Then why do you only say i3 =] ? I have no reason to see why i5 wouldnt fit...? Theres soo much more room without ODD...

It could be an i3, i5, or even an i7. I know for sure that it won't be a C2D. And I don't see a SB in the next refresh either.

The end of the month is 20 days away. Less than three weeks. After Apple receives them, that will then leave Apple with less than two weeks to have the chips installed and have them delivered to all retail locations. I don't see that happening. It's not even logical.

Apple may just have to delay any impending launch they had planned, just like every other computer manufacturer out there.

FWIW, the processors were fine, it's the chipsets that were faulty. I won't bother explaining what the problem with them was as that information is readily available. Because of the nature of the fault, Apple could potentially use these faulty chipsets without any negative impact.

That's the spirit - embrace the rumors you like and reject the ones you don't!

Ok, come on now. You know for sure? How? We're gonna need some proof of your insider status.

Yep, I wouldnt be surpirsed if they used the faulty Sandy Bridge chips =], and I'm actually hoping they do!

Im no insider. Just giving my opinion.

Well, crud. When you said you know for sure, that sounded more like... well, it sounded like you knew for sure.

Damn my tendency to read words and apply their actual meanings!

You were saying waiting for the chipsets to be ready would take 20 days. Have you considered the fact that if Apple decided to use something besides SB that this may require a logic board redesign which they would then have to be put into production. This would likely take longer than 20 days. Sandy Bridge will be in the next MBPs because to do otherwise would be freaking retarded.

Japanese site is claiming these following SB configurations for the new models:

Core i7-2620M(2.70GHz)
Core i5-2540M(2.60GHz)
Core i5-2520M(2.50GHz)
Core i5-2410M(2.30GHz)
Core i3-2310M(2.10GHz)

It's in the front page article, which has already been pushed down by another Verizon iPhone article. Sigh.

Those first 3 are the exact ones that I (and most other people) expect for the 15" and 17". I guess the other two will be for the 13".

I sure hope its released by the Best Buy rumored March date. Im getting quite hasty with my overheating i7!!!! Getting ready to throw it on the ground..

Haven't all of the SB processors been recalled?

CPUs have NOT been recalled. Intel 6-series chipsets have been

Apple doesnt have to use the broken SATA ports...
There are still two working SATA III ports that are unaffected, so it could be a non-issue for the Macbooks.

But Intel has stopped production and shipment of all affected chipsets so it is an issue for MBPs as well.

No ODD? Guess there goes my hope the Jobs was going to use Apples place on the Board of Directors for the Blu Ray Disc Assoc....such a pity. I guess I can hold out though for a quad core i7, and even though it's wishful thinking an expresscard/54 slot so I can finally have an internal option for my military CAC card.

Great....but where are the leaked photos?

I think the Best Buy dummy SKUs are great, but shouldn't we have seen some blurry photos by now of something? If we're really that close to a refresh, I'd think these guys would have been harder to keep secret by now. Thoughts?

You're assuming there is a cosmetic change. There is a very good chance that this is an internal update only - in which case, no photos to leak.

We got a pic of the new MBA motherboard...

Why not of new MBPs?

Preferably 17", thanks moles.

Well, I wasn't necessarily assuming that, but good point -- if there's nothing different physically to the current unibody, we'd never be able to verify that the leaked photos were anything other than the current model.

I am absolutely hoping for some cosmetic change. A darker color would look amazing, I think. The black keyboard against the aluminum is a bit too much contrast for me, personally.

so the current 13's offer a C2D with 2.4 and 2.66. how are processors going to be faster/more efficient?

someone plz explains? :)
