 8.99 through a fan discount i found on here...and i don't believe that it is iphone specific...i wonder what to do??? It won't work as it is, tried updating the carrier settings and such..no luck any ideas?
 
works intermittently

my problem is it only works some of the time.
last night, no issues, could send and receive regardless as to wether or not i was connected to wifi.
tonight on the other hand, i could neither receive nor send MMS.
this must be an att issue.

16GB 3G, Carrier Version reads "AT&T 5.0"
added modified .ipcc in 3.0a, no changes since 3.0b
unlimited family messaging plan, called att to "provision" my account just in case.

How do you get the fan discount?
 
i have 3G, 3.0 B2 and i have "Messaging Unlimited For Families - Shared"
i have not been able to send MMS and i have AT&T 3.5 ipcc. what else?
 
if i turn on wifi i have visual voicemail and no mms
if wifi is off i have MMs and no visual voicemail.


I just find it funny and FRUSTRATING!

Nope...no dice...didnt work on mine.

I am not to worried about it...think I will just wait until they allow us to beta test it instead of trying to circumvent. Its obvious its not ready and when it is then it will work with bugs the first time. Have been without MMS since June 29 2007 and doing just fine with SMS.

Adding files and calling AT&T and messing with your accounts is probably not a wise thing to do. You may end up messing it up or accruing extra charges that you will have to change again when Apple/AT&T says to do it this way.

Good Luck to those trying, those that have it Enjoy and I will stay happy for all of you while I patiently wait for it to be done right.
 
OK. This is good, because I'm NOT a techie and I got it working.

Yes, the visual voicemail is working.

Actually from the my iphone I dialed 611. (Thats the number to get customer service.)
I talked to a representative and asked him to change my "iphone" texting plan to just "standard" texting. I asked him to be sure NOT to change anything else. He did it.

He told me to wait an hour for it to take effect.

I then turned OFF my WiFi, and then turned OFF my entire iPhone.
Turned it back on and MMS was working. (The wifi is still off however, never turned that back on...)

My YouTube is working fine (although I could care less...)
 
One thing I am finding odd, and certainly something some might want to take advantage of, and also a reason why it might be intermittent for some....

The mms I'm sending and receiving (group SMS seem to be counted as mms if you have mms turned on in settings) are not being recorded in the OLAM. It was mentioned by another poster to check and see what number it's being sent to, around page 2 or 3 of this thread, I did and have continued to through out the day, seems to be accurate with about a 3 hour delay, except for the MMS. They do not show up at all, I forwarded several (sms jokes, no multimedia attachments) to groups of people today, none of those are recorded either, just the single sms I sent.

Would also explain AT&T's reticence to turn it on for people. If apple has implemented mms in such a way that AT&T cannot record it at this point in time...they are losing money, in their eyes anyway. I have unlimited data and unlimited messaging so I'm covered, one way or the other, but some might not.
 
Ok. I can confirm that if you have att change it to a regular plan, Turn off and on iPhone. Then Turn off wifi MMS works! and my Visual Voicemail works! Im stoked! Ive sent 3 MMS messages! and I have NEVER been able to send them on BETA 1 with the .ipcc file or BETA 2! I removed the .ipcc file and restored it to the factory settings. Hope this helps!

are u on a 8 gig or 16 gig.. 16 gig
what location are u in the USA Los Angeles
what plan are u on? B2B 1500 + Pay as you go MMS
did u restore from a backup? yes
did u edit any files? no

I have the B2B 1500 SMS plan for 8.99 and that plan does not allow MMS messages. I called ATT up and had them add pay as you go MMS to my plan and MMS has worked perfectly after that.
 
So I applied the IPCC(on beta2) and have completely lost the ability to even TRY and send mms. There is no longer a camera icon under messages(and yes I had mms on in the settings). Looks like i'm restoring once i get home eh?
 
okay.. sooo i updated my ipcc file to 5.0... lost even the chance to send a mms..
i called att 3 times and all of them said they cant do it..
and lastly ive never gotten my visual voicemail to work.. sooooo

happened to me too. Anyone have the 3.5 file link?
 
if u just do a restore back to beta 2 it will downgrade back to 3.5 and u can also restore from backup.. it doesnt backup those settings so u will be fine.. thats what i did
 
I just re-loaded the correct 3.5 file (from the 1st page) and restored that file - now I have 3.5 NOT 5.0. Note that I did have to use a windows computer, b/c I couldn't download it correctly (kept giving me a .bundle file) - it just made it easier.
 
Is there ANY hope for those of us that have stuck with the first gen iphone? I have 3.0B2 and i have the MMS turned on in the setting, but in messaging I don't see anywhere that I can actually send a picture....
 
O. k i can send and receive mms regardless of if my wifi is on or off, on 3g or edge, it doesnt matter, mine still works, flawlessly.

i can get visual voice mail regardless of if my wifi is off or on.

I have an 16Gig 3G iphone
Once you have the right Carrier 3.5 and beta 2, you should have no problem, just let At&t Change you to a regular (non-iphone) text messaging plan.

After the changes are made, just rebooot your phone, it will work.
