I'm in the same boat as other folks. Only iPod touch <---> Cloud push works, none of my other computers work with Push (except for email... kinda). Twitter reports have been all around although I have one friend who says he has full push services on everything, so it's a major hit or miss around here.

Ugh... We need refunded a bit for the ups and downs. Or a bump in storage. That would be nice.

Is there a simple list of what does and doesn't work in Tiger? I hope calendar does (I'm getting Calendar Error right now).

MobileMe on Tiger 10.4.11 flat not working

Has anyone managed to get the update working on OSX Tiger?

Unfortunately not, Im running Tiger 10.4.11 and still get everything .Mac, when I do the software update nothing new pops up, in the sys pref i log in and when playing around with the tabs it just says it failed to login at .Mac ( duuuh you nimrods at apple, obviously is not login in cause there's no more .Mac)

Things like this really piss me off, I mean if they wanna swallow the whole jar of chilies in one go fair enough (launching Iphone, mobileMe, 2.0 update, Apple TV, etc, but I would expect them to acknowledge they are choking when things get stuck in their throats and let us know plain and simple:

MobileMe for Tiger not working yet, will release the updates for everyone in such and such timeframe.

F#@#$ers!!

fwiw, i manually updated mobile me using the MobileMe.pkg yesterday...and while the icon in sys prefs changed, that was it. i did not get the software update...

so i restarted and everything updated...the iDisk icon in the finder is that ugly cloud now and the mail/idisk data shows properly in sys prefs. a simple restart may work some of you...hopefully.

I updated with the MobileMe.pkg as well.

How did you remove the installed files and start again with Software Update?

I signed up for the trial, but it won't recognize my password. I tried to change it and it changed my Apple ID, but still I can't log in me.com The password retrieval seems messed up.

I still don't get it. Apple needs a clue.

Since dot mac was foisted upon Mac users, every time Apple releases something big, they act like they've never released something big before. They are continually flummoxed by server issues. "Wow, we had no idea it'd be this popular! This has never happened before!!! We should have added more server space! OMG!!!"

And when they do release something big, you just KNOW that the dot mac/MobileMe servers are going to be down for periods of time measured in hours and days, not minutes.

I need to know I can count on my email. I need to know I can count on being able to sync my desktop, laptop, and iPhone. If I'm in between meetings away from home, I need to know I can access my Back to My Mac and my iDisk. Otherwise, I have to bail on MobileMe and look for other solutions.

I've been using Apple computers for 25 years now, so I'm not exactly a noob when it comes to Apple stuff. They come up with the most awesome products, but they also seem like they are in WAY over their heads, at least lately.

My Mail application stopped sending emails as of Thursday. I get a server error message on both my Intel iMac and Powerbook (both running Leopard):

"Cannot send message using the server smtp.mac.com:[my user name]

The server “smtp.mac.com” refused to allow a connection on port 25.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

Sending from:[my email]"

(btw, there's only one server "in the list below".)

I can send messages from inside Safari and MobileMe.

Does anyone else get this? How to resolve it?

Back to My Mac (a Leopard feature) doesn't work and mail needs to be setup differently under Tiger, but everything else seems to work equally well on both my 10.4 and 10.5 system, ...when... MobileMe is working 100% (which hasn't been that often during the last couple of days.) Calendar, and Calendar push, seem to work for me on and between systems running Tiger and Leopard together with an iPod Touch with v.2.0. (Again, it works only when MobileMe is 100%)

There are FAQs and guides on the left side of your "account" screen, under "Announcements" in MobileMe that provide some of the details on use w/Tiger.

BTW, there is (yet) no Tiger update for MobileMe -- see the Apple support discussion re: Tiger update. Tiger should work without it, but the icons will still be .Mac icons, etc.

... Worse still, according to my .mac panel, I apparently never received the long past upgrade from 5 GB to 10GB (?!). Perhaps I am living in some sort of void?

...
Uh, no, actually you have received the upgrade to 10gb according to the screenshot you posted: it's split 5gb to mail and 5gb to iDisk (this is default--it can be changed via preferences). When you are upgraded to 20gb with MobileMe, the default will be 10/10.

I think that's intended to say "Please re-enter the password for [username] to access...", judging from the use of "the" before password. "Please re-enter the password to access..." does validate, but just doesn't sound like something that would look good on that type of dialog.
You are correct. The problem is that now the username appears only sporadically... in general the whole service is still a bit flakey and unstable (but steadily getting better).

D'oh!!! I was void of a brain there. Thank you. I feel a little less frustrated now.

bought into .mac cool aid but questioning...

I'm not one that cares to pile on but I bought into the .Mac family a year ago and with this update, am failing to see the value (note, I do not have an iPhone and only use a MBP). I suspect that Apple will get through this hiccup however I'm still not seeing the value of my $99. I'll have to make a renewal decision in 1 month...

Thanks localoid. Here's what the FAQ says:

I have Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, can I still use MobileMe?
Most MobileMe features work with Tiger, but you must be running the latest version (currently version 10.4.11) and MobileMe features will still appear as .Mac. Some features, such as Back to My Mac, do require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. For details about using Mail with MobileMe in Mac OS X 10.4.11, read this article*.

I’m still running Mac OS X 10.3 Panther or older. Can I use MobileMe?
Most MobileMe features will not work on Mac OS X versions older than 10.4 Tiger. This is due to the fact that MobileMe incorporates new technologies and capabilities that came along after these OS versions were created. However, some functions will continue to work, including:

Email using Mac OS X Mail
Using iDisk in the Finder
Publishing from iWeb 1.0

I have my account set up for a free trial. I'm running Tiger, so all the icons say .Mac, as they should. I can verify my account in the Account tab in System Preferences, set up my iDisk so that I get an icon on my desktop, and log in to the me.com website. But when I click Sync in System Preferences, I get the running status bar for a long time and them I'm told that .Mac login failed.

Is this to do with running Tiger, or is this because MobileMe is still not very reliable? I guess I don't understand how I can log in on the website but two second later it can't log me in through System Preferences?

Problem in Mail

When I compose a new email, the auto-fill doesn't work in the TO: field. Clicking on "Add Contact(s) To This Message" just turns the message a dark gray and does nothing. I have to open my Address Book from the dock to find the contact and enter their email address manually. This can't be right.
Morod

try and restart...and everything should update normally. you should be up to date.

Nope, that doesn't do anything for me. I restarted and the Mobile Me icon is there but no 1.1 update from Software Update.

Interesting....

While i had some problems early on, I am not getting all the problems you all are having. I wonder if anyone who signed up new (like me) runs fine, but anyone who had .mac is having conflicting problems with the functionaility.

the only part on my windows box that is not working is my Calendar and contacts going from my PC to the cloud. everything else is working fine, and i can even get me mobile me email pushed to my sprint palm centro. If I am logged into outlook and send an email from my gmail to my mobile me, it shows up on my outlook on my windows pc's in about a minute.

I am still working on setting up my mac. i had to do backups and apply all the updates. i never updated since 10.5.2 I figure I will have my mac up and running this afternoon.

Anyway, if you watch the intro video, they talk about a cool feature on the iDisk where you can share a file. It sends the recipient a link to the file. I don't have that option/button. Is there something I'm missing?

Try reading the thread before posting.

Mobileme seems to be working fine for me. I have tested email to/from iphone and mac and both show up almost instantly. ical works as well. Mail shows up on each device almost instantly and ical events take about 10-15 seconds to appear

I am having problems with Sending pictures from my iphone to the photo gallery.

But i know for a fact that i have a Web Gallery setup for this.
