Unless you buy a Pro model if you are a Pro fessional, which these are designed for. We bought three almost maxed out 16“ within a minute of the apple store coming back up, and will buy more soon. People who don’t know what ROI is think these are pricey. They’re not. ROI is quick. The Air is a perfect consumer model that will smoke anything else it’s size and price. I think that’s the forum for you.Two thousand bones for a laptop is pretty steep....
Thanks for letting me know I’m in the wrong place and should go someplace else. ?Unless you buy a Pro model if you are a Pro fessional, which these are designed for. More that if you are complaining about $2k for this laptop you 1) have not seen the price of the prior 16" (or its predecessors), and 2) are not the target demographic for them. The last 4 Macbook Pros I have purchased for personal work and development have cost: $2900 (15"), $3200 (15"), $3300 (16"), and $3800 (16" M1 Max). The only reason the new Intel MBP is more expensive than mine (2019 model) is that the 560X was the top end when I purchased. If I had purchased last year I would have expected to pay $3700 since the Radeon Pro is ~ $300 more expensive than the old option. I have gotten my money's worth out of all these computers and do not expect to pay less than $3k for a top-of-the-line MBP ever. If you think the price is steep then you have the wrong expectations for a high-end laptop (Mac or otherwise). Thanks for letting me know I’m in the wrong place and should go someplace else. ?
Oh yeah, sorry, I must have not been visiting all the ‘pro’ forums demanding a notch in their screen. Of course I’m not a ‘pro’ in the current Macrumors forum sense, I just use my work supplied Apple laptop to make a living. In that sense, like I said earlier, the incredible performance of the M1 Pro and Max will ensure these laptops sell well. From a design perspective, this iteration of laptop is a step back and it looks like someone Huawei would be selling.I know it's crazy right? It's almost like Apple didn't design a computer specifically for you, but rather what it's pro customer base has been asking for. Hopefully the next one they design will be in your honor =). If something isn't for you, you are welcome to just move on and buy something that is luckily, but thanks for sharing.
Mines similar, just moved to preparing to ship, but still showing arrives Nov 3 - Nov 8. Here’s hoping we get it quicker!View attachment 1874079
Cannot wait! Interesting how some Oct. 26 arrivals are still in "Processing" and mine is "Preparing to Ship"? My iPhone 13 Pro actually came 4 days earlier than the site noted, so this may be good news.
Aluminum double blackOne question: the new black keyboard frame is made of aluminium or plastic?
Same, hoping that means a slightly earlier date (and not the opposite)my delivery date seems to have disappeared, it's just a blank 'Arrives' now. order is still processing, was originally meant to be delivered on 29/10.
Please do not use ROI as an excuse to justify the high cost of the pro laptops. Companies that make products for business users love your way of thinking because they know business users will offset the costs of the machine against the running costs of the business therefore the company being able to price their product as high as they can get away with.Unless you buy a Pro model if you are a Pro fessional, which these are designed for. Hoping so! Mine still says preparing to ship, Nov 3-5 delivery. Let’s hope they ship ours out this weekend!Mines similar, just moved to preparing to ship, but still showing arrives Nov 3 - Nov 8. Here’s hoping we get it quicker!

These pro laptops are still pricey even from a business user standpoint (my opinion)
It must be the customization you chose that caused the prolonged shipping date. I also ordered immediately after the Apple Event. Mine will be received on Tuesday, 10/26. I ordered a 16” MBP with the M1 Max, 32GB RAM, 32 - Core GPU in Space Grey.Literally ordered mine 1 minute too late and ended up with a Nov 4 - 8 ship date. I’m excited but for that much money I do wish I was getting it on release day![]()
