New Case Designs Revive Unlikely iPhone 5 Design

I predict one feature of iphone 5, voice control similar to android but done better using their acquisition.

iPhone 3gs was given limited voice control and not the 3g, I expect this to be a repeat as way to get iphone 4 folks to upgrade again :)

Firstly, I've never said or thought the iP4 was ugly.

Now, take your phone. Hold it like the hand guy does in the older adverts, where his middle finger overlaps the right of the phone slightly (I.E where he's ALWAYS touching the black surround).

You could get away with it on the original iPhone and the 3G(s) due to the metal bezel which partially covered the front of the phone, but it wouldn't work on something like the iP4 if there was no surround at all.

You dont seriously think that preview/mockup looks good do you?! Wow...

I did not mean to imply that you thought the iPhone 4 was ugly, but most of the people on this forum commented on how ugly it was and the seams were horrible etc.

Is this really that hard?

It looks like it'll have some utility as both an iPhone and as a box cutter. Can't carry the darn ting around in your pocket though; might slice a finger.
 
That is one horrendous mock up .. I don't think we are going to see a new form factor this year .. but I'd be happy to be wrong on this.

I think the iPhone 5 will be a rather modest update ...

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Apple, if you give the next iPhone a bigger screen, PLEASE do not make the height or width any bigger then the iPhone 4? We like to fit it in our pockets..

Actually, not sure if I'll get one as it's rumoured the next GPU tech being worked on is much more powerful then the A5 chip. Apple is involved with these GPU's.
 
Most likely scenario to me:

iPhone 5 is headed in this direction.. but iPhone 5 is next year's release, not this year's. iPhone 4S seems more plausible if case design is unchanged.
 
So obviously I don't really know what I'm saying, but here are my thoughts for the new iphone - again, just speculation. It will have been about 15 months since the iphone 4 came out before the new phone supposedly drops, a long time for Apple in between product cycles. I feel that because of the longer time in between there will probably be a higher chance of a more thorough design change (more 3gs to 4 as opposed to 3g to 3gs). Also, as for the name of the phone, if you look at the fact that there's a relatively good chance that it will be released alongside iOS5, how could they not call it the iphone 5 (I know some people argue it might be called iphone 4s or 4g or something). Are they going to say "Buy the new iPhone 5 bundled with the brand-new iOS 5" or "Buy the new iPhone 4(insert whatever) bundled with the brand-new iOS 5." Just seems silly to me. Again, this is just my opinion - what do you all think?
 
Mockups of new iPhone appear: "That's not an iPhone! It's ugly!"
New iPhone gets leaked: "That can't be a new iPhone! It's ugly!"
The same "New iPhone" releases: "It's... BEAUTIFUL"

EVERY YEAR.
 
Has anyone speculated that Apple will be making their own case for this next iphone? And i dont mean a bumper, but more like the ipad 2 smart cover?

My View of what the next Iphone will be:
A5
32gb/64gb
8mp Camera
3.7-4.0" Screen
Metal Back, and a look very similar to iPad2
Name iPhone 5
 
Really?

Everyone keeps talking about how they like how the 4 lays flat...that is nice and all...but the slight tear drop design would be kind of nice to have so that when you lay the phone on a table it is slightly angled up toward you. It would be an elegant and minimal design feature that would really only serve to make it look nice. Who knows if this is what it will look like though. I think it is fun to see though. Bring on the rumors!

Also, pretty sure the "minimized" bezel will not be a problem with accidentally clicking stuff...come on people... really? Hold your phone...it is definitely not a problem.

Smart cover for iphone...i was thinking the same thing man...not sure how they would make it functional but I am sure Apple could pull it off!

Hopefully, thinner, lighter, more ergonomic.

Thin ipod touch design would be cool, wouldn't it?

The funny thing is that rumor has already gone though a month or so before. I personally don't put to much credibility with it. Think of Apples past next version is always seems to be tweak of version before it and major update comes after that

iPhone 3G and 3GS
Macbook Air 2010 and Macbook Air 2011
Macbook Pro 2009 and latest Macbook Pro
iPad and iPad 2 ( iPad 3 likely with retina screen )

My guess next iPhone will look like iPhone 4 but with cpu from iPad 2 and other enhancements. Maybe a little flatter.
