I've been in quite a few states, having lived in a few on both sides of the continent, and have lived overseas. I'm more concerned about caring for my family than I am adding notches in my frequent flyer miles account.

You're the one who decided to share the otherwise worthless information about your travel habits; if you don't want to discuss something about your personal life don't bring it up in the first place. I have officially lost interest in talking to you so whatever.

I love the new update!! Navigon has ever been easier to use... I. Bought this app when it first came out ,and was wondering if we would get new updated maps, and finally we are! 19,99 for a lifetime is a steal imo! Good price !

Something that i don't get is the speed limits feature... How does it work exactly?

Whatever speed limit you set it to (5mph, 10mph, 15mph etc....), the app will give you an audible warning if you're driving over the speed limit.

For example, while navigating and you have the limit set to 5mph, if you're driving 62mph in a 55mph zone, you'll hear an audible voice saying "warning". That voice will continue to repeat "warning" periodically until you drive within 5mph of the speed limit.

It's very annoying and I have mine set to "never". This way, you'll see a yellow colored "!" next to the speed limit icon on the app when speeding, but the annoying "warning" will not be heard.

Ok, so basically same mapping as the old version - new UI is only for getting to things not the UI for mapping. Also I saw some mention that freshmaps 2 year might be for PC but personal devices is lifetime - my only logic in that is this -

I bought the original navigon app, paid for traffic, panoramic maps etc and was told that I get lifetime map updates, now take it from version 1 to version 2 and I have to pay another $15-20 to get maps again - while I understand that they jumped versions their lifetime maps statement is still not true. Following this logic when they go to version 3 we start over again, and version 4 and.....

But on a side note - if you have all maps downloaded right now, up to date as of today, then a map refresh comes out, if you delete the app then redownload does that then give you the new maps they just released?

Not really a fan of this update. I bought this app BECAUSE it stored all the maps in memory. Having to re-d/l the maps on all my devices and everytime I restore (I assume) is going to be a PITA.

Not to mention I bought it under the impression that map updates would be included...

To be fair - if you had to restore - you would have to reinstall navigon at that point - the old app had all the maps bundled and installed the 2.4GB at one time, this way if you never travel you can keep your space and only download the maps you need. I dont disagree with the logic of allowing you to pick which maps to store on your phone however I do disagree with the price structure for updating. And yes it is a PITA to have to choose all the maps - I wish they had a select all option....

Has anyone found the turn-by-turn list? I've looked all over the place and can only come to the conclusion that it's gone from 2.0.

If that's the case, does TomTom have turn-by-turn? I may look into buying that app next time it goes on sale.

Loving the new update so far! At least some of the UI has been redone and blends a bit better with iOS 5 (other parts are still not updated but I don't visit the options too often beyond initial setup). I like the FreshMaps availability. Still far more functionality than a stand-alone PND and and for a lower overall cost. My wife's Garmin lifetime updates purchase was $80!

It's there. I think if you click on the top right icon on a map, it takes you to a bunch of options, and Turn by Turn is there.

Personally, I think it would have been fair to let those who purchased Navigon 1.0 to get the 2 years of updates for $19.99 for free within the sale period

It's about $30 right now, I purchased the program for $49.99 when it promised lifetime map updates, about a month ago

I could live with not having lifetime updates if Navigon would quit asking for my money after my initial investment not that long ago

Thank you! I looked there but couldn't get it to scroll so thought the options I saw were all there was. Today it scrolled and I found the t-b-t at the bottom of the list. I appreciate your help!

I agree! I paid $80 for the app when I bought it with the knowledge of lifetime maps updates... not sure what I'll do about the freshmaps at this point.

Ummm, you still get map updates, just not quarterly. Am I missing something? You constantly need updates? Do the road change that much around you?

To me it seems those who don't want freshmaps, still get updates, but just once a year, and not quarterly.

Either I am confused or,......

For all worried about lifetime updates, from the article I read about what they were doing to Navigon a few weeks back you still get yearly updates, but if you want more frequent updates, you have to buy the "freshmaps". Which also gets you any maps you are missing from N. America so it is especially a good deal if you are missing maps (which may be why I am seeing a 24.99 price for mine when everyone is saying they see 19.99 as the price).

Yay!

I'm glad somebody figured out the obvious... People not subscribed to Freshmaps may only get annual map updates or biannual updates. Per the Navigon website, updates typically should be out in the first month of each quarter: http://support.navigonusa.com/suppo...ing+NAVIGON+FreshMap+updates+going+forward%3F

As long as we get updates yearly, that is nice! I don't need quarterly refreashes

Okay cool, I fig'd I was on to it an wasn't reading everything wrong. FreshMaps is cool though, but living in So Cal we don't get many roads added on top of the too many we have right now. :) So yearly updates are fine by me.

Thanks everyone for your feedback regarding the new NAVIGON 2.0 for iPhone update. We would like to address some concerns about our new FreshMaps map updating service. Our app uses high quality maps from NAVTEQ, which require us to pay license fees. That’s why only two of our eight updates within the last two years included new maps. FreshMaps does involve a onetime fee, but it also provides you guaranteed quarterly map updates. This is more frequent than any other premium onboard app on the market, enabling our app to provide best in class road guidance.

Question asked: just to clarify, this is a one-time fee, and not a once-annually fee?

Question Answered by Navigon: Thanks for your additional questions! FreshMaps provides quarterly map updates for at least two years for a onetime fee

Still updating . . .

I really like Navigon, but this new approach of updating one map at a time via the phone (instead of my Mac) is a PITA. I have been downloading for hours on my DSL line. Then some of the states "disappear" and I have to recheck them. I travel a lot so I need all the states. Wish they had a "select all" option. No way I am going to do this quarterly.

This update is so damn confusing. I'm just not going to bother updating rIght now at all.

What I wanna know is what is the full size of everything once you download all of the maps for north America? I read some guys review in the app store and he said its 11gb. Is that right??

I've got a good part of the East Coast + Indiana/Illinois and my app is sitting at 680mb. 1.2gb less than the original app with all maps. So I doubt it's going to be 11gb even if you put all of the U.S. and Canada on.
