Its been a good day for news ! I'm holding out to get my first MacBook ! My hp finally bite the dust a few weeks ago this wait is going to kill me but I'm sure it will be worth it.

so the current 13's offer a C2D with 2.4 and 2.66. how are processors going to be faster/more efficient?

someone plz explains? :)

Well for starters, C2D only has two threads for the two cores. i5 etc have dual cores + 4 threads... helps in video encoding etc. Also even though the speeds show 2.13Ghz etc, even first gen core i3 models at 2.13 ghz are comparable in benchmark speeds to a C2D 2.4Ghz. So even if the newer SB Ghz are clocked lower, they are in actuality faster in real world processing. The first gen i-core also had turbo boost which helped. C2D is just old tech and the new SB will be much faster even in the lower i3 configs vs 2.4 and 2.66ghz.

i've been waiting to buy my first mac as well. the current model will do everything i need and more.
i am pulling the trigger tonight and ordering my new 15" MBP, i7, high res display

That's almost my set-up - except I went w/ the i5 instead of the i7. I held out for a refurbished one to save some money though - it's an annoying wait for it to come in the store though

First page updated.

And more info:

I visited mediamarket in Valencia (Spain) yesterday and they don't have any macbbook pro!!! The Mac stand is almost empty, they only have one macbook air and one imac. I asked to the stand manager about that panorama and he told me that they sold out all macbook pros on without's IVA day promotion and they can't restock as the supplyers are not supplying them. They are receiving one or two macbooks this week. That's all.
When I saw that table the first thing that passed thrugh my head was.. REFRESH!!!

I asked if they knew if there is going to be an inminent refresh and he told me that nobody knows.

Well, there you are. Was wondering if you were going to be back to check out your thread.

Looks like there is evidence in other countries, but not much in the US about supplies running low. From what I can tell.

Hey guys,

here in Germany many online reseller have a very low stock level.
For Example Amazon Germany:
13" MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo - 4 to 5 weeks
15" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Core i5 - 4 to 5 weeks
17" MacBook Pro 2.53 GHz Core i5 - Availabe from February 15th

Other big shops like notebooksbilliger.de, alternate.de or cyberport.de are also out of stock of these and other models. Seems like supplies have been cut for resellers.

It seems that it's a big mistake for me to order on Apple Online Store last week. :(
But in the online store the MBP it's still available within 24 hrs now....

Just noticed on the Apple Refurb store...now the 2010 MBPs have dates listed on them; "Originally released April 2010." These designations were previously only used to differentiate the older models from the newer ones by marking them "Originally released mid 2009."

This may be a sign they're going to release the new Macbook Pros sooner rather than later. OR it could mean absolutely nothing. :D

New article

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...acements_as_production_likely_winds_down.html

"It is rumored that Nvidia's graphics processors will not be included in at least some MacBook models 13 inches and under, as those low-end notebooks will rely only on Sandy Bridge integrated graphics from Intel. Apple's larger, high-end MacBook Pros, with screen sizes of 15 and 17 inches, will allegedly rely on graphics processors from AMD."

Any chance they will mention something tomorrow when they are set to announce OS 4.3?

My university can get exclusive deals from Apple official store. Today I checked the website and found that most of MBP increased the prices by $50-100, while the macbook and macbook air keep same price. For example, MBP 13" increased from 1055 to 1100. It seems interesting, since the price of MPB 13-inch 2.4 GHz remained 1055 for about half a year and remained 1055 yesterday night.

Refurb store

Did anyone besides me notice that the 13" Macbook pro refurbished model change in price from $1100 to $999? Also now the Macbook Pros are now saying "Originally released April 2010". They only do this to distingush the newer models from the older ones. All of this pointing to a sooner rather than later refresh.

I don't think it means anything. It is used to differentiate the old from the new models though. For the latest MBA, it says released Oct 2010. Doesn't necessarily mean a MBA refresh is right around the corner.

Man, we are just getting sad. Desperate and sad.

But, keep 'em coming!!!! :D

Count me in for the D and S crowd.

I canceled christmas last year for new mbp in 2011.
JUST for the sake of argument, has apple ever historically released a product on wed?

Because my memory sucks does apple have a show or whatever for every major MacBook update? Was there one last April for the i5 and 330m stuff? Wondering if they would do one again this year or just release it and surprise the hell out of us.

It will almost certainly be a surprise. Any "wow" tech in the new MBPs was already showcased in the Back to the Mac event for the MBA. Although, if the MBP is to get a liquid metal case (which is highly unlikely) or anything else new other than a spec bump, it will be released at an event.

Based on last year's speculation pattern(also to note that bestbuy is horrible at guessing), we still need a few more articles before real thing shows up.

Expecting new MBPs mid feb is a bit delusional (no offence :p) as Intel's new dual core CPUs won't be available for another 2 weeks. However, a late February or early March release is still likely.

The last refresh cycle was not typical, due to chip shortages and low yields. Other than the present chipset problems, there are no problems with SB CPU yields and availability, and therefore it seems unlikely that there will be much delay in the MBP refresh after Apple starts getting lots of new chipsets in a week or two.

Apple are clearly running out of old stock quicker than expected, and will therefore be trying to get the next generation of MBPs out as quickly as possible.
