I was actually tempted to buy a pair, after yet another adapter cable frayed and broke. Then I started reading about early AirPod adopters' experiences with significant battery degradation after only 14-18 months. With no solution/support forthcoming from Apple (other than some sporadic out of warranty exchanges here and there) these things are turning out to have a disappointingly short life-span. I hope this next generation AirPods can improve on this.

Incoming price change. AirPods will now be $200, because we know you’ll buy them anyway.
Well, the original pair of Airpods turned out to be laughably cheap relative to the rest of the competition anyways.

That’s the thing about the critics here, I suppose. They seem to know the price of everything, yet the value of nothing.

I love my AirPods as I use them everyday. I’d certainly buy AirPods 2 when they are released (as long as they stay at the same price point). That way I can keep the original AirPods at home as back up.

I got the Series 4 a few weeks ago (had to wait for the Nike edition). Since I had the Series 2 before, it's a very nice upgrade (mostly for the larger screen - my eyes are getting old) but nothing "magical". But even if I compared my original Apple Watch (Series 1) and my AirPods, I'd give the nod for "magical-ness" to AirPod (usefulness, the Apple Watch would win hands down). AirPods just embody what made Apple great: unbelievably easy to use - and elegant (although some would argue with their looks :)

I can understand your point even though it’s hard to agree lol. But definitely a fair point.

If I lost one airpod, how much does it cost to replace the missing one? Will the other airpod still work (even with the missing piece)?

If you lose one Airpod, it costs $69 to replace it. And yes, you can still use one Airpod independently if you want to, which will actually work in stereo as well.

I think it's a mistake to not have a power switch on the case. Even though I may not use them for days, the battery HAS to drain. How stupid is that? Wasting batter cycles.

The point is for you to just use the product and not have to worry about managing it.

Obviously, I get that, but flipping a power switch is pretty minimal, especially when it would save battery life of a product with tiny batteries.

Not minimal enough for Apple, apparently, especially when you can get it down to zero switches and buttons.

I just ordered a pair because they didn’t announce new ones at the last event. (My first pair went through the wash)

I just did the same , my order arrives today , I guess I will cancel it and returning it back.
That was close
(my firsts airpods I purshased day one also went to the washing machine...)

AirPods are my most loved Apple product. For me personally they have worked flawlessly (they had problems with my iMac, but nowadays I roll iOS only). I use these several hours every day, so I’m sure the battery have degraded a bit (although nothing I have noticed). So a new revision with longer battery time (either better specifications, or just longer from the fact that mine are degraded) and better Bluetooth connectivity (Bluetooth 5.0) would be awesome. I just bought a quite expensive Qi charger so I’m not gonna buy AirPower, but it would be nice to charge it on the one I own. The only thing I cross my fingers about is the thickness of the case. Since I use the airpods so much I always keep the case in my pocket. It was a bummer when the iPhone got thicker to accommodate wireless charging, and for my pockets case I hope not the same happens to the airpod case. Oh, and these are definitely gonna cost $199 given Cook’s new ASP strategy.

Like my AirPods, use them a lot, but the connection, and connection process is extremely overrated.

Pop open case, put in ear. Half the time they connect within 20 seconds.

The other half you wait. Wait. Wait. Hear the connection noise...but nope, not connected properly. Sometime you have to put them back in the case.

Meanwhile, every other BT earphone I’ve ever had connect instantly and reliably.

Equally, they need to handle 2 connections at once better like Bose, or Libratone Track+. With those, I pause the phone and play on the iPad, et voila, I’m listening to the iPad. Pause the iPad, play on the phone, and phone playback continues.

AirPods are a great Christmas present but they haven't announced them last week during the iPad even so I guess they're not ready in a few days or they'd have mention them on stage.
I'd love an in ear option and a black version of them.

It's just not happening.

Controlling the volume from the digital crown on Apple Watch is far superior anyway.

I own a pair of BeatsX and I have an Apple Watch, so I can either raise the volume via the crown or with the buttons. 90% of the time I chose the button.
If I had AirPods I'd use the crown, but keep in mind many AirPods users don't have an AW with them so they don't have that option. Some more gestures would be more than welcome
