I'm surprised that Apple hasn't gone back to the black plastic option--how long has it been, 3 years?

I wonder if the black MacBook somehow cannibalizes the aluminum 13" MBP. It shouldn't, but I can't think of any other reason not to bring it back.

I can't help but wonder if the leaks are intentional... Apple trying to get consumers to hold off on buying newer PC products because they've been so tardy in refreshing their own product lines. Either this, or they're setting up everyone for a surprise the next time they update their product lines (if people are all expecting the leaks beforehand).

Or... maybe Apple is just getting too large/prominent to keep a lid on operations now.

Plastic Macbooks don't surprise me in the least... why would Apple give up one of the leading premium features of the macbook pro line?

To start off, you made my ignore list too (I do not know why I decided to view your post, maybe I hoped you could open your eyes and mind). I am just guessing you have made quite a few people's.
Wow, I've made your ignore list? I'm shaking in my boots. I really couldn't give a rats ass what you decide to do.

Then if you really think there are NEVER flaws in the manufacturing process, you need to look into probabilities, because these machines like anything else are susceptible to failure and other issues which require maintenance (besides the problems caused by human error). Nonetheless, I am sure Apple has a very high return rate in producing these machines, enough where they would feel comfortable boosting such statistics.
I trust Apple's engineers more than I trust a jabone on an internet forum who thinks he's tough from adding someone to their ignore list and making it public that he's done so. Did you watch their unibody video? There isn't much margin for error when talking about the chassis.

More over, I believe Apple meant that they get the same results from machining every single time, versus assembly from multiple parts would require greater tolerance and sometimes fitment may not be as good as expected.
So you are guessing that's what Apple meant just because it fits your argument. Cool.

You really seem incapable of understanding people's intentions by the comments being made, much less, you seem to be incapable of understanding basic concepts being outlined to you.
I seem to be incapable of understanding basic concepts from these so called industry experts that have no idea that a white MacBook weighs more than a 13" MacBook Pro? LOL!

I still await any sort of evidence to proof your hypothesis that milled aluminum is as cost effective as plastics.
I still await any sort of evidence to prove your hypothesis that the white MacBook costs less to make than the 13" MacBook Pro.

They need to stop!

That was the WORST Apple product unveiling I've ever seen. And his stage presence had even less warmth than Phil Schiller.

Two questions:

Where in the world are you buying these products?

Are you comparing plastic pipe of equal dimensions and volume to the copper pipe?

Costs me about £200 for a single 6" 90 degree bend in plastic, £250 for a T - from the cheapest supplier I can find.

No, I'm comparing 3 miles of plastic tubing to 3mm of copper pipe just to prove a point...

Wow. Those Vietnamese industrial spies must have magic cooters or something to score two pieces of hardware inside of a week.

Yes, and plastic is available naturally from plastic trees.

Seriously, again, the difference is probably a few cents if even that. Aluminium is pretty cheap and flow jets used to make things like the unibody cases are not expensive, at least, not very much more than the energy required to heat up the plastic and molds.

The processes and materials are different. That doesn't mean one is more expensive than the other by any significant margin.

The aluminum unibody is forged/milled from a solid block, not molded... that is way more expensive.

Looks like Apple updated their homepage announcing this update. Hmm...wonder if it was in response to this leak. In other words, since the cat is already out of the bag...might as well make it official.

Right, it's in the store now. So why the fuss?

ETA that is the "Pro"

Apple NEVER used to lose prototypes before, now it seems like they just fall out of the sky. Really odd..

Yes, they did. This is not the first time we've seen glimpse or photos of a new product that's due out.

One thing is missing from this thread though that usually happens when there's leaks like this, where are all the photoshop experts claiming there's artifacts if you blow up the pictures which indicate that it is indeed a manipulated image ?

I guess last time they were laughed out of the building with the 5 USB port Mac Mini they never came back...

HAHA! Troll? This is hilarious, I love when [continuation of overly enthused sentiments]

Frantic attempts? More like you just [continuation in high-strung tones]

Reality check: there's only one complete fool to an objective observer. There's an easy way to settle this. Show some posts you've written, with or without the relevant responses, and hide your name if necessary. Then ask, neutrally, "What impression do you get of the poster by reading these posts?" Ask around. You will find that your subjective appraisal of yourself is not shared by people who know "childish" when they see it.

Just to be coy, I will provide a "proof," your all-too-revealing misnomer for discursive arguments.

Plastic or aluminum, the materials are fairly cheap. Aluminum does cost a bit more than plastic, typically. But they're both pretty cheap, and Apple makes computers out of both. It is conceivable that they move one way or another in the future. Let's talk this way - what is the "cash value" of this "argument" you are having? It's basically nil. There is absolutely no cash value to your argument. None. Not in real cash value, and certainly not in intellectual value. All sides, but especially you, have said nothing of any tangible or intangible consequence. Go out to a local pub, ring some glasses to get everyone's attention, and then announce, "I just spent hours writing umpteen posts on an online forum debating the relative manufacturing costs of aluminum and polycarbonate laptop shells!" And naturally, some guy at the bar will shout in response, "Loser!" And God would thus smile upon you being carried out of the tavern, and the men would eat, drink, and be merry again! Cheers!

This is a technique called proof by bar jeer.

It could also be a batch of new manufacturers with less security than previous outsource'd companies.

i can see Apple invading Vietnam after all these leaks

Oh, yes! Because Vietnam+US invasion= great success story...

er... wait...

Currently, the US couldn't even find a frail old man in a cave with a video camera...

er, wait a second...

I have trouble comparing graphics cards. The model numbers kinda make no sense unless you're familiar with all the 'families'. How good is the 320M?

Why is there so many negative Ratings, i mean this is just a leak and good to know or did i miss something?
