COME ON. I seriously waited months to see if Apple would announce in September or October and just took the plunge.

I love them but I mean come on. Don't release them days after I got my Airpods.

I should learn by now.

The hard plastic design of the ear tips does not conform to the inside of everyone's ears. It seems like Jonathan Ive had the current AirPods molded to fit his own ears and said "screw everyone else".

The above video, narrated by and including Jony Ive, is a quick look at what Apple put in to the design of the original EarPods in 2012. They really didn’t say “screw everyone else”. They thoughtfully looked at human ear shape and tried to make something that would fit as many ears as possible.

Noise cancellation. Sole reason I would buy.

I thought about noise cancellation: I think that's expecting a bit too much from tiny earbuds with tiny batteries. My old, wired Bose QC 15s (sitting in a drawer collecting dust since I got the AirPods) used a AAA battery which didn't last all that long. And those headphones had the benefit of being over-the-ear and, thus, already eliminating some sounds and, thus, simplifying the cancellation process. The batteries in the AirPods are probably 1/10th the size - and they also have to drive all wireless communication with the paired phone.

Just don't think the battery technology is there for active/effective noise cancellation in tiny earbuds.

I've been holding from buying a pair of them for quite a long time, expecting the second model to have improved quality sound. The current AirPods have a good sound already, but they sound pretty much like the wired EarPods, so I didn't see the deal.

This time around I'll buy them, even if the improvement in sound quality is small.

AirPods are worth every penny of the $159 asking price even if they don't sound any better than the wired version. Over the years I've listened to very little music while on-the-go, simply because I'm lazy and can't be bothered untangling wires. Since getting the AirPods, I listen all the time - because putting them in is a 3 second activity (and that includes pulling the case out of my jeans pocket) instead of a 30 second untangling affair.

I still think they look a little funny when I see them on people in a public setting.

They stick out but in a bad way. Perhaps a black option would be nice.

I hope they re-design to seal in sound for bass. Need something good for the gym.

Please Jebus let there be SOFT-IN-EAR versions of these things already!

Yes we need some in-ear ones for bass! and passive noise cancellation

Yep the Watch and airpods are a marriage made in heaven. Totally eliminates the requirements for controls on the airpods.

Unless you need to increase the volume of Siri when using the Apple Watch independently from the iPhone. There no volume control whatsoever. A huge oversight. I can barely hear Siri and I can’t increase the volume, so it’s virtually useless, and considering it’s the primary control method, severly hinders the usefulness.

I hope whatever improvements they add, they also improve the audio quality.the first generation are decent, but really like them to sound great not just decent.that would be awesome.

Do you own the Series 4 Watch? Because this comment is arguable ...

I got the Series 4 a few weeks ago (had to wait for the Nike edition). Since I had the Series 2 before, it's a very nice upgrade (mostly for the larger screen - my eyes are getting old) but nothing "magical". But even if I compared my original Apple Watch (Series 1) and my AirPods, I'd give the nod for "magical-ness" to AirPod (usefulness, the Apple Watch would win hands down). AirPods just embody what made Apple great: unbelievably easy to use - and elegant (although some would argue with their looks :)

Has Apple reached out to Samsung for help yet? I'm actually not trolling I'm being serious.

I'm pretty sure they are doing everything possible to avoid having a fan in the unit, however where there's heat, there's a need for a fan, a s t h e t i c s aside.

You want a fan in your AirPods? Is this posted in the wrong thread?

How does anyone not feel embarrassed using them? Literally looks like you just finished a porn scene.

Because they're everywhere. I work in a office tower complex in downtown Cincinnati, and I see a few every time I walk in and out of the building. A sizeable percentage of the building's "mall walkers" have them. (They walk the inside perimeter of the complex in the morning or at lunch.) 4 out of 7 of the people in my group have them (part of that was my influence, though, so not an independent sample). At any given time there are several of them in the gym on the mezzanine.

Because I’m not concerned with what strangers think about me.

Also, that. I'm long past the point at which I care.

I think we will get a press release with new airpods as well as the silicone cases that they said they were making for the XR, and possibly airpower however I wouldn't hold out too much hope for that.

Black would be a great color option, but much like the original ear buds, white is iconic for Apple. I’d be surprised if they ever offer different colors.

You'll be waiting for a long time. The beauty of the AirPods are their simplicity. Apple won't bloat them with any controls. You can use voice, the iPhone, or the crown on an Apple Watch.

It's just not happening.

Controlling the volume from the digital crown on Apple Watch is far superior anyway.

Yeah, nice try lmao. I'm not buying a watch, which I don't need, just to control the volume haha. Voice is lame too, especially in public. And reaching for the phone kinda defeats the purpose of their ease of use. Other brands have touch surfaces and they work fine. Will look at those if Apple doesn't offer that function.

I really need a new set because mine have lost more than 50% of their volume over time. Not going to buy another set until at least wireless charging is available.

Not gonna happen.

i had the same issue - they were clogged up - so i took my (dry) electric toothbrush to them - that made a big difference.

my issue is the battery life - i only get an hour charge out of them.

Not buying unless they are updated with the ability to control volume manually from the AirPods themselves.
