Perhaps then Apple will simply be announcing pre-orders and firm ship dates in the coming weeks then...
That sounds entirely reasonable to me. I hope Apple does make an official announcement sometime soon.

mhm, I can appreciate Apples frenetic drive for secrecy and all, but it sure makes planing hardware upgrades and the like difficult as all hell.

Whichever month it's released, it'll be on the 24th. Heck, it might even be announced on April 15th, and released on May 24th. Given Amazon's projected ship dates, past and present (for Panther and Jaguar, and now Tiger), I'd say that's most likely. Plus, from what I've heard, even 8A414 is at least a month away from GM.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information out there right now...

I think the main issue is that the quality of the builds do not reflect a production ready OS. Yet, once you negate that, everything seems to fall into place...the wrap party, the timing, and key people on vacation.

Personally, I subscribe to the theory that the builds may be rather old, or only certain portions have been updated that Apple wants feedback on.

We'll get our answer in two weeks.

I have been saying for quite a while now that the release date will be on the 24th. Someone else posted that all previous Mac OS X releases have been on the 24th. So I think this is a pattern that won't be broken.

No the latest seed Build 8A414 isn't old

What about 10.1?

Yeah, it's coming.

I've had recent confirmation from a few people I talk to regularly that the production suite and Tiger will be out for NAB. Or at least debuting at NAB. Trainings, documentation, and other things in the pipeline have been coming to my attention recently. It's not far off.

good times for us Apple users over the next month or so. :) YAY!

Eek, I need to save up my $129 bucks! :)

I wish you luck with your savings. Hopefully Apple will release Tiger at the point that you have the $129 available. ;)

Hahah, I was actually kidding, I do have the money, I was just expressing how the Final versions of Tiger are probably going to be out sooner then we all first thought.

Tiger 8A414 beta Networking Wakeup after sleep problem

Has anyone besides me noticed that the latest beta causes networking to hang after putting PowerBook to sleep.

I get a hang every time I wake my Pbook backup.
It also causes the system to not be able to shutdown after this happens.
So you have to power off.
This happens whether or not you stop networking before you put the PBook to sleep.

To avoid it you have to shutdown every time.

Please report the problem to Apple so others don't suffer the same fate. The wake from sleep bug which was supposed to be fixed with 10.3.8, didn't completely appear to be repaired according to some posts in Apple Discussions. The more people report in the beta testing issues, the better a chance the next update will at least have a chance of having those bugs isolated. I don't have any of the betas, but if you do, it is your responsibility to report those issues to Apple. Apple does not read these boards except to take legal action if someone is spreading rumors too close to the truth.

I thought that was part of being a beta tester, that you send Apple updates on progress and any problems. That's for sure if Apple isn't told about a problem then it may not get fixed.

I'm not a beta tester, but I do my part. When Safari crashes, I always elect to send a message to Apple.

Safari has been crashing quite frequently lately. It was rock solid two updates ago. Ah well, if this keeps up, I'm moving over to PC since I am slightly disappointed with Doom3 performance.

Wow! Now that's kind of drastic.

Unless all he does is play Doom 3. ;)
