So maybe now the crowd here will stop calling Samsung a copy-cat since their recent phones look nothing remotely like iPhones, and have unique features. Motorola is blatantly copying here... no question about it. I can't imagine Apple not taking action against them. Of course this could be a way for Motorola to get some attention since they have been a ghost in the market for many years recently.
Well they will probably say we didn’t copy it all from you Apple, we copied the back from Huawei.

In some way it's the other way round here. Those bags claimed to be authentic originals, however those phones actually claim to be different haha
I remember having a fake Burberry. The place I got it from was pretty clear it was a knockoff.

I wonder what the decision makers at Motorola were thinking when they approved this blatant rip-off. It’s actaully funny because it really is dumbfounding how this can happen.

Who cares, at this point? You can’t do much more with a phone design that hasn’t been done already. At this point, function is everything, as form is barely relevant anymore.

Amen. How many more unnecessary iOS reinventions while courageously sacrificing useful ports/buttons/jacks do you think we’ll have to endure before Apple realizes what you and I and many others have known for five years now?

This popped up on my FB memories from 2012 (I was disgusted with the misused apostrophes).

UI looks terrible and dated IMO. I’d hate for them to go back to an iOS 6 or earlier look.

LOL! Back when people called taxis. And they’re advertising they “actually take credit cards” sheesh! Man how times have changed. Every taxi in NYC has chip readers and Uber’s Lyft’s everywhere.

Xiaomi and Oppo operate in China. They both rip off the iPhone. Moto is now owned by a Chinese company. I think it’s no big deal over there.

Anyone familiar with copyright law or with a law degree know whether Apple can sue Motorola or prevent it's products from being sold in certain countries without paying royalties to Apple? Or is the law set up in a way anyone can copy anybody as long as they make it slightly different?

I bet it will never come to the US or Europe. There’s a reason why you don’t see Xiaomi and Oppo phones over here.

Wait, what? That makes no sense whatsoever. When a company like Apple sues, they sue strategically. Not indiscriminately. Do you understand what you're advocating is essentially the business plan for a patent troll? Sue erbody!!!! And your suggestion is to put some legality behind it:(

That's just a patently bad idea.

It would be like owning a store and various people come in to steal stuff, and just because you don't like one of them, you tel the police about this one person again and again, whilst not saying anything about the others taking stuff.

Good to know. I was quick to assume that this was confirmed for the North American and European markets.

You can't deny Apple's influence on the tech industry. Other companies making products that resemble iPhones, iPads, Macbook Pros, etc.

Though one might have to think there will be fewer and fewer innovative styles now. Every tech company chasing profits after Apple so they imitate their style but tech style in general will stagnate or already have.

If you look at other nice looking non-Apple hardware i.e. Huawei's Matebook Pro X, reviews always compare it to the MBP in looks.

I went for notch, sold my notch and got a new Iphone 7 Plus, back from where I came. And I am pretty happy that I did.
It would be sad if the notch would be the only option. Perhaps that would make me switch to another brand, after all those years! Seriously!

Xiaomi, sounds exotic, and could relieve me from post Steve Jobs stress.

Good luck with that.

Everyone is copying the notch even Xiaomi.

Parts of the design are just logical. But they’re shooting themselves in the foot for even imitating the wallpaper, status bar symbols, and camera arrangement.

What we consume on all these devices is inside of it. Like wine from a bottle.

Back in the beginning having a mobile phone was giving a hype state of mind, a status symbol or a statement of personality. All part of the superficial material consumerism, where people aim to stand out of the crowd.

Before that, computers were for nerds, who were like ranked below all others humans as being too intelligent, wasting that intelligence on something unsubstantial.

Nowadays,... who hasn’t a mobile phone, which is more a computer than anything else.

Now that everybody got hooked, the looks will matter less. The brain has moved its attention to the immaterial parrsonality that it creates, and some day this whole thing will be considered an idiotic exaggeration of the human kind. First as a material item, later as a gateway to the immaterial ego.

Because, let’s figure: I use my phone as a computer, dealing with job as much as I can without having to sit at a desk, in front of a large device.
But, most of the people most probably are more busy with Instagram, facebook, and all that shizzle that I have zero of.

That chin just makes it look horrible. The only reason that the iPhone X looks like its edge to edge is because the bezel around the edges are all the same. Its a great optical illusion. I've yet to see a "edge to edge" display without a chin.

This 100%. It’s absolutely astonishing how no matter how much they copy they can’t get the chin right. Why is it so hard for everyone except Apple? Genuinely curious.

This is an even worse analogy. If 10 people steal from a store the owner is not under any obligation to report all 10 to the police. The owner can report 1, 2, 5, all 10, or none. It's their choice. If they don't care if 9 out of the 10 steal, so be it. Just like it's a company's choice to sue 1, 2, 5, all 10, or none of the alleged infringers. If I'm Apple and I want to only sue Samsung and let everyone else slide, so what? To tell someone they can only report all or sue all is beyond comprehension.

I hope you're not leaning on something along the lines of "that's not fair" to the one thief or infringer. That would be...
