Push everything seems to be working for me on my Macbook, my iPod and Me.com.

I don't think it's fully working on my Windows computer. Does anyone know why syncing calendars is greyed out in the preferences on my windows computer? All other syncing works on windows.

Finally!

As of 8:00 PM EST, I have full use of MobileMe and it is much faster and easier to work with now. I was able to set up my Preferences for each section; mail let me add my other POP mail account, just like I have it in my Mail app.

Everything is much easier to use and faster but I still think Apple dropped the ball big time on this launch. I'm really surprised and didn't expect it. I would think that after the rollout of the original iPhone they would've been better prepared for the demands on their servers. And I'm still wondering why the haven't updated all the software, like iPhoto and iWeb.

I'm with those who think that we gave up a lot in .Mac to get web apps and push mail/calendars/contacts. And I also had the same issue with MobileMe working fine on Firefox last night but not with Safari and I agree that Apple should've communicated better with us loyal customers about what was happening. Steve Jobs can't be happy about this, even with iPhone 3Gs selling out around the world....

Push works from the cloud to my iPhone, but it definitely doesn't work from the cloud to my Macbook Pro.

Also I noticed Push only worked when it was created from my iPhone. If I created it in Mail, and then synced the mail account from iTunes, the Push wouldn't work even when turned on..

Anybody with similar troubles and/or have a solution.

What about your desktop/laptop? Is it pushing from the cloud to your computer?

For me my mail pushes from cloud to my computer (mobile me web interface to outlook, gmail to mobile me cloud to my outlook, aol to mobile me cloud to my outlook).

PC to cloud (web interface or any of my other email accounts) works just as well.

I set up my palm Centro I have on sprint to get mail me, and that gets my mail fine :D

Calendar and contacts on mobile me web interface pushes to my outlook fine.

Can't get my outlook contacts or calendar to push to web interface  warning manual sync (reset in advanced) can erase your outlook contacts if they are not in the web interface, cloud.

I am off to set up my macbook now (after I back everything up) and try to publish an iweb website to mobile me (never had .mac - just signed up last night).

As compared to last night up through now.... i think there has been major improvements and such a quick turn-around for such a huge undertaking and debacle early on. Looks like I may actually enjoy this, and once I get my Omnigroup products (omnigraffle, Dazzle), my mac experience will be complete :D

I did a little ranting early on, so now i want to give a big applause to Apple :apple::D no other company that I have had dealings with or worked for (no I do not work for apple) has turned around such a mess with such a large undertaking in such a quick manner.. keep up the hard work guys, you are proving why apple is such a leader

I'm in the same spot with my MacBook. Push is working from the cloud to iPhone and iPhone to cloud, with email, calendar, and contacts. The only way, however, to get it to my MacBook is to sync.

I don't think anyone has had success getting push to work to a computer via Outlook or Mail.

Try going into System Preferences and clicking on the .Mac icon and click on the tabs in there, this prompts a dialogue box to pop up with the information.

*goes to find the alert*

Here is the dialogue box that should pop up:

Awesome, thanks!

I MUST disagree. They are a huge corporation and they should have at LEAST issued statements to keep customers informed. Also, if things were not improving in a reasonable time frame, there should have been a fallback plan to the old system until they worked out the problems.

Umm... While I agree with you, looking from the other side of the fence (I worked at a company that had a platform keep failing with every update for a year - I quit since the managers would not listen to reason, they just wanted to push new features and screw support).

1. Issue Statements - sometimes the worse you can do; as that raises more questions. everytime a news report came out yesterday; Apple stock slipped. i was watching NASDAQ through GOOGLE all day.

2. Fall back plan - yes I agree. to me they should have phased the roll out of existing customers or flipped the switch back; although I have been in situations where fallback is not so easy and you must just press onward to get the new one up and running.

Well, now that it looks like we are improving greatly. off to setup my mac. My outlook is not perfect, but what we have so far works for my needs.

Well I never doubted them for a minute. Not the perfect roll-out, but not a disaster. It's up and running perfectly for me and everything is being pushed and synced between iMac, MacBook Pro and iPhone. Also accessed it from a Dell notebook running Vista.

Later in the week my next challenge will be to get the iPhone first gen moved over to my wife and get the new iPhone 3G set up syncing both to MobileMe and the exchange server at my office.

Ultra-productivity you are in my sights :)

Desktop Push NOT Active

I spoke to Apple Support today and the guy informed me that desktop push is not yet active. However, it is active in MobileMe and the iPhone. Until the transition is complete and desktop push is turned on, it will only update when synced (every 10 minutes or so, if set on automatic).

There are still references and .Mac logos strewn about Leopard even after the 1.1 update. You think they would've given all this a big test run before making it live and had some folks beta test it and provide comments. Very slipshod work here, not to mention that there aren't updates for Tiger, et al. yet either.

It should've gone something like this:

:apple: guy #1: "Okay, .me is almost ready, did we forget anything?"
:apple: guy #2: "I dunno, did you check things like iPhoto to see if there's stuff in there that needs changed?"
:apple: guy #1: "Good point. We should go through the apps one at a time just to make sure we didn't miss anything before letting this go live."

:apple: guy #2: "Oh, and do you think we should keep the 'cloud' reference? Isn't telling all these savvy Mac users that their stuff is in a magical cloud in the sky a bit infantile and patronizing?"

iPhoto is not a part of Mac OS X. I imagine an iPhoto update will be available soon.

I typed in mail.me.com, set it in Safari as my home page, and now when I go to MobileMe and login, it opens on the Mail page and not iDisk. Thanks for the tip!
Morod

Just so everyone knows mail is the default page after signing in no - over the last several days it has been iDisk because mail was being worked on.

Apple is very sneaky with this update. It doesn't show up in my Software Update and it's not listed in Apple Downloads page. Some people get this update while others don't.

Apple, please stop being so sneaky with this update.
Thank you.

What do you mean by syncing the Mail account from iTunes? What does iTunes have to do with your mail?

I am not using mobile me but I am an update addict...even if I don't use the software. Regardless it is sort of annoying that this update didn't show up for me in the updater but when I went to system preferences and clicked .Mac it worked then...oh well got it in the end I suppose.

Finally, it's running smoothly. I played with it last night and it was a dog. Totally unusable. It's running great tonight. I feel like I got my money's worth now.

Anyway, if you watch the intro video, they talk about a cool feature on the iDisk where you can share a file. It sends the recipient a link to the file. I don't have that option/button. Is there something I'm missing?

Me.com wasn't sluggish at all for me, and the push IS working.. atleast for me. Everything should be up and dandy soon.

which push is working? Push to iPhone or push to your mac? I hear the first is working but changing things on my mac, they don't sync to MM and vice versa. I need to hit the 'sync' icon in the toolbar and wait .. and then reload the MM page .. then it works.

Push to Mac from web/iPhone seems to be working for me finally (Mail is still not Push on Mac, though).

Push anything from Mac is still not working. This is a problem since I would be editing my calendars, address book, bookmarks from my Mac the vast majority of time.

Help

I tried clicking the tabs in the system preferences, but i dont get a prompt for update. Im on 10.4.11, does that matter? is there a direct link anywhere?

According to the guy I spoke with at Apple, Mail.app is never going to be push, just IMAP which you can set to sync every minute, as it has always been. I asked him why they'd make everything else push, except mail on the mac, and he said he had no idea why they did it, but didn't think they'd be changing it. If it's checking every minute though, it doesn't really make a big difference.

Push for Calendar and Address book is coming, but it shouldn't be a big deal without it, for now. If you have it set to sync automatically, it will still sync to MobileMe, and then be pushed to your iPhone, within 20 minutes or so. You're not gonna be going long without it.

On the other hand, the MobileMe control panel showed up under Windows XP on my MacBook without me having to do anything (at least that I can remember).

At long last, MobileMe seems to be working properly for me. Though I don't use the e-mail services, I've had no problems getting all my calendars, contacts and photos synced up.

It appears not. I created a trial account using my old expired .Mac username without any prompts that the username was already in use. So if you want your expired account username as your me.com address I suggest moving quickly.

yes I think that's right. I'm sure I tried to sign up for my 'usual' name at .mac a couple of years ago and couldn't, that name was already in use. However I signed up for it at mobileme the day it started and got it. So I'm assuming the name was in-use, but inactive, and I managed to get it.

i've installed the mobileme update on my ibook and imac. it changed mail.app in the ibook so the me.com email address is in there but not on the imac (so i put that in manually). both macs have the incoming and outgoing mail servers as mac.com; shouldn't they be me.com?

If the guy you talked to at Apple is correct, it's ridiculous. It doesn't make any sense why they would limit Apple Mail to not take advantage of Push. Especially after advertising that it would (or at least suggesting heavily that it would).
